anybody with any common sense knows after watching the 2 lufkin and slc games that these 2 were very even. slc proved they were slightly the better team by showing more composure in the final minutes and seconds in both of them. lufkin had a big lead in the 1st game and slc came back, slc had a big lead in the second game and lufkin came back. both games were tied 30-30 with just a few minutes left and were almost identical. you just had a different team coming back. slc was slightly the better team but lufkin has better raw talent overall in my opinion. hardly anybody in the nation can compare to lufkin's div1 signees lately and that is a fact!! do not get me wrong slc has plenty of great talent and if i had a choice i would rather my panthers be the best team over the best talent.

I was not going to get into all the name callling, but I am proud of the way Lufkin has played the last few years. Whether Lufkin wins the game or loses the game the other team knows they have played one hell of a team! There are very few teams in the state that play as intense as the Panthers. They hit you and hit you. Ask anybody that has played them, nobody hits or tackles with more intensity than Lufkin's defense. They may not win the game on the scoreboard, but they do win on that part of the game! Just ask anybody that plays for Longview, Cedarpark, the Woodlands, any of the Conroe teams, Heck ask SLC! They all knew they played a great team when they played Lufkin. Looking at the spring drills the few times I have been able to go, next years defense will be even better than the last few years. Yes I am proud of the way the Lufkin Panthers play football.

this years defense should be at least twice as good. they could be as good or better then the 03 defense which i believe was the best i have ever seen at lufkin. that 03 defense had 5 div1 recruits even though it did not work out for some of those guys because of grades and trouble. that crew had darks, kirksey, hadnot, pilot, and sheppard.

the guy i think is our best defensive player right with mandela roberts and leonard hewitt is aj penson. many are talking about hurts and rtaylor on the d-line who are both very good but this aj penson is going to be a absolute hoss in my opinion. mark my words, he will be the next mckinner dixon. great size, strength, and athletic ability. college scouts will be drooling over him and he is only a junior. another player not many are talking about is jamie harris. leonard hewitt gets all the hype and rightfully so but this kid is the real deal at safety. good size runs a 4.4 flat according to the lufkin coaches stop watch. :) just wanted to get that straight after the 40 yard dash thread. lol he was the one that caught both the pflugy 4.2 guys with no angle in that playoff game. lol i guess there stop watch was really off that day. ;) i just hope they play hewitt both ways. he is a true playmaker and he is special. i would put him in the lineup every chance i had. he could be just like a mouton from katy a few years ago if they play at him at both defense and offense. this all depends if he is fully healed.

I was watching the tape of the Lufkin-Longview game, and I only saw the first quarter so far, and Longview was absolutely dominating that game with Lufkin, they should've been up 21-0, they couldn't be stopped except for the FB fumbling twice...Did Lufkin completely turn it around the rest of the way??

longview did dominate until we gave the game to Lane to take over. Just keep watching and tell me what you think. The best is when Lane is QB late in the game. What a game though, the electricity of both crowds was awesome. Cant wait until next year.

I did say IF. But barring significant injuries, we should be there. I won't forget 2001 when we were beat by one of those Garland teams. Injuries are the exact reason we lost that one.

LP im glad that your proud of the way your team played..thats cute..but i dont understand how you can sit here and say that teams wish they could play like lufkin..im oging back to the old saying..doesnt matter how you do it as long as you do it..the fact that you had all those D1 prospects and the fact that SLC had very little for what htey have done..dont you think yall should have out performed us? so in a sense you should really take notes on how SLC plays...two times in three years with two losses and lossing to the eventual state champ...i just cant see how anyone would want to play like lufkin when they could play like SLC...the difference is one less loss and two more wins..

we've been over this. both teams have reasons for pride in how they have played. only other teams even close are judson, katy and sv to our 2 teams successes. you will continue to be gascan louie i predict, but i also don't think the real pack posters will get bent out of shape over an obviously arsonistic tendency.

I found this info on the ET Supersite. Lufkin leads the series with Nac 59-19-8, BUT since 1940 Lufkin leads 52-7-1. Think about that, Lufkin has won 52 of the last 60 meetings with one tie! Twenty-three of the last 25! No wonder they used to vandalize our school and stadium. No wonder they get so fired up at the basketball and baseball games.

wow, what did anybody say to that slc fan to make him go crazy?? lol yes we are proud of our team for winning a state championship and going to at least the state semis three times in just four years. most would be proud. you can call it cute if you like but it does not bother me. lufkin won the 5a div2 championship in 2001. they lost to the eventual champs slc in 2002 33-30. beat the eventual div2 champs katy 35-14 in 2003. the same team that beat slc in the finals. lufkin lost to the eventual div2 champs slc 37-30 in 2004 but beat the eventual div1 champs tyler lee 44-33 that same year.

that is pretty dang impressive right there and i do not care who you are. :)

I think that Lufkin is right on par with SLC. I think they are like all the great NBA teams that played in the Michael Jordan era of basketball and the only reason people like, Barkley, Malone and Ewing don't have championships was because of Jordan. The only reason that Lufkin does not have atleast one championship in the past three years is because SLC was barely better than them.

i never in my life called coke pop that was my yankee parents when they first moved down bog. they are officially texans now because they have been here longer then iowa and they hate the cold. lol they do not say fixen too though. ;) i have been here since i was 4 even though i went to college in iowa for a few years i been in texas basically my whole life. i was born in missouri because that is where my dad went to medical school and i also lived in eerie pennsylvania. i do not remember though. my brother n law let me borrow that tape and i thought it was funny so do not worry i did not turn into a hick wide. :) and lol scooter on the mike jones reply!!

Has anybody heard who the new football coach will be at Nacogdoches? All I have heard about is an interim coach. My personal opinion is- hire a young coach that likes the spread offense. There is enough talent in that town to be competitive, they just need direction and somebody to build up their pride!

they need a young energetic guy that knows how to build a program from bottom to the top. they need a guy that can change the losing mind set and selfish attitude. you are right they have some talent but they have a disease from years of losing and they need somebody special to change things. a guy like outlaw would be perfect for this job but there is not many like him around.
