what I found interesting was SV had 7-8 coaches on the sideline to Judson's 2 during the Sub varsity game & 3 in the JV game. At halftime SV players were divided into 3 groups with 2+ coaches talking with them in each group. Historically, Judson spends only about 15-30 minutes a week running plays with the JV. It would be interesting to know what other schools do in preparing their JV teams for thier games. It was quite evident that SV players knew what to do on blocking assignments, etc. compared to Judson players.

I think the number of coaches had to do with it being a home game. I don't think there is normally that many coaches out there for the JV & Freshmen games especially if it is a road game.

Judson did have two good looking linebackers on the A Team. Sophmores?

That's probably as bad as Judson has been beat in JV and Sub-varsity since 2001 or before.

I went to the freshmen games. First I stopped at Wagner and watched a little of thier A team. They didn't look too organized. They were beating Clark so I ran over to the big house to catch some of the Judson A team with SV. Judson totally dominated them. I believe SV had 3 1st downs. The score was either 34-0 or 40-0 can't remember. Then I caught the first quarter of the B team game. SV was winnining pretty handily when I left. I left feeling that SV got thier teams mixed up. The B team looked so much, bigger, more polished, passed the ball like a good JV team, and took care of business than the SV A team. I'm wondering if these teams were switched for a reason???

Sometimes teams will "load up" their B-teams if they think they can't compete with their A teams. Don't know if this is the case with SV though. Their freshman is so so this year, but from what I have seen, their two JV teams are very very good.

How did Wagner look? Im curious to see what effect the spilt will have on Judson and if one school will be better than the other. You said they looked unorganized? What was unorganized..the team-players-coaches? I know most of the coaches that went over there and unorganized is not a word I would think would describe them!!

Im sure some people do that but I would doubt that SV would. I have heard of that happening in a lot of smaller schools..but not in 5A. They very easily could have mixed them up. I remeber a few years back when the Judson freshman were beating the snot out of clemens. When the 2nd bus showed up the coaches realized that the players walking in looked a lot bigger and stronger than the ones on the field. Judson always plays the A game first and clemens plays the B game first...so Judsons A team was playing Clemens B team. I think the 1st qtr was almost over before anyone realized the wrong teams were playing. So they stopped the game and let Clemens warm up their A team and restarted the game.

Could it possibly have something to do with the loss of roughly 1/2 of Judson's sophomores this year? I seem to remember having a pretty tough debate with a couple of Judson fans here on a previous thread!

Bucky,
What I meant about unorganized is they looked like a seventh grade team compared to a good ninth grade team like the one I saw when I walked into Judson stadium. I talked to coach Jeter and told him what I felt, he said one of the reasons is because they have no communication system in place, they have to wash thier own uniforms...just a lot of things that are not complete yet. One thing I did notice is they have some break-a-way speed in the backfield. But that's always going to happen against most Clark teams. Judsons A-team on the other hand looked very crisp. Thier techniques were good (for freshmen) and they seemed to know thier assignments. It was more like a track meet in that game. To answer your question, I believe the Judson A-team would handle Wagner pretty handily. Just my opinion.

Wow, talk about rose colored glasses. As previously stated my nephew plays for Wagner's freshmen bunch. I was at the game last night for the whole game. What I saw is a bunch of kids from Wagner who were completely outsized that put an *** whoopin on the Cougars. Yes, the A- team gave up one long play last night, but that was it. They caused numerous turnovers and crushed them 30-0. They looked like they wore the cougars down with the way they were gang tackling and flying to the line of scrimmage. The second bunch put it to them 34-0. To have won two game by the combined score of 64-0 doew not sound like two teams that were poorly coached. I guess if you had any knowledge of what a good team looks like and would have stayed the entire game you would know this.

SV has a very good JV team this year. It is 90% sophomores too. They are part of the same stellar freshman group (led by Trent Rios last year) that destroyed teams last year. That group of kids has won nearly every game they've played since 7th grade. The current seniors, currently the most talented class in SV's history (IMO), were the same way, but this sophomore class may end up being the best class SV's had when it's all said & done.

There is a lot of size, speed, and talent at every position. With Judson losing some key guys to Wagner, SV may end up dominating District 26-5A in the next couple of seasons (unless they move us in the next realignment, that is).
