Leave it to a player from Texas to pull off the victory. Cy-Falls QB Jeff Welch throws for 2 TD passes to end the late fourth quarter standoff.

Congratulations on Welch's performance to pull off a victory.

I believe all the players in that game were from Texas ;)

That's what i'm thinking as well although the article didn't say. I thought it was more like a traditional USA north vs. south region game but you're probably right. The article was good though. Thougth i would post it.

Jeff was a BIG reason we got to state. He is a very good leader out there on the field and just an all around great kid. He is a quick thinker too and was able to throw more than one defense off their game:p.

I wish I could have seen this game:(. Oh well, I'll get to watch and cheer for him at SHSU!!! I was watching it on TV today though so I did get to see the game - just not live.

Some exceptional athletes on the field - some All-American/All State while others are All-American in the communities they represent ... the best of what the state has to offer through the spectrum of classifications - from Iola (1A) to CyFalls - I know each of the respective coaches would LOVE to have that much talent on the sideline for an entire seasion - to prepare and get to know one's strengths/tendencies, etc... all-in a great experience for the kids ... good friendships, camaraderie, rivalries and memories as each of the student-athletes take the next steps in their lives.

He's the perfect QB for SHSU as well. If you check out the high school section of Chron.com there's an interview with Welch you might wanna listen to.

I'm pretty impressed with him. He's got a lot of poise & confidence in his athleticism and i'm proud he represented 17-5A ;)
