So Cy-fair fans, give us the scoop. Is it looking like Michigan for sure or will it be an unexpected team?

Everything seems to point towards him going with Michigan, but does anyone wonder if he could pull a Harvey Williams on Michigan?

Blast from the past, nice. I can't speak intelligently because I do not know this youg man at all. Is Michigan his dream school? That can count for alot. With his skills every university in the nation has shown interest. I would tend to believe the Big 12 and SEC have made every promise in the world to him. They say most kids will make their choices base on the best fit for what they want balanced against it's proxemity to home. Sam is not most kids on the field but maybe he is off it and things change. If they do a local school gets lucky and we get the chance to see him more on Saturdays. The Wolverines have got to be excited about the possibility of a Mallet/McGuffie backfield though.

I don't know if it's his dream school, but he's originally from Michigan and his father is supposedly a Michigan fan, so it's possible. It also helps that he's friends with Ryan Mallett and Darryl Stonum.
It looks pretty good for Michigan. We'll see on Sunday.

Just for fun if you could choose were Sam went to school(other then Michigan) where would you choose and why?
In a purely selfish way I would say the University Of Houston, because I would be able to see him play as often as I like, and I would never have to worry about tickets being available. :)
Do u consider Sam McGuffie one of the top playes in USA

Texas Tech. I think he would fit perfectly in their offense. He would be scary in the slot or at rb. At rb, with Tech's offensive line splits, he would be hard to stop in open space. He would make a great slot receiver in their offense too. Much like Wes Welker was utilized (Punt returner, kick returner, slot receiver).

I'd love to see this kid in Denton at the University of North Texas. Remember, you said for fun & we choose. Can you imagine the numbers & highlights that would be produced playing in Dodge's offense. A running back with Sam's gifts of speed, vision, instinct & explosion in that offense with all the lanes & space to create in would be deadly. If Sam had been in the Carroll backfield last year, we may have seen the first 4000 yard runner & passer combination ever.

I wouldn;t mind Sam going to A&M as A&M is only 70 mile from Where I live, but getting game tickets might be a problem.

Not too difficult. There are usually a few for sale out front of the stadium (scalpers!). I have had my season tickets for a few years now. Hopefully I get to see a little of Roger and Derrick this next year. The addition of Sam would be great!:D

I should have said getting tickets at face value might be a problem. Just on principle I refuse to pay more then face value for a ticket, and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay a ticket scalper err broker.

there are always tickets available at face value or below at the stadium on game day. students just trying to recover cost, as well as no-shows. you can even check the will call shack on the south east entrance and pick up tickets that players/coaches/etc have left for folks that don't show. these are always good seats. its been quite awhile (tu in '05) since kyle field was sold out.

There must ve some rumblings because the Michigan message board is staying he may be having a change of heart. Could be good news for A&M as various sources are saying he wants to visit A&M again before deciding.

Realistically speaking I would prefer Sam go to A&M as it's close to Houston, and it's still a big enough program and in a major conference.
Juts imagine, J Lane, M Goodson, and S McGuffie in the backfield or slot!!!:D

still need a great kicker, though...
And if A&M had all that talent in place Coach Fran would find a way not to win the BIG 12:)

If I am Fran, and Sam decides to come to Aggieland, I have the boy returning punts and KO's from day 1.
No chance of taking Mike or Jorvorskie's job this first year. Bradley Stephens doesn't exactly suck either... Regarding in the slot? We have a young man from Lufkin who might have a little to say about a freshman coming in and taking his spot.

Not McGuffie. It was OL Daniel Campbell from Aldine. He's going to USC.

McGuffie will get a free visit to College Station this weekend for 7 on 7. I still wonder about Fran's job security. A&M plays a tough schedule this year, and haven't had much luck in the 2008 recruiting class so far.

The inside word is that he's waiting for the Aggies 'Game Night' to make his final decision, which bodes well for TAMU.
I just hope we don't lose yet another talent to an out of state program. :( By we, I mean Texas as a whole.

If McGuffie goes to M&A you might as well kiss his talent good bye seeing as how Coach Franchokey has a knack for killing great talent. I would hate to see such a talented kid get wasted like this.

Every year, eh?
Nobody competes for a national title 'every year'. As far as why? For starters it's close to home.
I won't justify your WAY below the belt comment about TAMU with a response on that particular subject.

I think the important thing for any recruit today, regardless of where they go, is that they pick a school based on the overall package and not just because they connected with a certain coach or coaching staff. Rarely are coaches secure in their jobs, especially at the college and pro level. It seems there are quite a few players transferring these days because they aren't choosing schools for the right reasons initially.
If McGuffie picks A&M because he likes the school, what it offers him overall in addition to football, and feels it will best help his development then more power to him. The same goes for Michigan.

i agree i dont think that a great running back should go to a school that is known for great quarterback throwing 50 times a game and breaking every passing record out there...hawaii, tech, etc.. he also might want to consider the fact that he needs to get some pt early on as well. UNT would be the perfect offense but i dont think the school is big enough for him.

what is special about the 15th? is it because of the visit to a&m? and any decision made 8 mo early is possibly not set in stone.

If he was smart, he'd go to FSU and play for Bobby B. and Jimbo Fisher...Fisher would work wonders with a kid like Sam.

I'm pretty sure its between A&M and Michigan.
During practice I'd always tell him to go to Michigan cause I'm a UM Fan.
But I wouldn't mind seeing him go to A&M since thats where I'm going to school.
Just as long and he doesn't go to OU, USC, or Ohio St. I'm fine wherever he goes.
