Trinitys Momentum Carried over friday night at a windy Cowboy stadium...a near capacity crowd watched the trojans tear apart this coppell team.
Trinity shot its self in the foot a couple of time during the first period of the game, but quickly bounced back beating the Coppell Cowboys 34-0. This is the second concecutive time Coppell has been shut out. Star running back Emmanual Moody was once again shut down by the Euless Trinity Defense, who help Moody under 100 yards (unoffially i havnt checked his stats tonight), for the second streight game. Euless Trinity running back ran all over the small Cowboy defense in there first 6-5A game.
that dance the trojans do is weird..i give y'all props...if any of you trojan fans saw or heard me after the game, i was the one standing up on top my car dancing to my car stero :)...
You guys are great, I wish you well the rest of the season...that might have been my last home game at Coppell Stadium ill see for awail, very emtional.

Its funny how at Pennington Field, the announcer pauses forever. He said
"At Cowboy Stadium in Coppell, at the end of the first quarter it is:
Trinity 13

(expecting some kind of surprise)

(crickets chirp)

Sorry I missed your dance. Trinity's defense was awesome and the offense looked great except for those darn penalties. Next week Trinity plays Irving Nimitz so maybe they'll have the problem with penalties worked out by then.
GO TRINITY TROJANS!!!

Hey, Coppell Cowboy u and the football team showed themselves to be full of plenty of class. The Cowboys played really hard, and Emmanuel Moody despite him meager stats(unofficially 48 yds. on 21 carries) is the real deal. However, this night was all about the Trinity defense and run game. Everything else shows room for improvement.

You are a true fan.
The fact that the Trinity defense shut out Coppell is not a shock to me, last year during the playoffs, the Trojan defense was solid, they are a quick defense that swarms to the the ball and will punish whoever has the ball. The fact that Trinity has got off to the start that they have is no shock to me, this team under Steve Lineweaver improves every year, and I think this particular team has special written all over it, good luck the rest of the way Trinity.

Coppells season is starting to look pretty bad, but you never know, we went 1-4 into the first half of the season last year and went 3-2 in the last half...but we need to find another weapon besides Moody

This week against MAC will give some insight to the Cowboys staying together as a team and moving toward a making the playoffs. They have played one of the most difficult schedules in the state so far and since Trinity will win district and go DI then everything reallly starts this next week for 2nd and 3rd place for the Cowboys.

omg, Euless Trinity has a big chance to beat Westfield and has a good chance beating Southlake Carroll this year. I am telling you, Trinity is not going to lose a game, I know most you think 1 game but I think its 0 so please remember this post for end of the season.

Trinity over midland lee by 29...carroll over midland lee by 26. I'll say Trinity by 3! :) JK, these two teams appear to be the two best teams in the state that i've seen play this year. I'm not going to go as far as to say either team "will" win state because I don't know what the future holds(injuries, grades, etc.) I will say that if trinity doesn't win state it is because something happened with in their team because right now the way they are playing the can beat anybody. Even if they win D1 I don't see to many people giving them credit unless they go through carroll so I'm just hoping DR and gvine pull through over colleyville.

Diffrence between slc and et on games against teams theve both played is 1 to ET...so ET wins by 1

I would give anything for a match-up between Trinity and SLC. I am sure Lineweaver would love this since he has a history with SLC. If Trinity goes Division 1 and wins it all and SLC goes Division 2 and wins it all, I believe most people would consider SLC the better team because of past performance. I am not sure this is fair to Trinity!

i believe that trinity will win d-1, and longview will defeat SLC at state so trinity will look like a better team i believe. slc doesnt seem to have the same touch as last year...

