Former Midland Lee Rebel - Blake Nichols passed away yesterday from injuries sustained in a car accident. If you remember - Blake was a heck of a receiver for the Rebels his senior year. Caught the 2point conversion that edged them past Duncanville in the play offs, I believe.
His family and his football brothers (most of the core group is still very close) really could use your prayers. :(
Friends and family of Blake Nichols mourned his loss while digesting the tragic news late Tuesday, but found comfort in their many fond memories of him.
Nichols' mother, Pam, said he truly loved his deaf cat.
"He said to me the other night, 'Mom, I don't know how anyone could love their kids any more than I love this cat.' He loved that cat," she said.
New Mexico State Police reported Tuesday afternoon that Nichols, a Midland Lee graduate, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup on New Mexico State Road 128. Ray Nichols said his son was driving a company truck to a well site in Carlsbad and had left home around 5 a.m. that morning.
