This is from a blog...read what it says about Southlakes future at QB...
Daniel trainer: Not so hard on Texas Tech Former Southlake Carroll QB Chase Daniel turned into a national story leading Missouri to a 6-0 start before losing to Texas A&M on Saturday. Daniel has worked for several years with Kirk Byerly, who operates Fast Twitch at The Ranch, a workout facility next to the Cowboys' practice field in Irving's Valley Ranch.
Byerly, a speed and agility guru, was Texas Tech's strength coach from 1986-88.
"I told Chase to take it easy on my Red Raiders," Byerly said. Still working with many of the area's top athletes, Byerly said a player to watch as a contender to be Southlake Carroll's next quarterback after Riley Dodge: "Kyle Williamson is a 6-2, 6-3 freshman over there. He's a stud."

I'm not near the program on a daily basis but, I would think, if Williamson is as advertised he'll be a two year starter. Can Padron hold him off & get his year in the sun?

The battle for that position, post Riley, will be interesting. I believe it will be Padron's to lose. If you were him, would you rather play another year of JV to prepare for his senior year, or ride the sideline watching Dodge? Which one would give him the best preparation for the job?
On that "years to come" list, add the following- Parenti, Holliman, McPeek,Agnew, Abernathy,Sook, Powell, Adams, Popkin,Renger- all legitimate chances to start/impact their junior year, IMO.

I am not sure of the spelling but we had another move in for QB Piland. He split duties with Williamson in the spring. Williamson is a tough nosed kid and will not give the position away for lack of effort. Kyle Padron will have the job his senior year.

Williamson's older brother, Drew, is a walk on wide receiver at Texas A&M.. played on the 02 and 03 Dragon teams. Kyle has incredible size for his age, and skill to back it up.

Does it look like we will have 3 consecutive years with a senior, first year starter at qb? I realize alot can change but if Padron, Williamson & Piland are all as good as their potential indicates? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I remember thinking, how did Concord DeLasalle pull off their run, what 96 games? How does a HS have the reload ability to extend themselves over that many graduating classes? Anything can happen, I know, but the upcoming talent here at this school looks to have no end in sight- I think the incoming freshmen were strong locally as well. This is scary...
Mind you, my previous picks to click did not include sophomores Foster, Avers, Jackson and Osbourne who will likely all get a running start this fall.
The answer to my question above probably lies with coaches and Dodge's vision of what a successful program looks like, not just a successful team.

as the kids now understand, this tradition thing is more like the incoming tide, not a tsunami. it is for the long haul and requires a long-term commitment. as long as this philosophy remains intact, they'll be successful.

Y'all should see the new percussion section that is coming into Marcus this year. You think their drum line was good before wait a couple years and you ain't seen nothing yet.
I also heard the new crop of mascots that have moved up from Hedrick and Huffines Middle school in Lewisville has been among the best ever. I can't wait for halftime of those next 4 Lewisville/Marcus games.

Agreed DDaddy, this tradition slogan isn't just words and hype. It means something and that's no knock on others- no upcoming class wants to think they didn't hold up their end.

I think DLS run was 151 or something - But they are a private school. I think it would be a little easier to reload in a private school with a rich football tradition.
Also, Cali had sectional championships not State championships. So they may play 12-13 games and win their little section.
What SLC has done to this point is more impressive than what DLS did IMO.
By the way - I have seen SLC's 9th grade class - They are great. I think SLC's entire program (of the top teams) had like one loss. That was the JV to Trinity.

yes and yes. REM and the B-52's both got there start here in Athens. It is the live music capital of the southeast. Athfest was a few weekends ago and was awesome. Over 150 bands on 3 stages over 4 days. 15 bucks got you in all 4 days and the drinks were cheap. Lots of great music comes out of Athens and you can always find a good show on the weekends. The new big band out of this area is called The Drive By Truckers. The 40 watt club is the legendary place to play in Athens, bands such as Nirvana, Weezer, Pearl Jam, DMB and many more played 40 watts before they made it real big.
