I know its a short week (Thursday game) and Tx A&M got about 2 practices. But, Texas State looks really good in the first half against A&M at College Station.

I wont be surprised to see them have a very good season in the Southland Conf. and make a pretty good run in the D-1AA playoffs.

PS. They look better then SMU.

TSU wont win, but aggy has very little good to take out of this game (though I'm sure somebody will try). The TSU QB and offense has sliced and diced that pathetic aggy D all night. There are many teams including Tech, Texas and maybe even Baylor and Mobilhoma that have to be licking their chops right now. To say that D looks like crap would be an insult to crap everywhere.

Ya... their not going to beat them now. The A&M depth is now getting them. But, Texas St played with them and A&M defense isnt that good.

Texas and Tx Tech are going to crush them. Heck, Oklahoma is probably going to beat them.

Its going to end up being a blow out but Texas St has really given A&M a pretty stiff game and the final score wont be a true indicator of how the game was played overall.

Hey Wide.. you remember this Barrick Nealy kid from Houston. He played his first couple of seasons at UH then transferred to Texas St.

He was like a poor mans Vincent Young coming out of High school. I'll tell you what .. the kid can play and his looking good against A&M.

Shooo, if I was an aggy I wouldnt be saying much after watching this game. If this was Texas playing Texas St it would be like 60-0 right now.

A&M looks like crap overall. Haha, as I'm typing this Texas St just scored a td. A&M isnt that good overall. Maybe they came into this game not very motivated or something.. I'm sure they'll be more pumped up for Texas but dang, they look sorry tonight against a team they should be killing..

Their offense is alright.. I wouldnt get to excited about what their doing against SMU & Texas St (D-1AA school). Remember Texas Tech played Sam Houston last week and could of put easily over 100 on them.

Tx A&M didnt run all over Clemson (their only real comp so far).

Overall I would say A&M doesnt look that good. They had a couple of lucky breaks in this game against Texas St ( unforced turnovers and penalities) that have given them about 20 pts really.

I know they have an absolute star in Reggie and if they can block for them the offense will be solid to good to very good. Lewis is a good runner!! aggy won 44-31 I think. Yeah, that's right... aggy gave up 31 points to a freakin' D-1AA team and it would have been much worse (maybe even a loss) if it wasnt for all of TSU's stupid penalites and a few bad turnovers.

BTW, the aggy Wrectum Crew defense allowed a Div. 1AA QB to complet almost 75% of his passes 378 yards and 3 TDs to just 1 INT, but that INT was because the bonehead TSU receiver couldnt hold on to the ball and he tipped it right into the aggy's hands. The TSU QB also carried the ball 4 times for 47 yards and a TD. Just flat embarassing. You know Cody Hodges was watching this game and just drooling with anticipation. Same goes for Vince Young, Joel Klatt, Shawn Bell and Brett Meyer. Hell, I think even Rhett Turnover may have cracked a smile.

Yeah, I love how people mocked Tech for giving up 21 points because the 3rd string D was in. Shoot, A&M gave up 31 (and should of been more) with their all mighty Wrecking crew. lol. I would of died if they would of lost. Whats worse than losing to Baylor away... losing to TX state at home. lol. Wide, UT and Tech will battle it out to who will embarass A&M more, I see Tech hanging at least 60 and Texas going into Kyle field and hanging at least 50, its going ot be ugly and reality should be seeting in to all aggie fans that Tech has far surpassed them as the number 2 football school in this state.

Where did you get the idea that this is the 3rd best team in the Big 12. Granted, some of the pre-season rags had it that way, BUT.

Right now Texas, Texas Tech, and Iowa State should all be ranked in front of Aggie. Probably Colorado too, and by the end of the season OU will probably be better than the Ags. Aggie is probably sixth or fifth, fourth at the very best. If I were Aggie I would just be praying for a W against Baylor at this point.

My thoughts exactly, I have been one of the only ones supporting the Pac 10 this year, and there are some that refuse to believe that the Big 12 could be a weaker conference than the PAC10.

Their game agaisnt the Ducks will tell us a lot. Cal has a good record, and a #13 record BUT.... we saw what happened last years team, which was much better, against Tech in the Rose Bowl. UCLA looks like a darn fine squad, but Texas would eat them for lunch--- and Tech would run circles around their defense. They would be, at best the 2nd best team in the Big 12. The other teams in the PAC-10, save Washington and Arizona (both terrible) are unknown quantities right now, despite their records.

Don't read too much into the fact that Aggie laid a stinker. Overrating the Aggies is a perennial thing with the preseason mags. The more I think about it, its possible that Aggie might not finish at .500.

