this thread may be moved to off topic but i just had to tell what ive observed in lufkin with rita looming...last night i helped people from a retirement home in galveston get off a bus and enter a different retirement home after a 9.5 hour trip and saw the smile on there face when i brought in their belongings or handed them a meal...tonight i went to my church and saw people watching the news...some were sobbing and one of them asked me to change the channel because they saw there neigborhood...some were reading bibles or books and seemed calm but some had a look of shock watching the hurricane float accross the gulf...and tonight at a local gas station i saw strangers paying other strangers for gas cards...now i have seen bad...for instance i went into the local brookshire brothers and there was one loaf of bread left and there was an elderly man who had put it in his buggy and turned to get somthing else and another person came up and took the old mans buggy and went to checkout...i went up to the old man who watched as this was going on and i offered to pay for groceries for him and he said...its sad that a man must steal to survive but thats life i guess...i just sat there and thought if someone had takin my buggy full of food would i be this calm or would i have gone after the guy...just things ive seen in lufkin that have made me stop and think...what if i was the one who was stopped on a highway with the uncertainty of when i would get to where i was going
