Hows everyone's spring ball going... I know the green people of southlake are looking good...

Coppells D is looking amazing, i am really really surpised that they are play so well, and as a team. E.Moody looks rusty in his first scrimmage of spring ball. Coppell QB looks a much better replacement over coppells former QB Danial Radaubaugh. There offensive line is alot bigger then it was last year, except for there 5'9 160lbs center? maybe he'll be replaced shortly but from what ive seen hes doing the job

S.V. looks good except for having some not practicing because of baseball(beyer,volz,fuller,zinchini)..our ground game looks aesome with our 3 headed monster at running back ,blake shrock, cody mckinney, and trent rios..only weak spot apears to be at right gaurd, coaches seem to be pushing for a next year junior to start(josh martin, jordan mcormik)but next year senior hilario moralis has way more talent and strenght, and would be a better option.

Lufkin is looking great. Big J.Lane may be gone, but we have speed to burn in the backfield and at WR. The QB position is as solid as when Reggie McNeal was leading the PACK. The defense is going to be awesome and deep.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if this Claybon kid hasn't even played at the varsity level, how do you already know he is as solid as Mcneal? I hope Lufkin lives up to your expectations, Longview wants to see them in the playoffs. If he is that good I am looking forward to seeing him in the BIG scrimmage game that will decide the season. I dont know about there pass defense yet, they are really young in the secondary (as they ushally are) but up front, they are alot, bigger and better...rumor has it we are like the Dallas Cowboys and switching to a 3-4 defense with a big jr. nicked named "sunshine" and Luke Younger and Marquise Sike on either side of him, all district (as a sophmore) 2 yrs ago in 5-5A Josh Mayo will be returning this year after missing all last year with solider surgrey. And Paul Richards will be a returning from a good season last year at line backer. Thats all i know as the starters this year

Rclisle41, You guys in Longview are way too absorbed over that scimmage issue. I can tell you Lufkin will only be concerned with getting our players better and ready for the regular season, that counts. Now with that said, we are not coming to Longview in August to lay down either, you get will your shot at 15 minutes of glory to decide the season, the highlight of your year. After about about 15 minutes the starters will be on the sideline and it will be all backups and as a Panther fan I don't put much stock in that kind of stuff.

I know Claybon is good because I have seen him play, maybe not a McNeal yet, but my piont was he will be the best QB we have had since McNeal.

I noticed on your website your webmater posted the 2004 scrimmage score, 24 -14 against Lufkin from last year but somehow forgot to include the score to your season ending loss to Lufkin 31 -21, when it counted. What a homer.

I really wish we didn't scrimmage you guys at all simply because we wouldn't have to listen to all your rhetoric all summer. It gets so boring and irritating listening to you Lobo fans talk about it all the time.

Who will be the starting rb? You never hear much about Kibble. Is EJ Shankle going to get time at rb or wr. I noticed he was 2nd in the 200 at regional track meet.

PackAttack2005
05-07-2005, 12:24 AM
Hey, Clifton Kibble can carry the rock, that guy is tough and has speed. As a junior he was overshadowed pretty much by Lane. Kibble is about 5'11" and 185 lbs. and with junior JaCorey Turner 5'9" 175 lbs. we have two guys with lots of speed and quickness. As far as E.J.(4.32) is concerned he will start at slot receiver and play some RB and FS, probably where ever they need him.

Put those guys together with Claybon 6'1" 180 lbs. (4.5)at QB, a junior that can throw accurate darts to receivers short or long and run. Combine the wide outs of juniors Dez Bryant 6'2" 185 (4.5), Thaddeus Gordon 6'3" 185 (4.6)and Raphael Thomas 5'10" 165(4.4) and you have some offensive firepower. The o-line is young and needs to get some experience, but they are talented.

Did you notice I am using the word junior alot, we get to see them for two years they are good.

Let's not forget the defense, this group will be awesome this year I can't wait to watch them play.

It is going to be another tough year, they always are. Everyone gets after us and I am sure district 14-5A will be better overall in 2005. That is why I admire Southlake, there is never an easy road to the top.

Are you saying you think JC is better than Terrance Parks? You know Terrance broke Reggie's single season school records.

Also, is Chris Brown in the mix at DB?

PackAttack2005
05-07-2005, 08:58 AM
No, I don't mean to take anything away from Terrance Parks. After all he did break Reggie's single season passing record in 2002 as you said. Terrance @ 6'4" and 230 lbs. was not a true QB, he was a WR/TE playing QB. He was the best athlete we had for the job in 2002, plus he had backed up Reggie from his TE spot in 2001. He did developed into a good QB because he is now starting for the Baylor Bears of the Big XXII. Jeremy Claybon (6'1",180 ) has the talent and potential to be better than Parks, and although he doesn't posses the large frame of Parks, he does have blazing speed, a strong acurate arm and he is an intelligent kid. I am looking forward to watching this guy play the next couple of years. While other QB's around the state get much of the press, Lufkin has quitely produced some quality QB material the last several years.

You asked about Chris Brown. With Chris and Leonard Hewitt playing the corners, Lufkin has a tandem in those two CB's that rival the states best. Add in Jamie Harris and Demarkus Redmon both 6'2" and 185 lbs at safeties, you have a hard hitting secondary loaded with speed. I think the Lufkin's defense in 2005 will be tough to deal with by opposing offenses. No offense to McKinner Dixon, Alton Dixon and Rashad Hunt from 2004, but the 2005 defense will be better overall and deeper than in 2004.

Dragon, are you talking about the '68 or '83 Dangerfiled team? They were both State Champs. Man, it's only spring and I have seen lots of good football players over the years. This group of Panthers look to be tough for a couple of years because quite a few of them on the offensive and defensive side are juniors. Expectations are always high these days around the Lufkin camp, just as in Southlake. This team is one of those special group of kids that come along every few years that you know have the ability to win it all. Hey, the season is three months and a half months away, everyone is on the same level right now, but we do have great expectation in Panther Country, just as you do in Dragon Land for 2005.

So does Longview, Tyler Lee, Katy, Smithson Valley, Spring Westfield, Midland Lee, Abilene, Converse Judson, Galena Park North Shore, The Woodlands and the list goes on and on......... :)

83 Daingerfield outscored their opponents 631 to 8 during that state championship run...I doubt that'll ever be threatened again (especially on the 5A level), much less topped with the balance of talent these days.

CoppellCowboy57
05-10-2005, 01:45 PM
Your right KT, there is no team, able to compete with that, Not even SLC could do that, there is to much talent in 5A (let alone 5-5A) i could see it happening if SLC played all 2A schools or freshmen football teams. But not in this day and age.

That was an awesome team and one that I actually remember reading about when it was happening. Truly, that season will never be topped at any level. Both the offesnive numbers at defensive numbers are phenomenal. What I cannot remember was who scored on Daingerfield that year. Can you help me? I think it was Gilmer...

That 8 points was a TD and a safety. I'm proud to say that as a former student at Pittsburg, they got the TD. I still don't like Daingerfield because of the 80's. They used to beat Mt. Pleasant every year and we were 4A.

Jerry came down to Converse and said the Rockets looked good in the shower. He wants players that look good in the shower. At least that's what he said about Aikman on 20/20 in 1989. That was the same interview when he gave the M.O. for the future by saying he was going to run everything from socks to jocks.
