I respectively disagree and here is why (not that it matters). I feel that with rankings you are basically saying that the lower ranked team would lose to a higher ranked team. With that said Tyler Lee could and would most likely beat the teams below them. Tyler Lee lost to an Ohio team which who the hell knows how good they are and to one of the best teams in the state (to be determined). At the very least Tyler Lee is battle tested. I have no problem with a # 10 ranking for them.

No doubt, Judson should be in there! They gave Cove a heck of a game and you could even say they should have won it!

I couldn't have said it better myself, fleeman. We should be able to run through the rest of the season with the possible exception of Longview and make a deep run into the playoffs. Anybody who thinks the Euless Trinity game was the blowout that the scoreboard indicated wasn't at the game!
If you'll all remember, we won state with 3 losses early last year! I'm not saying it will happen again, but our team will know how to play in the big game!

The measuring still will probably be that Longview game next week. We all remember how good last year's game was. If it is ANYTHING like that this year, then just maybe Lee deserves to be in the Top 10. We will find out next week. Good luck to Lee this week.

How was it not the blowout the scoreboard indicated. Did they put the wrong number on the scoreboard or did Trinity actually score that many points. Perhaps Lee will make a run at the end of the year but right now that 2-2 mark is not deserving of a number 10 ranking.

Whoaaaa....mmmmm...where's...
Plano...4-0...severe blowouts of all opponents. Bigtime win over good Rowlett squad. Only allowed total of 42 points in 4 games.
Irving....decent 4-0.
South Grand Prairie...great 4-0 start.....convincing wins over South Garland and Irving Nimitz.
Colleyville Heritage.... 4-0...points forced...178 to 84.
Garland... 2-2..impressive wins over PEHS and 4A Power Ennis.
Klein Forest.....solid 3-0 start.
Pearland....4-0...solid start. Only allowed 49 points, total, in 4 games.
La Porte....3-0...impressive win over Clear Lake.
Tyler John Tyler....3-1...impressive wins over Texarkana High and PA Memorial. Only loss to defending 4A State Champ Kilgore.
...?
And why isn't Leander and, MOST DEFINITELY, Northshore in the Top 10?
And why is everyone pushing this Abilene team? Who have they played?
Oh, and sorry Lee, you gotta do better. I think Lee and Garland are on the same wave length, only difference is the mammoth test that faces Lee in a few weeks called the Longview Lobos. Lee...top 10...not right now!!!

I do not think Tyler Lee is a top 10 team right now but a 2-2 team could easily be a top 10 team. It all depends on who they played. What if they lost to 2 top 5 teams?? Colerain could probably make a strong case for being in the top 5 in Texas??? and Trinity is a top 5 team. Why would a team be punished for that?? I guess it could also depend on how lopsided the score was. You get my point i hope.

Colerain would most likely be a Top 15 team in Texas!
And whether it's a lopsided score or close loss is irrelevent...what I want to know is who a team has beaten?...Not who they lost to!
Abilene and Tyler hasn't beaten any credible teams. (And please don't say Waco High!)
A few examples...
Leander beat Austin Westlake
Garland beat defending 4A state champ Ennis.
South Grand Prairie beat two good teams in South Garland and Irving Nimitz.
Plano beat a very good Rowlett team.
Northshore (who should be in the Top 10) beat The Wood.
(And before you shoot down SLC's schedule....they haven't lost in a LONGGGG time and they've beaten several great teams. Until they lose they'll stay at the top!) :D

all I know is that polls don't mean SQUAT...who's playing in December is what it's all about. All of the teams in the top 15 or so cant' play each other every week so we never really know who's #1 unit the title game. I believe the #1 team is last year's champ unit they are knocked off. The rest, what does it matter if your 2, 3, 6, 8 , 5, or we should be ahead of so&so...it don't matter.
If your school is listed in the Top 10-15, then chances are you at least have a good shot at winning it all..........
That being said I think Copperas Cove should be #2......
WHAT? I'm just thinking positive......

This poll is complete garbage. Those knuckleheads who vote don't have a clue.
If Lee lost close games, I wouldn't have a problem with them being #10, but since they got blown out, they shouldn't get ANY points in the poll.
There is no way that SV should be in front of Judson. How can both teams have 1 loss and SV be in front when they lost to a worse team, playing at home, and by a larger margin? Wherever Cove should legitimately be ranked, you have to put Judson one spot lower.
Abilene didn't prove a lot in their early wins, but they seem to be getting better and will be a tough out in the playoffs.
Clemens is not better than Judson. They've played one of the worst schedules in Texas so far.
I'm glad I don't have to depend on the AP anymore to see who the good teams are!

one more reason why Lufkin's 9 year win streak over Longview should have no bearing on how these teams are ranked this year, I remember someone saying they can't rank longview ahead of Lufkin because Lufkin has beaten them 9 time... Let Judson get beat and now the tune changes, I don't get it , Lee is still Div.1 state Champs,

I agree Smithson Va. should be at 10 at least. I know Judson Played CC in close one, but does that mean automatic win for Judson? SV Weak Schedule or not - Judson still has to play 4 quarters of hard nosed football, and NOT look and compare who they've (SV) played - ratings are just for small talk around the water cooler anyway!

