Advantages:

Don't have to wait as long to play.
May catch a team that didn't prepare as well off guard.
If its a road game, less attendance so the crowd will be easier to deal with.
Starts at 7:00 and not 7:30 so less sitting around in the locker room before the game
Can go to any Friday Night game you want to the next night

Disadvantages:

Not the same as Friday Night
Have to go back to school on Friday
Less attendance because people use excuses like "we have school tomorrow"
Only 2 days of practice to prepare which creates longer practices
Friday at school is just another day of school, no pep rally or shorter schedule
People leave earlier than usual

I have to say Not. It's not as bad on a road game, but its just not the same as Friday Night games. If its a home game, which we had one last year because Trinity/Tyler Lee played the next night at Pennington, we had no one show up especially students, the game was extremely close at the end of the game and people left anyway because it was getting late, and it just wasn't cool.

I've never been to a Thursday night game actually..atleast a Longview one.

I just dont like it.

Friday nights are HS Football nights. Not Thursday. Next week I'll get to experience that vs Tyler Lee, but the good thing is that we dont have school the next day *happy dance*. Game still starting at 7:30 also.

So we'll see how it goes but I much rather play on a Friday night than Thursday.

I agree, and I don't care for Saturday games before the playoffs either.

1) There's just nothing thrilling about a Thursday game, in which you'll have to leave early in order to get a good nights rest in time for the next work or school day.

2) Also, it's longer, as a player, to have to wait until next Friday or some cases next Saturday to play, again.

3) Attendance is usually small or smaller.

4) There's no real hype, if it's not on Friday or Saturday,...even if it's 2 great teams playing. (Example: Dobie and North Shore are undefeated and will play next Tuesday, due to Rita! Who in the hecks gonna go see that?)

Anyways, it's just odd all together!

Why do I get the weird feeling that attendance won't be an issue! GL to you guys -- it'll be a great atmosphere for high school football. This matchup has always been fun to watch whether you are a fan of either team or not.

Thursday games are necessary because multiple teams use the same stadium. I like games on Friday, but I want other teams to play on Thursday and not Saturday, so most of the games get played earlier in the week. If Judson plays on Friday, I want everybody else to play on Thursday or Friday.

Poor Tyler Lee! I saw them on film, vs Colerain, and I said wow, they don't look very good. My suspicion was realized when I went to the Longview vs Mesquite game!!

WOW!...Longview didn't even seem hyper or pumped up....it's almost if they new they'd beaten Mesquite already. The whole game was just like practice to Longview. The Lobos fans that came all the way out to Mesquite were asleep or leaving by the end of the second quarter.

And Mesquite had plenty of size and some good speed. They just weren't on Longview's level at all.

I'm sorry Lee...you've got a serious test coming your way! (Forget Colerain!)

Thursday games are fun. Why?
Teachers don't expect as much the next day!

Colerain was nothing. Lee should be worrying that Longview might be as good or better than Euless Trinity!

Thursday games have been a fact of life in the Garland ISD since Naaman Forest opened in the 80's. The atmosphere is never the same on Thursdays, and the crowds are down. However, they do give fans of one team a chance to see other teams in action.

This year, Garland plays it's biggest rivarly game, against South Garland, on a Thursday night. I will be interested to see how much different the atmosphere will be for that game...

Last year when we lost to Irving High school on thursday night by 7points, and virtully knocked us out of the play-offs...(not mathmaticly but unproable at the time), second period was the hardest, i was in a blow of class (i think it was home econmics or somthing stupid) with a bunch of football players, we were silent the whole period, tired from playing are hearts out for 4 qters, upset that we came up short...I still remember this girl who i sat next to saying. "man this is depressing all you football players are silent". we were never silent in that class...i felt like crap all day long, i just wanted to go home and cr...i mean urm
