I just finished reading that article on Southlake in the Dallas magazine. What a city! I can only hope that one day my kids will grow up in a town similar to that one.
Amazing stuff.

Be careful GB, some of ya Florida buddies might get pissed at ya for saying that, LMAO!
Seriously, Southlake is a great town with great people. I was passing thru there a little bit back, and I had a flat. The thing about it, is that 8 different strangers that I didn't even know, stopped and offered me help. There are very nice people in that town.

Is it possible to be mad when you live in Texas and your local high school stouts the best high school football team and possibly program and possibly school in the nation?
I'm sure thats only what we on the outside see of SLC. I bet theres a lot more good other then the football team.

Unless Steve Lineweaver was a varsity Dragon, the answer is no. Yes, Aaron would qualify as a player but he's yet to change a poopy diaper.
This Dragon player has... years ago... now his baby(s) are wearing the green...

I don't remember the names, but I thought this had been done more than a couple of times with players who played in the 60's and had sons playing in the late 80's early 90's --- there was something in the paper when I first moved here back then about it.

DDaddy- on my aforementioned question, my answer is hedged on SLC varsity football starting in or around 1980. Were their previous years not celebrated in an issue of Dragon Football I saw?
I may be wrong but got confirmation from at least one council guy...

Actually, the first year of Dragon football at the "varsity" level was in 1963, although there were no seniors on that team. There may not have been any juniors either.

If you are talking about the "Green Book," that was put together to celebrate the twenty (20) years that the Dragons spent at the old Dragon Stadium on Carroll Avenue. Thus it only covered the years that Carroll played in that facility prior to moving over to the new place. The book had been intended to be distributed at the last game to be played there. But a schedule change meant that what would have been the plast game in the ld place became the very first in the new one. Rats, plan foiled. In any event, prior to playing in the old Dragon Stadium, Carroll had played its home games on the field behind what was Carroll Intermediate School and the original site of Carroll High School from 1963 until the opening of old Dragon Stadium.

I believe the Dragions first season was in 1963 and they played the following schedule in District 11-B
Godley - Lost 0-36
Lindsay - Lost 6-27
Boyd - Lost 0 - 14
Chico - Lost 6-70
Perrin - Lost 18-33
Fort Worth Masonic - Won 28-0
Alvord - Won 48-8
Aledo - Won 21-34
Coppell - Lost 12-26
Record W3-L6
I pulled this from one of WOS87 files.

Coach Ledbetter talked about them laying out the field and they only had 90 yards to work with....

Yep, the original field was not the standard 120 yards including end zones, as the space was not available at the time until more land was aquired, cleared and leveled. Even after the old Dragon Stadium was opened, Ledbetter continued to have the sub-varsity teams play on that field until the campus was opened on White's Chapel. The sub-varsity games then moved to that site.
