I think OU and Texas are too good this year, whoever wins the RRS will go to the BCS Title game and the other will get an at large bid, assuming both of us win the OOC schedules.

I think the dirt burglars are one of the more overrated teams out there right now. Paul Thompson was never given the credit he deserves by anybody including myself. He will not be easy to replace. I know the running game should be fine even if Patrick is still injured and the line is very good, but the defense was not great so they will need to improve I think to help that offense get up to speed. I actually think Okie Lite is a better team right now.

You guys are crazy. Colt McCoy was awesome last year as the UT QB until he was injured near the end of the season. Everyone in Longhorn country is saying that he looks even better than he did last year, and he still has Limas Sweed at WR. Texas is stacked at RB, and has some very good DBs coming up to start. Texas will be very stout this year, and WILL be 13-0 after the whole year is done!

I'd like to think you're right. I'm interested to see how our DB's and mainly Jamaal Charles play against a pretty tough team in TCU. It will be our biggest test until OU, which I think we handle pretty well.

I don't see us losing at all in our regular season schedule, but I'd hate to admit, just from the looks of what we have returning from last year, we couldn't hang with a USC or Florida.

Only time will tell though...

Texas needs only to fix two things... two things that kept them from another Big XII title last year.

One, short yardage running. That killed Texas after Lokey went out. It is what injured Colt against KSU and what cost Texas against A&M. Word is that Obi-Wan will be taking most of those carries behind Lokey and that has to excite any Texas fan.

Two, giving up big plays. Giving up two TDs on HB passes in the same game is inexcusable. I'm not as concerned about the DBs as most. Their skills aside, the front 4 should be awesome this year with Okam and Lokey back and a serious pass rusher in Orakpo. Texas also returns 6 LBs who played last year including it's 3 starters. Akina and Mac Duff are going to use them along with the front four to take a lot of pressure off the DBs. Colt has already said they have thrown some exotic blitzes at him unlike any he has ever seen before and Colt played against Ohio State and the land thieves... two teams known for their blitz packages. Texas rarely blitzed last year and almost never went to a nickel or dime package. For reasons still unknown, Chizik was content staying in base formations and playing his base Tampa 2 with injured and out of position safeties. Don't expect any of that this year.

I'm more excited about Texas this year than I was last. It's far easier to replace 3 DBs including a Thorpe Award winner than it is to replace any QB. This team needs only to avoid injuries to go unbeaten. The problem is that the schedule is so weak, even going unbeaten might not be enough to get back to the BCS title game.

I'm going with 1 BCS bid.

Texas- Fiesta
Tech- Gator

OU, Nebraska, and the rest get lesser bowls from the Cotton, Holiday, and Alamo on down.

I could be way off here, but I don't think the Gator is a possibility. The way I understand it, the Gator has the option of taking a Big East team for 2 years or a Big XII team for two years or Notre Dame. They had that option last year between Texas and West Virginia and they chose WVU so I believe the Gator will take another Big East team this season before getting the option again for the '08 season.

Furthermore, whoever the Gator doesn't choose, the Sun Bowl does so I think since Mizzou played their last year, Tech would be more likely to go to the Sun if they don't make the Holiday or Cotton Bowls. I think that's how it works anyway.

Well, if OU can get their front 7 together, to go along with that damn-good secondary they have, and find a QB that'll just be able to manage the game, then I'd say lookout. I can't stand the Dirtburglars, but if they can play some disciplined ball mixed in with Stoops' coaching, then yes, they could very well end up in a BCS Bowl.

with 7 home games, they are set up for a run. Interesting how things work out through the season. Look out for Mizzou visit to Norman on Oct 13 after Texas week.

The Gator has to take a Big 12 team 2 times every 4 years. They didn't take a Big 12 team last year, so they have to do so in 2 of the next 3 years.

Nobody goes to the Sun Bowl when the Gator take a Big 12 team.

It's:

BCS
Gator
Cotton
Holiday
Alamo
Insight

or

BCS
Cotton
Holiday
Alamo
Sun

yeah, mccoy has become a much faster and mobile qb over the summer. and g davis got smart again, just like he did after the okie game in 04, when his coaching iq rose 50 points by simply letting go of the reins and pointing in the proper direction.

once again, no merit to what you say. you think mack isnt a good coach (coming from a f aggy fan that's laughable). but who will take the lead then?

ou has no QB and has the best chance at winning the south, BUT texas has one of the stoutest run defenses in the country.

tceh always plays texas till the end, but they somehow will lose to a okie lite or kansas team, IF they dont lose to ou.

okie lite will have the most potent offense in the big XII with ried at qb but i think is too young to win the conference outright.

nebraska will win the north and lose in the championship game (imo).

aggy........ will waste all skill position players and break a solid qb into a glorified takling dummy. fran will choke on a zebra cake, and lose to miami in OOS. in confrerence they will lose to tceh again, ou again, texas to make it 6 times this century, and come close to choaking to okie lite.

texas has a weak secondary that needs help but with tceh and okie lite having the air attack, but not the most intimidating defenses i can see texas winning both games. beating ou, aggy, baylor, okie lite for sure; and will battle tceh in austin to the end.

but yup, your neverending football knowledge has put us "t-shirt" fans to shame.

Flashback to this time last year. Same claims being made. Same results at years end. Good Luck in the Fiesta Texas Bowl. Never ending football knowledge? Made no such claim. I did however pick the winner of the UT - A&M game whereas you and your idols got it wrong.

Yeah. Enjoy the season. I hope for your sake it's not over by Sep 8. That TCU game looks pretty tricky.

It would suck to have a loss before conference play with that schedule. (which is why an undefeated season does not guarantee a NC game in their case this year)