The tune hasn't changed because Tyler Lee didn't beat Judson and they wouldn't have beaten Judson if they'd played last year. Also, Judson didn't lose to SV and should be in front of them. I'm consistent because I've said that Westfield should be in front of Judson until we beat them in the semis. I keep saying that Cove stays in front of Judson.
Losses to other teams affect what I just said. I say Cove is in front of Judson, but if they lose to somebody like Belton, the Rockets have to pass them since they lost their game to a better team. Longview goes in front of Lufkin if the Panthers lose to a lesser team and Longview doesn't lose.

And why is everyone pushing this Abilene team? Who have they played?
That's a good question. In fact it's the same question I got for the teams you seem to think should be in the top ten Plano, Irving,
South Grand Prairie, Colleyville Heritage, Garland, Klein Forest, Pearland,
La Porte, SA MacArthur, and Tyler John Tyler. I'm not sure but I don't seem to recall one nationally ranked team on any of your super top ten's schedule.
That big time win over Rowlett will get you a ton of respect. Boy beating South Garland and Irving Nimitz would scare anyone to death. Come on dude don't come on here claiming lame schedule and then throw those teams out there as feathers in your cap.
Here's Abilene's season thus far.
AHS 37 vs Monterey 14
AHS 48 vs San Angelo Central 7
AHS 17 vs 4A Brownwood 15
AHS 24 vs Belton 17
AHS 33 vs Nationally ranked Rockhurst 14
Abilene lost a ton of talent last year and are pretty inexperienced for the most part. Aside from two questionable games vs Brownwood and Belton it looks as though the Eagles are handling up on their business very well. A little side note: Belton has a stud RB that was averaging 250+ yards per game until they played Abilene. Abilene held him to 84 yards. Do I think Abilene is a top ten team? At this point not really. But trust me, come playoff time the Eagles will be ready to play and I honestly expect the rematch vs SLC.

Thank you Football Junkie - I was at the game and the only reason the score wasn't any higher was because Tyler Lee mainly played Trinity's 2nd and 3rd string offenses/defenses in the last half. Coach Lineweaver is a class act and took out most of the first strings in the second half. That's also the way great football teams are made for the future - let the underclassmen get experience playing real games.

you were apparently at the wrong game! Coach Lineweaver kept in the first string until there was 3:25 left in the 4th quarter. You scored your last two touchdowns and Nance got the rest of his yardage against Lee's 2nd string defense! Congratulations -- ya'll won another preseason game that DOESN'T COUNT. Fact is Abilene is going to get rocked when they get into district so this conversation is irrelevent.
You need to learn more about the game, instead of the stats you live by. "Belton had a stud RB...", yeah right...honestly who cares about a team called Belton? Abilene will fade just like most of those teams over there.

your knowledge of the teams in this state is amusing. Abilene would kill Irving Nimitz, South Garland and Rowlett, Nimitz is not a good football team. Abilene has gone undefeated and appears to be hitting their stride at the right time. Taylor Potts is a very good QB and he has some weapons on that offense, I have a hard time seeing Abilene fade, or that district for that matter. You have let it known that you are not a objective person when it comes to the West Texas schools, why dont you get over your dislike for them and realize that every year a great football team will emerge from that region of Texas.

Well--except Nixon hasn't beaten any San Antonio team in the playoffs since 2000, so I'm not necessarily impressed with a victory over them. Their victories have come over other Valley teams and at least one from Corpus. We used to be in Region 4 and I hate when folks knock Region 4, but Valley teams have not had very much success in the state playoffs in recent years.

I'm sure glad that you don't hate Clemens because by the way you sound in your posts, it sure seems that way. If your talking about Pearson, he is a littly undersized for FB, but he's a tough runner!
So, after this week you may say #2? Which way does the Judson/SV game have to go to make us the #2 team???? And as for us playing #1 in the playoffs, who do you mean?
Last, if you think Nixon going 3 games deep into the playoffs against the teams that they face in the early rounds means something, then I've been giving a whole lot more credit for knowing something about HS football! I can't even remember the last time a Valley team, Laredo team, or a Del Rio team beat any San Antonio area team.

Off the top of my head, I think it's happened 3 times since 1990 and the last time was 1998 or 1999. No, Laredo is not prepared to beat SA in Round 3. I still say that Nixon is better than some of the SA teams, but not the top SA teams. They're better than teams like lower division 27-5A and most people in 25-5A.
I thought Reese was still starting at FB. Oh yeah, he got hurt and they kept him pretty much out of a few games.
I'm saying that Judson is #1 and SV might be #2. Depending on how the game turns out will determine how I place 1-3 after this week. Judson might be garbage and I could really drop them.

I'll be back in late January, so I expect one of you guys to record that Judson title game for me. ;)

go hawgs 04...you are correct. I was also at the game. Something raidercheerdad cannot say. Both he and myround0 are both from the same boat...it's called "poor attitude" and uninformed. Where they gor this phantom fact of 3:25 on the clock is outrageous. I asked for a source a long time ago...no response. Raidercheerdad....work on your jealousy, it is really showing.
