Please note this >>>>>> :D :D when reading this post
Week 2...
D. Williams---Judson---94yd TD return to help beat Pflugerville
J. Henry---192yds and 5 TD's on only 9 carries
OK, Judson's game was against more significant competition and Williams' return was pivotal, but Henry's stats on only 9 carries compares VERY favorably to Stephens' stats in Week 3 when Stephens' stats were enough to win POW. Hmmm...

Week 3...
B. Stephens---McAllen Memorial---230yds and 5 TD's on 7 carries plus 103 passing yds---WOW
J. Henry---218yds and 3 TD's on 16 carries
Obvious huge edge to Stephens, but where was the love Week 2 when Henry had eye popping numbers?

Week 4...
D. Thomas---Madison---52yd fumble ret TD, blocked XP, 90yds, 2pt
J. Henry---207yds and 6 TD's on 19 carries, 2pt
Thomas' stats were big in a crucial 265 matchup against a quality opponent while Henry once again got his stats in less than 3 qtrs of action.

I realize that matchup quality plays a big part in picking the POW, along with the individual's impact in the game. I suppose that means that Henry's only chance at POW consideration will be against San Marcos and Seguin.

Unless it's a foregone conclusion that he'll be REG 4 Player of the Year so let someone else get the love during the year. :D

Again, please note the :D :D

Clemens schedule has been a joke. See what Henry does against a quality cough Judson cough defense!

The dude is a great player, but those 5 teams so far were tomato cans. The best team you played was Roosevelt and that was a 15-3 score. Don't say Waco, because they're a joke this year and probably better than the other 3 teams (Highlands, Austin, and Taylor).

I used to think that you had at least a small brain, not any more. Lets see here, 2003 at Judson stadium sophomore Henry runs over the J-Defense for 160 yards and 3 TDs in the second half. Oh, did I mention that was the first time that he played tailback on the varsity! I'm sure that your answer to that is that the Judson coaches didn't have him scouted and could not have possibly have let the Judson defense to watch out for him, right?

I'll be waiting for the 30+ point victory that Judson is going to have over Roosevelt this year as you promised in another thread. Also, if you had been at the game or read the stats even, you would have seen that the scoreboard didn't tell the whole tale. Our D totally shut them down and our offense stalled at least three drives with penalties and two more with turnovers. It could have just have easily been a 35 point win or more!

As far as our schedule this far, I only have one thing to say.... Laredo Nixon

Lets see...2003....OUR DEFENSE WAS HORRIBLE THAT YEAR.

Dude, you have to be joking. You act like Nixon was the best team we have played. Does Pflugerville ring a bell? How about #8 Copperas Cove? Your argument is null because OUR Player of the Week was during the Pflugerville game, who is definantly not a piece of cake team.

OH YEAH, Laredo Nixon beat Laredo United, who was ranked number 1 in the district. They were undefeated.

Don't get me wrong, Henry is a great player. But don't bring up the 2003 season, because that was in NO WAY one of our better teams. Our defense this year is much better than '03.

I vote Taylor Potts. 200+ yrds. passing, 23 for 35ish on passes, 2 TDs in the 33-14 victory over Rockhurst Missouri, a nationally ranked team.

First of all I am not lobbying for Henry as player of the week. Check the name on this thread and you'll see it's not mine. I was responding to Lonny's remark about Henry and the competition he has faced. Where in the heck is Lonny at anyway, he usually has a response by now even if it is one sentence so he can get credit for another post! LOL I am not taking anything away from CC or Pflugerville games, they are both tough and the Rockets did a good job in getting one of those games. In fact, if they hadn't had some brain farts and screwed up in the kicking game, they would have gotten both of them. Think about this for a minute. Judson didn't exactly shut either of those two down though did they. I'm talking about Lee and Nixon neither of which is exactly a power house! Nixon beat United, wow I'm impressed. Uvalde could probably beat either of those two, think about that! All that I'm saying is that Lonny is running down Clemens constantly in every way that he can and I'm just pointing out to him that Judson has played two worthy apponents and two scraps.

I didn't say the 2003 team was one of the best Ds that Judson ever fielded but simply that Henry torched them as a sophomore (the truth sometimes hurts)! Re-read Lonny's post and then mine and you'll maybe be able to see the point I was trying to make.

At this point in the year I'd agree with you that Judson's D is better than 03'. I thought that we'd find out for sure how good they were this Friday, but who knows which SV offense is going to show up. I guarantee the SV offense that played Churchill last Friday is not the same one that played against Pflugerville.

The pressure of being #1 in San Antonio is a lot, to be sure. I think its hilariuos that the top 3 in San Antonio aren't even in San Antonio. Schertz Clemens, Converse Judson, Spring Branch Smithson Valley. That is funny stuff there.

Do you think Judson's D was better in the 04 game? all 3 of Judson's non district opponents will be in the playoffs, while the Buff's non district opponents will more than likely not. Henry is good, no doubt. 25-5A being a weak district, well, from top to bottm, yes, but the top 3 teams are pretty good. Seguin's defense is no slouch either. Of course, Region III and other people throughout the state always bring up the weak Region IV, but Region IV, primarily Judson & SV have a tendency to eliminate the majority of the time Region III teams. So be careful about weak districts, but playing good competition week after week does prepare a team for the playoff run.

I have no problem with Henry being named the POTW. He's an outstanding athlete. He's had some great games. But I will agree with Lonny on this, Clemens' competition has been suspect.

The problem is that I'm on the other side of the world right now. That means I'm posting when other people aren't. I remember the game in 2003 vividly and that was the worst defense Judson has had in over 30 years. Yes, Henry ran wild on a good team, but one with a horrible run defense. I can't take anything away from Henry, because he is a good talent. I will say that his stats get analyzed because of who they came against. If I remember correctly, Henry didn't look nearly as good against the good teams last year as the bad teams.

Henry will get player of the week one of these weeks and is a shoe in for region 4 player of the year. His stats are simply ridiculous. He is a great player who strikes fear into any opponent he plays, regardless of whether they admit it or not. He is the big home run hitter; every time he gets a hand off, as an opposing fan and coach I am sure, you start saying to your self, "somebody please get him" and when he finally goes down, you breath a sigh of relief. Then, the next play, you go through it all over again. I think that is a testament to his greatness.
