you have too look at who SV lost to...Tyler Lee lost to, two Ranked teams, Valley lost to Churchill, if you think Valley is mad Churchill I am sure feels they should be ranked ahead of Valley...since we are on the subject...shouldn't Longview have the highest Strength of Schedule (SOS) ever. I know I first stated Tyler Lee should have the highest SOS, but when you look at Tyler Lee and ECA both being on the schedule and both being state champs, along with West Monroe and Marshall both being state Runner-ups and then you toss in Mesquite and Lake Highlands both being playoff teams of a year ago couple that with Longview will have to play five of these games on the road and one at home...You could really make the claim that either Longview knew they were so good this is the way they had to go to prove it or they wanted attention and this schedule should have gotten them that attention, yet they continue to fly under the radar...reporters like doctors just don't do their work like they use...tyler Lee is still the benchmark game for the Lobos and you can rest assure if Longview loses or struggles in that game Dallas Metroplex will rest really easy...so i hope the Lobos make it hard for the entire state and nation and do a longview Lobo make-over on Tyler Lee, sorry fellow east texas 5A team, but sometimes it will be like that...

MyRound,
I have to disagree with you. The fact that Marshall is 4A makes them not as tough for the top 5A teams as what it looks like. Top 5A teams are almost always 10-20 points better than the top 4A teams.
The Louisiana teams are always overrated. Longview will face tougher teams in Texas.
Trinity is a legit team. Colerain and those other guys from Florida can not be determined about their strength. On the surface, it looks like Euless Trinity is a LOT better than Colerain and Colerain isn't really as good as some think. Trinity had a larger margin of victory in Tyler than Colerain had in Ohio. That's a huge difference!
Keep in mind in all of this that Longview is a STRONG team and Lee is still a pretty good team. I don't think it's an All-star schedule even though it looks real nice on the surface. Now a run to the title game is a whole different story! That lineup can be SCARY!

I like that the Lobos are underdogs. That's fine with me. It'll make the wins taht much sweeter, b/c we won't be expected to win it. We're only the #3 team in the polls. I'd rather be at the bottom than the top, so that everyone overlooks this team. I haven't seen a team quite like what we have this year, probably ever. And I've been watching the Lobos since 1994. The '97 team was good, last year's team was good....this year's team is just as good if not better. And they are a TEAM. It is not just one person doing the work, it is everyone from the starting QB to the 3rd string cornerbacks.

I agree.
Something is...I have no idea..it's just different.

I know what your feeling Lobo, you line up teams that were good last year and they end up being less than spectacular this year. Lufkin has been in the same boat. The only difference is 4A Marshall and Nacogdoches have been more competitive than any of the 5A team we have played so far.

Pack, I was NOT saying Longview was worse, but BETTER this year than last year. Lufkin does seem to be down a bit. Longview is in no way down if you ask me. We are better than last year's team. The thing that is different is what is making us better. What is making the team play more as a team.

Lonny, this past weekend Wichita Falls rider beat a 5A team...the only difference betewwn 5A and 4A are the amount of talented players on the 4A sidelines. They are fewer than the 5A guys, as for the starters they are about the same in talent level. In 5A there are more of the talented players. I remind you that Adrian peterson was not of the 5A class, number 1 recruit...

There is no possible way Longview is down this year.
We returned way too many people from a 12-1 year to be down.
Longview has pretty much dominated in all aspects of the games they have played this season. Our defense is better than last year, even though I find it hard to believe. The starting defense has only let up 16 points, and that was in the first game againist the Mavericks of Marshall. We've dominate in all of our games, even againist West Monroe and Marshall.
The offense is much more balanced than last season. We have MANY more options to throw the ball to instead of just throwing it to Kelly, even though we barely used him last season. The Lobos are stacked and we have a great shot at doing what we all want to do. But thats a long way away.
We have Vondrell. We have Chris. We have Carlin. We have Adrian. We have D'Marcus. We have David. But we also have many more people that nobody knows about and that is going to help us so much down the road.

I have a small problem with SV getting more votes than Judson. Judson lost to a ranked team on a last second play on the opponents home field, where Judsons' kicker missed two PAT's and a FG. If Judson's kicker doesn't have an off night they probably win that game. SV lost to an unranked team. There is no way SV should get more votes than Judson. Now if SV beats Judson this week its a mute point, but if, when, and until that happens, no way should they be ahead of the Rockets. Can I get an AMEN!

Without even reading all of the posts in this thread, I will state like I have in times past that although it is nice to see your school ranked in the polls they really, really don't mean anything! The polls aren't going to get you into the playoffs or get you a state title. You have to go out and play for it. Thank goodness we have a playoff system and don't rely on the polls to determine who plays for the championships! :)

They don't look for them yet but they were playing hard teams with a close score margin, maybe they would vote for them like us. We had to play very very good teams and 1 more to go.

If your defense would have stopped that final play you could have still won. Don't blame your kicker for the loss. The defense still gave up the points. Just beat SV this week and the polls will take care of itself.

I def. think that Euless Trinity should be #2 but they have a very good chance beating Southlake Carroll and also Longview should be #4 instead of 3 because I can see that if they play us, it would be a close game. Were going to try to beat Euless Trinity this time in playoff if we beat other teams in the playoff possibly like Dallas Carter, Garland, and The Woodlands.

not "if", when, I will hold you to this statement, I know this game is in your house, but we played West Monroe in there house as well. and it will all be on television Thursday night

The West Monroe game wasn't in their house. It was a neutral site, we were the "home" team. I still think we'll come to play, and beat Tyler Lee in their house. Good luck to both teams.

That game was in Louisiana, is that our house. Trust me, if it was played in Texas that game would have been over early
Lobo9498

No, it wasn't our house, but it wasn't theirs either. It was in LA, and we made some stupid mistakes on penalties. Yes, there were a few questionalbe calls, but how can you say the game would've been over early if it had been in Texas? I think the same things would've happened even if it was in Texas. But, i guess we won't know will we? We won, who cares.

Linemen blocking below the waist is not a penality in texas

One thing I was wondering....when we played ECA last year we were the "home" team and played under Texas rules. This year, why didn't we have Texas refs and rules?
