These stats show offense, defense and net yards per game for 5A teams in the Metroplex. Teams are ranked on the basis of the net of Offense and Defense yards per game. The top 25 out of 64 are shown.
SLC has the #1 offense and the #11 defense and the Net is #1.
Trinity has the #2 offense and the #30 defense and the Net is #3.
Colleyville Heritage has the #5 offense and the #16 defense and the Net is #4.
Anyone know where I can get stats like this for the entire state?

Settle down there Cowboy,
Lets not forget how they got that high ranking. Molina, Thomas Jefferson, Bryan Adams & Frisco Centennial. Not exactly "good" competition is it. Now, I do give them credit for putting up the numbers that they've put up and I think that it's great that they have been able to do that. Let's see them for 6 more games then see where they are. I was glad to see that they had beaten North Garland last week. Just means that the GHS vs NG game will be that much more meaningful.
Also, who would have ever bet that Sachse, Lakeview and Rowlett would be leading 11-5A after week 1. Now the GHS/South game in 2 weeks is gonna be HUGE. As is GHS/NG & SG/NG. Shaping up for a crazy ride.

The future will take care of itself. But right now let's bash in the moment for Sachse. Even though they didn't play any Slobberknockers, they are not considered Slobberkockers either. In fact, some people may have thought that they were on the same level as their competition.
They may not be the cream at the top but they've shown they are not the residue at the bottom!!
Let's celebrate them while its due!!

Net yards is crap I think net points is a better judge of total team then net yards. One of my per peaves is judging defense by yards. I think defense should be judged by points allowed. And offense by points scored not yards gained. After all teams like Haltom are ringing up big yards but not scoring near what the yards would suggest.

I know Lognview isn't a "Metroplex" team, but they ARE in a "Metroplex" district. They've outscored their opponents 187-44. The defense has held the last two teams to under 100 yards total offense. I believe they're averaging something like 140 yards total offense allowed. The 1st team defense has only been scored on in one game, Marshall. The other points have come off on the 2nd team, or on the kickoff. But, I guess since we're not in the Metroplex, we'll get ignored. Just ignore the #3 team in the state until they sneak up on you and bite you in the playoffs. We will see.

The only defense in the state better than Lview is Lufkin IMO. Mesquite could hardly get the ball snapped last week, and they had a decent Oline. The thing that gets me is Lviews D was more talented last year but this D just gets it done.

This year, the whole team is playing as one. They are unselfish and going for the prize. Last year, admittedly it looked like it was mostly Vondrell, with everyone else as a supporting cast. This year, you have no idea who will make the play on offense, or defense. Vondrell is still there, Ivory has been just as good as last year, Freeman is a better QB than last year.....and last year he was good. The D has just stepped up and come ready to play.

I was surprised to see that Euless Trinity is giving up 295 yards per game. I thought they would be #1 defense on this list but they are #30. Perhaps its and indication of the competition they've faced.

After all teams like Haltom are ringing up big yards but not scoring near what the yards would suggest.I think that yards is one indicator of a good offense or defense but it's clearly not the only way to measure. The problem with using only points allowed or points scored is that doesn't take into account points scored by special teams or by the defense. Nor does it consider easy points from turnovers.
Yards has problems also. Teams that run the ball and control the clock won't give up very many years no matter how good their defense is. Conversely, teams that pass and score quickly will tend to give up more yards because the defense is on the field more.

I think Lufkin is averaging about 360 on offense and averaging about 38 points a game, while giving up about 140 yard on defense a game and giving up an average of 8 points?? I know most of the yards and points came against the 2nd team defense and the 1st string has only been scored on twice in 3 games. Both times the team had a very short field. Nac scored after the Lufkin offense fumbled at their own 9. Lufkin has not played anybody yet so it is hard to get a read on this team?? I know they are very very talented like usual and the defense is the best i have seen since Lufkin 03 or NS 03.

It really isn't worth the argument, when you run down the list of those teams you rank ahead of Longview, Trinity is the only team other than Longview who has played a decent team, however trinity has only face one good team, when Longview has played it's first five games against playoff teams and they will continue to play out their season in the toughest district in the Texas 5A football, the 12-5A, plus, Longview plays their starters just over half a game...when some other team have continued to play their starters in games that had already been decided...it is a mute point, I say let the season do it's thing...I will be surprise if Longview doesn't make some huge sounds before the season is over...the refs in the West Monroe game did all they could to aid you guys, but Longview would not except it...

Nance came out of the game w/3:25 in the fourth. They scored their last two touchdowns w/1st team Offense against Lee's 2nd team defense. Don't get me wrong, he's the real deal -- don't let him get around the corner! He's a great back and they are a great team, but their coach got out of hand Too much at risk for a game that didn't count! Stinger what is inaccurate about this post...
