I went with Texas. I think Nebraska will beat USC and L-SUck will find a way to lose. I think WV is overrated. SMU and Tulane are laughable! And I won't predict Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa.... or Florida... though they all could find their way there, for many different reasons!

I voted for LSU for one reason....Defense

LSU's defense this year probably going to give up about 1.8 points a game....That's the good news...

The bad news is...LSU's offense going to average 4.6 points a game this year...

LSU beats USC for the Big Trophy by the score of 3-2...

They ain't pretty sometimes....:D

Did anyone actually watch Colt McCoy last year? He was very impressive, and if not for his injury last season, he would have made a case for the Heisman Trophy. Texas has a very good chance to go all the way this year. They are my pick to win it all.

They may or maynot be ranked 1-2-3 but, come Red River Shootout week, USC, Texas, and Michigan will be the 3 best teams in the nation followed very closely by OU. If not for the Qb situation in Norman OU would probably take the spot of Michigan. That being said, whoever wins the RRS will be playing USC or Michigan(one will lose or get snubbed;the latter being UM) in the National Championship.

My heart clearly goes with Virginia Tech, should they be able to get past LSU in Baton Rouge. However, my head says that is realtively unlikely. I think that will put it down to USC-West or LSU. However, West Virginia has pretty much a push-over schedule outside Louisville and they do have a very good football team. The number of couches that would be set fire to would be beyond description, should that disaster occur. Guess I'll go with Southern California.

That's funny, OU has never experienced a 45-year National Title drought!!:D As a matter of fact, OU (technically) was voted a National Title in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 00's. Whoa.. got a'little dizzy, eh??;)

Florida State

I am really surprised by all the hatred towards LSU. I voted for em, and if they go undefeated (which I truly believe they can) in the regular season there's no way they wont be playing in the NC game. Even if Texas, USC, WV and LSU all go undefeated, LSU will still be playing USC for the title. And, when they make it through to the championship game, that offense will be battle-tested and developed enough to stun the apparently unbeatable trojans.

If Texas, WV, and LSU go undefeated, then why do you believe it would be LSU in the NC game? I think if you throw Michigan in the mix and they go undefeated, then they would be the one who gets the vote.

That year they played in the Orange Bowl lol (I think against OU?). I have that SI somewhere I need to find it.

I know there have been plenty of posts and discussions about the best conference, but I think, baring (sp?) a situation when LSU wins all their games by 1 and say texas or michigan or whoever wins by 30 in each of their games, LSU would get the nod for the NC game based on 1. the face that they play in the sec and 2. that they start of the season ranked number 2 in the nation. If they go undefeated they most likely will not be moved from this spot, and I think the vote will be for the #1 and #2 teams in the NC game.

Again, this is all if LSU, UT, and whoever else go undefeated. I cant imagine that happening, but theres a chance

Tech will never reach the top of the mountain with the pirate, without the pirate. Continuing swinging your sword. It doesn't matter. They will never represent the South in the Big XII title game and will never be able to compete with OU and UT. They are in the same category as A&M and OSU, good programs but not on the same level as OU and UT. A&M may be pulling ahead, and OSU is recruiting very well.

I voted USC. On paper, they're the clear favorite. They have an experienced qb, multiple threats on offense, not so tough schedule, and imo most importantly a rock solid defense.

That said, I want Texas to at least GET to the game. I have lived the dream in New Orleans before, and want very badly to do it again.