Thanks.. I just wasnt sure because of the "trinity" part. Usually, that would not be a public school name..
Do public schools play private schools here in Texas?
Are there any private schools over here that are worth a crap?

the private schools can give the public schools good competition. School that are in TAPPS 4A. (division 2) are roughly the size of a UIL 3A, Midland Chrisitan and Arlington Grace Prep both give public schools fits, Denton Liberty, Forth Worth Christian and Dallas Christian do the same. When I attended Liberty we played Celina all 4 years, we went 1-3, with all 3 defeats being close games, this time frame was 96-99. I know that Bishop Lynch as well as St Pius and others in Houston do the same. In Texas the privates have their own league, T.A.P.P.S (Texas association of Private and parochial schools) they have switched over to a division format now, but im used to the old classification system they used. If you ever get the chance to watch a Arlington Grace Prep or a Midland Christian, it would be worth the price of admission, Arlington Grace Prep is 4-0 right now playing all public schools and beat most of them pretty bad, including a 4-1 Sanger Indian team.
Another school on the rise is Plano Prestonwood, it is molded after Houston Second Baptist and has fielded a varsity football team for around 3-4 years now, they are 5-0 and have beat schools much bigger than they are, this week they play Arlington Grace Prep.
TAPPS is not near as competitive as the UIL, but there are plenty of quality football teams in it.

in all honesty farmerfan, Private school was the first ever high school football i ever watched... My sister was on the Drill Team at Trinity Christain Acadamy in Addison...(kinda ironic huh?), I watched there team win the TAPPS 4A state Championship 2x and saw them lose one to Bishop Lynch...For the record TCA Addison is had one of the best play-off records/state title records of all time in TAPPS
Also...You gotta take the Jesuits into account, both of them are private schools, but before they were UIL neither of them played in TAPPS they were in an Independent...

As opposed to other states, in Texas private schools do not have the top football programs. If you look at a team like Prestonwood most of their players were going to be back-ups or see little time somewhere else so they transfer to private schools. Yes, the private school can compete with smaller public schools but not with 4A or 5A schools minus the Jesuits.

That's odd how it works out like that.. Privates do pretty well in most states.
But I am still trying to figure out the UIL system over here.. They may have the privates "locked" out so to speak.

That's actually mis information.
The Texas public and private schools can compete (including 4A and 5A) in predistrict games. But unless you belong to the UIL, you aren’t going to be put in a district, or be eligible to compete in the post season for UIL state titles. The two Jesuit school (having to play as independents and not belonging to TAPPS, because of their size) sued to belong to UIL. Many of us regret the day that UIL agreed to let these two privates into the UIL. But ( the short story is) the uil decided that letting in the two Jesuits was better than the prolonged (my description) court battle that was going to come from resisting.

Yes, I understand they can play but what I was trying to say was they cannot compete with the bigger public schools, example at hand Bishop Lynch and HP, the final score 58-14.

yeah MOST...here me..MOST private schools can not compete with 5A-4A texas football...now some of the bigger private schools can compete with 3A maybe 4A schools..
the two Jesuit schools competed against 5A schools anyway...it was that big of a deal to let them in anyway

OK,
But in my way of thinking, to be able (allowed) to compete and to "be competitive" are two different things.
Just remember that you are trying to explain to an out of state fan, the Texas relationship between privates vs. publics. And it's just not the same as Ca, OH, La, etc. ("Thank goodness" or "yet" depending on your version of the Pandora's box theory!)

The Highland Park/Lynch comparison is a big misleading, not many public schools have been able to compete with Highland Park either. I am not saying that a private school would win a 4A/5A state title, but given the size of the private schools, they would more than hold there own in a UIL3A and below. TCA Addison has a enrollment of a small 4A, same with Lynch and Nolan. Those schools for years have played and beat public schools of similar size.
Also gooseland, you have a point about these guys being backups at public school so they go to privates, but that is rarely happens. A school like Prestonwood, Dallas Christian, Liberty and TCA have had kids at their schools since kindergarten, and many times those kids would have started at their respective public school. When I played at Liberty, we had kids that had been there since elementary, they would have gone to schools such as Ryan, Denton High, Marcus and Lewisville, and they all would have started at those schools. So it doesnt always work out the way you might think.
As CCHS as said, many of the UIL fans were not happy when they allowed the Jesuit's into the UIL, i was one of those and believe that the privates belong in TAPPS, and the publics in the UIL. I always thought the enrollment issue of the Jesuits was weak, TAPPS said they were to big belong in TAPPS, but in the UIL you have schools with enrollments of 5000+ playing against schools with enrollments of 2500 and less.
