Here's the season-long thread for all of you D-II followers out there. So basically, here is a thread just for me:D
SW Oklahoma vs (NAIA) NW Oklahoma:
Not a game, really. 33-7 in favor of SW. This really tells us nothing about SW Oklahoma at all, because the NAIA gives no comp.
Pittsburg State vs A&M Commerce
The Gorillas beat the pre-season LSC North darkhorse 28-14. Still, the Lions put up 340 yards of offense against a perennial power. The North is weak and the Lions might run wild this season against the Oklahoma teams
EC Oklahoma vs Tarleton
44-7 in favor of the Texans. Not really a game at all, TSU put up 500 yards and gave up 150. No surprise--Tarleton will challenge in the South and EC is not very good up North.
Eastern New Mexico vs. (NAIA) Bacone
63-20 ENMU. Another inferior NAIA warmup game for a team not expected to do much in conference.
Midwestern vs Adams State
Daniel Polk rolls up 362 yards on his own against Adams en route to a 41-15 win. He also passes former Mustang and current Raider Dominic Rhodes as the Mustang's leading all-time rusher. Folks, Daniel Polk is one of the most explosive players in the state at any level.
Sam Houston vs. Angelo State
17-13 SHSU (thanks, Frog). It's hard to know if Angelo has gotten a lot better, or if SHSU is just a terrible championship division team. My bet is on the latter: Angelo is still a few years away from competitiveness in the vicious LSC South. SHSU should have handled them easily.
Coming attractions:
West Texas A&M vs. South Dakota
A premier matchup. One of the nation's best D-II teams comes to Kimbrough to play a top 20 WTAMU team. South Dakota should win, but the Buffs are tough at home.
Tarleton at Stephen F. Austin
Another champ. division-DII crossover. This will be a good indicator of how good Tarleton really is.
Not to many other great LSC matchups, although my beloved Wildcats go into action against scandal plagued Central Oklahoma. I'll be back with at least all the scores and a recap of TSU-SFA and WTAMU-USD.
