I talked to a young man from Tyler the other day and he told me that he was going to Brookhill Private school in Bullard instead of playing in Tyler for JT or Tyler Lee. I asked him why this is happening. He said that one of the Pop Warner coaches was recruiting them for Brookhill, he said his name was Jackie Lee. The young man said that he got a "scholarship" to play at Brookhill that Jackie Lee helped him to get. Why would Tyler have a guy like this to run the pop warner, shouldn't he help keep kids in Tyler instead of helping them go outside of Tyler. I can't believe the people of Tyler would stand for this!

This Jackie Lee guy is not ringing a bell right now. Now one of JT's old assistant coaches, Coach Clap, works at Brook Hill part time, but I don't know if he is still with them this year. Brook Hill's coach quit 3 months ago and they have promoted from within from what I know. I am not worried about Brook hill or any of the private schools in the Tyler area period, because most of the kids in Tyler couldn't afford the tuition and JT and REL have too much of a following for it to happen on a large scale. Whitehouse is a MUCH bigger threat to the Tyler schools than Brook hill, All Saints, TK Gorman, and etc. I don't see major D1 schools knocking down the door of these 3rd rate private schools. Whitehouse has already got 4 players from REL already and they could be threatening REL's talent pool in the next few years if their program continues to grow into anything close to a 4A powerhouse.

No offense Johntylerfan, but the attitude of not worrying is what happens when they keep chipping away and chipping away, and all of a sudden you are losing them alot of kids. If this guy is helping give "scholarships" to kids and he helps coach the pop warner, I do have a problem with that, so should the community.

I have followed football in Tyler for 20 plus years and I don't recall this guy at all. As far as the players who transfered to Whitehouse, they didn't start for Lee nor were they going to. Private schools in the Tyler area is nothing new and it may take a few players but not many. Not Concerned at this point!!!!

never heard that name either...and i've been here all my life....if anything lee loses players to whitehouse...and that reason is bc those players know they cant start at lee and want playing time so they transfer to whitehouse for that!

as far as private schools go in tyler and the area.....i dont think tyler's talent will ever be dampered by the privates!

Brook Hill??? Ummmm....good luck with that. Maybe, for baseball or golf I could see leaving JT to play it..but not any other sport. No major worry here neither... Is Jackie Lee any kin to Buddy Lee?

People is steady moving south of Tyler to the "country" toward Gresham,Flint Bullard,Whitehouse & so thoses school will get alot of JT & Lee students. Now for Brookhill & private schools gettin players That happen at JT my Sr. year about ten of our guys went to T.K.G to play but that because we had so much talent that they would have rode the bench. That year T.K.G won state I believe.(1980) maybe A Gorman fan will tell me.

That is true. I think Whitehouse could be a force in 4A in the next 4 years if they continue on the path they are on. With that being said, I don't think they pose a threat to the Tyler schools in the immediate future, but could pull some kids down the road. It all depends on the state of the Tyler programs in the next 4 years as far as talent. JT has plenty of material to work with for the next 3 to 4 years if Coach Rush can keep the program together.

Don't let the fact that it is a private school fool you. the Ornelas family has put a lot of money into that school including the stadium...they are trying to make a east texas powerhouse and come into the UIL in the future...

bullard is growing very fast...this school may not be a danger now, but keep your eye's on them!

Now I know Brook hill has approached kids this year that are at JT or are going to JT. I know because I know the parents and relatives of the kids BH is trying to get. None of the kids took Brook Hill's BS line about scholarships and are commited to JT. JT and REL's name carry alot of weight still in the Tyler area and those 2 schools are the major players still in Smith county and this part of east texas.
