I'm surprised the game turned out this close (17-13).
Bomar had a decent game but not great game:
16-24- 204 yd- 1 td- 1int; plus an 11 yard rushing td with a few more good runs.
Chris Brown (Texas transfer) had 1 sack. He had a costly roughly the punter that help give Angelo St new life in the 2nd Qt when SHSU was up 17-0.
WR/PR- Trey Payne (Baylor transfer) fumbled a punt that got picked up and returned for a Angelo st touchdown right before halftime that really lifted their spirits and gave them life.
I got to watch this game on the Southland Conference streaming website which is cool because I'm outside the United States right now.
SHSU looked "OK" but they've got a ways to go before I would say they are a legit top #25 D-1AA program. They would be lucky to win the Southland Conf with what I saw today but it was just GAME ONE.

Frog, I'm a huge D-II fan and I had written this game off as uninteresting. Angelo is expected to finish near the bottom of the Lone Star Conference South Division, and the Kats were expected to contend in Southland. A good championship division team should have pushed around a team like Angelo.
Here's hoping that SHSU just played badly...otherwise, the LSC South race just added a dangerous darkhorse.

Angelo St's defense wasnt to shabby against SHSU offense. Plus, the RB for Angelo St is a pit bull. That kid was running threw and bouncing off of many SHSU defenders. Good combination of size, power and balance.
Right before halftime Angelo St threw what looked like a perfect touchdown pass but apparently the WR's lost control of the ball right when he hit the ground.
It was a combination of SHSU making a couple of very costly mistakes that kept Angelo St hanging around that made the game interesting.
GAME ONE... but SHSU needs to tighten their defense up or they wont last long in the SLC or National D-1AA (IMO).
Angelo St will probably upset a few teams in the LSC.
PS. I noticed the highly rated OT out of Jasper,Tx that got kicked out of Texas A&M (Jorrie Adams) is playing for Angelo St. He looked pretty good.

Here's hoping they upset WTAMU, Tarleton, and Midwestern...but fall to ACU.
Adams is down at Angelo. A lot of folks would be surprised how many former D-1A recruits end up at D-II. You really do get to see some good ball players.

I agree... You can look at many NFL rosters and back that up. One of them should of been the Super Bowl MVP last year (IMO)... Dominic Rhodes.;)
