I'm not sure when realigment occurs again. When does UIL realign schools? Also, there is talk of a four playoff spots per district in the near future (not a fan of that but I don't have a vote on the UIL board), but rumor has it they might combine 2-5A and 3-5A into a Superdistrict (the Panhandle-South Plains district and the Permian Basin district). What do y'all think about that? It would make the South Plains better in football.
 Why is high school football better than college football?
Because, high school crowns their champions by playing games on the field. NO BCS here.

The realignment will be done in February 2006, based on enrollment numbers as of Ocober 1, 2005 I believe. They do the realignment every two years. As for the "SuperDistrict" I have no input or comment on that since I have no real information on either of those districts out west.

I could see that happening, but its not a good chance. I think they would want SLC with their geographic rivals, Coppell and Grapevine/Colleyville in a district. But they did the same with Coppell 2 years ago, they might do it with SLC. I see it more like this:
1. SLC
2. Coppell
3. Bell
4. Trinity
5. Grapevine
6. Colleyville
7. Keller
8. Fossil Ridge
I don't see 8-5A chaning, except maybe it will add Denton Ryan and place Allen somewhere else.
1. Lewisville
2. Flower Mound
3. Allen
4. Plano
5. Plano East
6. Plano West
7. The Colony
8. Marcus

I think this is the first season for me atleast that I have no idea where Longview is going to be put. We'll see, hopefully not any big long travels (aka to Houston)

I think Denton Ryan will be going back to 4A because of the opening of the new school in Denton.

You should be playing in the LHSAA. You like to play over there and may win a title! :p
For the record, I said you would win a title in Texas this year.

Lonny, the LHSSA is a JOKE. And, who would u suggest we play? The area we're in doesn't lend itself to having a lot of teams to play, unless we wanted to play a lot of 4A teams. I hope we replace ECA with Lufkin next year. The West Monroe series would be good to play for a while I think. It's not like we went to Ohio, or Florida, or Alabama to play. At least we're getting teams close to us, that we know a little bit about.

Pure and simple, you guys are stuck. It's just like West Texas. There aren't enough 5A teams in East Texas and you have to travel. 4A teams won't help you win state, so I say don't schedule them. At the end of the day, I think you end up in Dallas again and Lufkin ends up in Houston. Nobody will come up from 4A, but John Tyler could go down. I bet they stay in 5A to keep Lee's travel down, though. You should schedule Texas teams in non-district and not mess with Louisiana.
Hey, I was born in 1971! :D

I'm not sure what their numbers are exactly, but I've heard Hallsville is pretty close to 5A numbers. It would be nice to get a few more East Texas 5A's, at least 2 more so Lufkin could come back and join us again. Even just one more 4A team to move up, and Lufkin to come back would give us the East Texas district back. But, I'm not holding my breath. I think we'll probably stay where we are, I hope anyway. I don't want to have to travel to Houston for non-district. They might move Rockwall out, or Horn, who knows. Guess we'll find out in February.

Nacogdoches is the only 4A team in East Texas that's remotely close to 5A numbers. Hallsville had 1163 two years ago and needs over 1900.

Hey, I can dream can't I? It would be cool if Nac could come back at least, although I think they still might bee the whipping boy of the 5A district. But, they have shown a lot this year, so if they where to move back up and keep it going, it could be interesting. We'll just have to wait until they get the official numbers and do the realignment in Feb. Any idea when they'll have the official numbers posted? I know they go off of the numbers in October of this year, but will the release those before they do the realignments?

The monkey wrench in the whole deal is figuring out where all the evacuees moved to. Somebody can surprise and jump up because of Louisiana.

Yeah, that could be a kicker for some schools. Even if the kids don't stay past this year, they're counted this year. Also, now you have to take into account the people from Rita. It could get interesting. We will see.

well if you remember at on point, 8-5A was 5-5A with Lewisville, Coppell, SLC, The Colony, Flowermound, Marcus, and another school that i have long forgotten...
I think, the top district would be good

That’s an interesting question/observation! I wonder if the UIL would consider a surprise “sanity check” of enrollment numbers in, say, mid to late January to see if any further adjustments to their alignments were needed?

I doubt it because those people aren't going back anytime soon.
What gets me is that now that they've left New Orleans, why would anybody want to go back? Why do they even want to rebuild the city?
