The revised schedule has one change on it. The LP vs KF game on October 17 has been moved up to start at 6pm instead of 7pm due to TAKS testing. I was told about the change when I went to get my tickets for the game this weekend. All the other games on the revised schedule are still the same.

Principals & Supts are to meet on pushing it up to 5:00pm. Nothing in stone, but will be considered.

From Lufkin and Klein Forest or just from KF? Either way I still plan on making it. It will just be more difficult for the KF fans to make it by kickoff.

None of these changes are in Klein Forest favor. It will be a challenge for them just to come to Lufkin and play, much less an early start on a Monday.

I honestly have no idea why they're jacking with the game time to begin with - If I were KF I'd want to start it at 8 rather than 5. Panthers would be there if they started it at noon. Absurd to suggest a football player can't get home at 1 in the morning and go to school - basketball, volleyball, baseball and every other sport does it all season long.

Honestly, I can't understand how you could be such a shallow minded idiot. They're "jacking with the time" because the following day, Tuesday the 18th is the TAKS make up day for the entire state. The fact that there is a game the night before will be brutal enough for the kids that have to test the next day, much less taking into consideration the travel time for KF. Since you have to pass the TAKS and all to graduate from high school & since the TAKS scores have a direct impact on the accountability rating of the high schools the administration of the high schools figure it to be kinda important.

You mis-interpreted my post PTH - and I'll disregard your typical sophomoric name-calling.

I'd say the odds of baseball players, soccer players, etc. etc. etc. possibly being affected by Spring TAKS testing in the same manner is really high, and there's never concern for changing a game time there.

At the risk of sounding like an old foagie, I can recall taking 3 final exams the day after getting home from a Tuesday night b-ball game in Odessa via a souped-up yellow dog at 3 in the morning. No, I didn't have to walk three miles in the snow, uphill the whole way the next morning.

My question is simply - why not either just play the game on normal time and allow for a one day reprieve for those affected (doubt that's permitted) or move the game to 3 pm if that's the concern. As I stated, Lufkin faithful will be there regardless of kickoff time. And, if you're wanting more KF fans, move it back, not up. A 5pm kickoff would pretty well cut the KF fan base in half I would think.

I posted why they moved the game up. I stated it was because it was due to TAKS testing. If you are from Lufkin then you would know how important it is to LISD that all the kids get plenty of rest the night before they test. I am sure it is the same statewide. I totally understand why they would want to move the game time up and I don't think it is that big of a deal even if it was Lufkin that had to travel to KF. If that is the way it has to be then so be it.

Ok LPFan and PTH - I'll just shut up. Nobody agrees more than I of the importance of these tests.

Wonder if this same philosophy will hold true when the baseball team (any team, not just Lufkin or KF) has a 7:30 pm start time out of town the day before Spring TAKS? Doubtful.

I wasn't jumping on you I was just pointing out what I was told as to why they changed the time. I also stated that I could understand why. No big deal. I also know what you are talking about when it comes to baseball. We shall see what happens then.

Your updated info. was appreciated LPFan - hard to keep track of all the changes. My take switched gears and was hard to follow - not unusual for my jumbled brain this week - thanks again.

You make a great point favpack!! We used to travel numerous days of the week in baseball and basketball in hs and nobody had any sympathy on us. If there was a major test the next day then you had better studied before you left on the road trip.

I'm glad the game will be played - should be a high quality football game.
