They did play them tough, but once again showed they aren't deep playoff contenders.

I just got to say that this is the worst loss ever. 1st and goal down 4 points with 3 minutes left and we can't punch it in, topped off by Joe being sacked on the 4th and Goal. And if we didn't fumble the ball on the first play of the game, who knows.

Unfortunately the Blue Raiders got introduced to the harsh reality of the toughest district in the state, every play can be the difference.

One thing for sure is that when MacArthur jumped out to a 7-0 lead 10 seconds into the game and then a 14-0 lead (off of a push-off on a fade that wasn't called by the refs) 4 minutes into the game, they did absolutely nothing the rest of the night. It reminded me very much of the North Mesquite game only this time we kept our heads up and came back. We had their backs against the wall the whole game and I think we proved something tonight. Mac was in a constant state of "What is going on here" the whole game. If there was a stat of the game, this would be it:
MacArthur pass interference penalties: 0
Bell pass interference penalties: 5
And that hurt, especially on that last drive, 3rd and Goal from the 8, our reciever #80 was being grabbed onto by two different defenders way before the ball hit his hands. It angered our coaches so much that it got us a delay of game penalty. Plus, Mac's last TD was aided by a blown pass interference call on us, 3rd and 31 and our CB #9 hardly even touched him, flag. Their 2nd TD they scored was also on a blatant push off that wasn't called.

Ridge did the same against Irving- however it was
Ridge up by 4 points with the ball first and goal from about the 4 yd line with 3mins left in the game.
We went 4 and out. Irving drove 95 yards and scored a TD with 12 sec remaining. 1st time Irving led in the game.

It kills you doesn't it. We had a chance though after that sack, there was 2:14 left. It was 3rd and 12 with 1:59 left after we used our last timeout and we needed the stop. However, Dervin Speight #21 took it 52 yards up the middle and that was the ball game.
" BEDFORD – Brett Harris broke up a third-down pass at the goal line and Justin Gent sacked Hurst L.D. Bell quarterback Joe Mauro on fourth down with two minutes remaining to preserve Irving MacArthur's 21-17 win in the District 6-5A opener at Pennington Field.
MacArthur (4-0, 1-0) has won 17 straight regular-season games.
After MacArthur's goal-line stand, Dervin Speight, who rushed for 153 yards, iced the game with a 47-yard run.
Bell is 1-3, 0-1. "

You know what surprises me is that they didn't have that Justin Gent blocked, that kid is no joke.

Our line isn't very big, strong, fast, or physical, but they work hard. They really stepped up in the 2nd half and did a great job. With that being said, they just weren't physical enough on that last drive. They messed up the play on 1st and goal, we still got 2 yards though. Then they let Justin Gent go by untouched. They had a great 2nd half however that made up for a horrid 1st half blocking wise, and they played their best half of the year. Just couldn't get it done when it mattered the most.
