Iraq won the Asian Cup in soccer (cue Slorch ;) ). It was an surprise of monumental proportions and a great victory for the Iraqi team. However, a couple of suicide bombers decided to crash the celebrations. These terrorists don't deserve to be associated with anything Holy.

I can only hope that as each one of these cowards blows themselves up or get taken out by alliance forces, they get the complete opposite of whatever they were brainwashed to believe they'd receive in the afterlife.

I know this conflict has become a bit farsical now in this country, but I don't think there can be any let up in the pursuit of our enemies over there (and here). I don't believe these terrorists are going to stop fighting and planning attacks on this country if we leave Iraq. If anything, that activity will only increase because then they'll have seen clear weakness from the so-called super power.

It's amazing to me how similar this seems in some respects (vastly different in others) to the Soviet Union's occupation of Afghanistan in the 80s. They also came under intense pressure from their country to withdraw, and returned to a demoralized homeland and shortly after the Soviet Union crumbled. The mighty Red Army was fighting jihadists then just as we are now. We (USA) were playing a similar role in that conflict as we've accused Iran of doing in the current one as far as helping finance and embolden the opposition. A big difference is that the US is in much better shape as a country now than the Soviet Union was at that time. I won't deny we are fighting an enemy that we ourselves helped cultivate, but I believe this is a mess we need to clean up.

OK, that's my political post for the year. Back to the regularly scheduled OT programming.

You're the board moderator. You're not allowed to have a political opinion.
