Our son just spent a month up in Lubbock with his aunt. The wife and her sister(the aunt) met in Dublin yesterday to bring our son home. I told Mrs Slorch, as long as you're there, you'd might as well bring me back a case of Dublin DP!:D

In January, I switched to Diet DP. I have stuck with it. After 2 weeks, it didn't taste different to me anymore, and i am a lifelong DP drinker, and I'm talking 2- 44 OZers a day, plus a couple cans at the house. So my switch to Diet has cut about half-a-billion calories from my intake!:)

Honestly, now when I drink the regular DP, It seems too sweet and rich.
I can handle the Dublin DP though, it is the best!

Made from scratch cherry coke from Noles Drug Store in Roby Texas. The drug store is long gone but they made the soda's the old fashioned way with syrups and carbonated water from a special tap and stirred it with a long spoon and filled with ice. I can almost taste it now. What a treat:D

Fiji is spring water where Dasani, Aquafina, etc. are just purified tap water and there is a significant taste difference IMO, but I'm also water connoisseur. Fiji is my favorite because it has a very clean taste with the slightest hint of natural sweetness. I drink Aquafina a lot if I'm just running into a convenient store or something. I despise Dasani. It has a very metallic taste to me. My neighborhood United sells 1 ltr. cold Fiji waters for $1.39. Bargain IMO.

I've been drinking Diet for many years now. I'm like you, the real stuff is too sweet for me now.

Diet Mountain Dew is good too, but Diet DP is the best. Coke Zero is not bad really cold.

I just remember that when I was a kid, my Grandfather used to take me to an A&W drive-in somewhere near downtown Abilene. They would bring you that ice cold root beer in the frosty mugs. It was like drinking Heaven. Definitely the best drink I have ever had. There is an A&W burger place in Abilene on Buffalo Gap that has the mugs and root beer on tap. It's pretty good, but not what I had as a kid.

From an employee, i've had the fajita's, they are great. A little pricey but a good deal. I'm not big on buying fish, but everyone who gets the fish loves it. Happy hour monday-friday 4-7 pm. Award winning margarita's. IDK for how much longer but right now on wednesday's the suprema margarita's are half off. End's up being like 4.50

My son's best friend is from Del Rio and got me started on them and other Mexican sodas. The difference is they are made with real sugar instead of that nasty high fructose corn syrup. They taste cleaner to me. And yes, anything tastes better out of glass than out of plastic. I just wish they weren't so much more expensive. On second thought, if they were I would drink too many... :D

It is bottled at the oldest Dr Pepper bottler and, like the Mexican sodas I like, is made by the original recipe, with real cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. It is the only DP that tastes the way it did back in the fifties. My grandfather had a DP machine right outside the door to his mechanics bays. You put in a nickel, turned a crank, and out came those little glass bottles. :)

It's made with Imperial Sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup. Soda companies went with corn syrup sometime during the 70's because it was cheaper. All I have to say about the subject is that's the missing link to why I liked DP more in the 70's than the 80's and 90's. I never knew why it was better until I found out about Dublin Dr Pepper.

I think it completely depends on what the circumstances are.

If I'm eating a nice greasy hamburger or piece of pizza, Coke does it for me.
If I'm mixing bourbon with it, Coke and/or 7up does it.
Any other occasion, Dr. Pepper does it.

Although I gotta admit if it isn't one of these situations, for instance if I'm having a meal, it's water or beer/wine. I don't see a point in wasting the calories otherwise.

Our son just spent a month up in Lubbock with his aunt. The wife and her sister(the aunt) met in Dublin yesterday to bring our son home. I told Mrs Slorch, as long as you're there, you'd might as well bring me back a case of Dublin DP!:D

Did you get them in the classic old style bottles?
