Reports on both SI.com & ESPN.com have quoted Emmanuel Moody as saying he has chosen to transfer to the University of Florida. Would have been nice to see him a little closer to home at TCU or OSU but he should give them quite a backfield next season pairing with Tebow.

Wow, the Univ-Florida will be loaded with Texas running backs next year.

Kesthan Moore
Mon Williams
Emmanuel Moody

Also, I dont think it's going to be a walk in the park that he beats out Mon Williams if he comes back 100%. The reports out of UF before he tore he's ACL is he was a stud.

PS. I'm like you.. It would of been nice seeing him suit up for TCU or Okie St.

Surprised to see this move. Behind the guys already mentioned he had Chris Rainey to beat out as well. Kind of like out of the frying pan into the fire.

Has there been any speculation about how Florida will use Rainey? He's amazing with the ball in his hands but I'm not sure how he'll hold up in the SEC at his size.

Another dumb move, by a kid this kid. I'm not saying competition is a bad thing (just look at Adrian Peterson beating Tashard Choice out at OU, for the OU position... Choice is the premiere ACC Rushing Leader for Georgia Tech)... I'm just saying, he could be a feature instead of "one of the pack".

I'm not ready to call it a dumb move yet but his primary motivation for transfering was to be a feature back. It may not be any easire at Florida. We'll see.

Haven't really seen anything from Rainey except him saying more stupid stuff to the media. Nothing terrible, just silly kid stuff. He's a guy I try to find a way to get the ball to though.

I am not using a ton to judge Moody, but his decisions seem suspect. He turns down UT(was an early verbal) to go to USC. Goes to USC who is stacked. Sees some good playing time as a freshman, but appears to be getting a little lost on the depth chart.

Decides to transfer, and decides on a school as closed to loaded as the school he left. He will sit out a year and have to compete with players with more experience in the system.

Decommitting from any school is not a big deal to me(in most circumstances), I do think you need to look at it as a big picture. When you add that in, I start to think he may be a little flaky.

I would agree with that assesment. I'm just not sure he's in a position that is markedly better than the one he just left. I really liked the idea of him at TCU, OSU or North Carolina. I think Davis will have the Tar Heels making alot of noise within 3 years.

Ya, he said he wanted to be the featured back. Didnt he also say he wanted to be closer to home at one point.

Oh well, he's still a very young man and I'm sure he has a lot of people talking to him and changing he's mind every 10 minutes.

But, Florida and USC dont seem to different really when you look at the depth chart. He'll have to compete against the other 4-Star and 5-Star kids on the roster and he'll have to compete against the incoming 4-Star and 5-Star kids that no doubt will come into the program over the next couple of seasons.

Just doesnt make sense.

TCU, Okie St, North Carolina seem more like natural fits.

PS. I'm not totally sure he would of just had the job handed to him at Okie St either. There is another young RB on the team (Keith Toston) that has NFL written all over him in a couple of years.

TCU... he would of been the man next year.

I'm willing to go ahead and call this stupid. Moody left USC because of competition and wanting to be a feature back... so naturally he goes to play for a program and coach that uses a multiple back offense? That doesn't make any sense. Just forget Florida's RBs for a second... any back at Florida will be sharing carries with Tebow and Harvin.

Heck, look at the last time Meyer ran his full spread-option offense the way it is designed... 2004 at Utah. Utah had 3 different players with 100+ carries and no player with more than 156 carries. There is no such thing as a feature back in an offense that is designed to spread the running game around. This makes no sense at all for Moody.

It sounds to me like this kid just gets too caught up in the flavor of the week and doesn't think things through. First USC and now Florida and it doesn't seem like he has given either the proper consideration. I wonder how much this kid's nut-job uncle has to do with all this.

Hearing more news about those other 9 RB's, at USC..

LA Times.Com

Senior Chauncey Washington suffered a shoulder sprain, sophomore C.J. Gable is nursing a lingering abdominal strain, sophomore Allen Bradford has a hip issue and freshman Joe McKnight has not practiced in nearly two weeks because of a stretched knee ligament. Freshman Broderick Green, a standout in the last scrimmage, did not participate because the NCAA Clearinghouse has not certified him. Marc Tyler, who broke his leg last season at Westlake Village Oaks Christian High, has not practiced and appears on track to redshirt. In addition, sixth-year senior Hershel Dennis has not practiced because of knee soreness.

Those situations, coupled with Emmanuel Moody's transfer, leaves sophomore Stafon Johnson and senior Desmond Reed as the Trojans only healthy and available tailbacks with the Sept. 1 opener against Idaho looming.

The irony of USC RB-life!;)

Coppell Cowboy could comment, but Moody was flaky his senior year at Coppell..I think he is getting bad advice from the guy who is his father figure...

I think he's struggling to define what his priorities are.

Took the words right outta my mouth!

I'm with everyone else on this subject. Moody going to Florida seems very, very, suspect. He's said that he wants to be the feature back, but yet, he goes into a system at Florida, where he'll be, once again, sharing the job.

He goes to TCU, and he most likely could've stepped right in. Ditto with OSU and UNC. I don't know about y'all, but I smell bulls***!

Yup. TCU would have been beautiful & North Carolina would have given him the chance to be the crown jewel in the resurgence Butch Davis will bring there. That man can flat out recruit. Coker milked his kids for four years and only ran into trouble when they were all gone & he hadn't replaced any of them.

Dan Mullen (Florida's OC), was after Sam McGuffie as well.

Chris Rainey is lightning fast with the ball, but not really a good pass blocker. He'll probably get a few touches from time to time, but right now it's Kestahn Moore, Brandon James (once he returns from his 1 game suspension), and WR/RB hybrid Jarred Fayson getting the majority of the carries from Tebow.

What's the latest on Mon Williams ? I know that Coach Myers had basically said he wrapped up the #1 spot and was light years ahead of pretty much everyone else until the injury.

I know he is sitting this year out but any behind the scenes "info" on him ?