I do think that the Big-12 is way, WAY down this year. I don't know if I'm ready to start labeling the PAC-10 a power conference.

No way is Texas nipping at the heels of USC, if they played today, USC would destroy Texas or any team in America for that matter, I think it would also be safe to say that the PAC 10 as far as quality of teams go, is better than the Big 12 and not far behind the Big 10, after the first 3 weeks of football, the Big 10 has been somewhat of a let down, but I think that will change as they are usually tough during the bowl season.
I am not ready to admit the Pac 10 as a power conference yet either, however the results in bowl games and non conference games speak very highly of the Pac 10.
Also with Cal going to the Holiday bowl, I think you saw a bit of the UT syndrome in that game, remember there were years when UT felt slighted about going to that game and came out and played terrible and lost to WSU and Oregon and barely defeated Washington, I think a lot of the reason's behind Tech's big win has to do with that factor, and the injuries to Cal's receivers, Cal was without a important part of their offense that game, if they were healthy it would have been a much closer football game.

There was talk a few years ago of Texas St moving into D-1A football. Many people think that was a "front" so the program could improve its football facilities & stadium,, but that they were never serious about actually moving into D-1A.

USC is one of the nations best no doubt. UCLA will make a run for the Pac-10 title this year and is probably the Conference #2 team.

* Stanford got beat by Cal-Davis rather badly.
* Oregon had to scrap out a win against Houston.
* Cal had to scrap out a win againt Ilinois plus playing Sacremento St in game one aint nothing to jump about.

* Washington St has played powers ( Idaho, Neveda & GRAMBLING).

* Oregon St. has played Portland St and got blown out by Louisville.

Right now the powers in the Big-12 appear to be:

Texas, Texas Tech who I would put up against USC and UCLA and feel pretty good about at least going (1-1) at worse.

I would put :

Missouri -- Washington St
Oklahoma -- Oregon
Kansas St - Oregon St
Iowa St -- Ariz ST.

Kansas ST.= win over Florida International and a freebie from Marshall
Nebraska= IAA Maine, 7-6 over a bad 0-3 Pitt team and Wake
Kansas=Florida Atlantic, Appalachian St and Louisiana Tech.
Texas Tech= 2 1-AA teams

Not like the Big XII is just overwhelming anyone I mean look at the situation.

Oklahoma St= 2 1AA teams plus Florida Atlantic only beat Montana ST 15-10
Kansas ST.= win over Florida International and a freebie from Marshall
Nebraska= IAA Maine, 7-6 over a bad 0-3 Pitt team and Wake
Kansas=Florida Atlantic, Appalachian St and Louisiana Tech.
Texas Tech= 2 1-AA teams
Texas A&M= loss to Clemson beat 1-AA team
Missouri= loss to New Mexico St beat 2 1-AA teams
And we all know about OU!!

I don't think the Pac-10 is a powerhouse conference but it's not like the Big XII has proven anything either ;)

You beat me to it, the Big 12 has been far worse than the PAC 10 this year and only people in this part of the country would disagree with that.

All the Big 12 has to show for itself is Texas and Tech, and neither one of them could stay on the field with USC, could they beat UCLA? it would be a much closer football game than many people think, but after Tech and Texas the big 12 takes a deep nose dive, the PAC 10 has USC, then Oregon, UCLA, Arizona State, and tough Washington State and Oregon State teams. I would without hesitation say this year that the Big 12 is the weakest of all the BCS conferences.

It sucks how week the Big 12 will be this year. Right now, only two teams have proven anything...UT is for real, and Tech is beating teams they should, like they should.

AM had a letdown at Clemson, blew up SMU (as they should have), and barely beat TSU.

Nebraska goes 7-6 against Pitt...with a whole 96 passing yards...HA!!!

K St is weak barely beating a I-AA team and then the Marshall debacle.

KU has played a weak schedule and not won by enough for me.

Baylor, while being 3-0, still only beat Army by 10.

ISU is actually having a good season, knocking off Iowa.

Colorado hasn't shown anything...maybe Miami will change that?

You say people laugh at aggie all across this state, well that comes with every school, people in Lubbock and CS laugh just as much at texass, as do people in austin and cs laugh at lubbock, it comes with the rivalry.
You laugh at aggie traditions, well there are some taht are seen as awesome as well, Muster, Taps, Midnight Yell, Senior Ring, the 12th man, all those are seen as awesome traditions, you leave the boundaries of Texas and many will tell you that. Go to blacksburg Virginia, or Clemson or Pitt or even ND and their fans will tell you how awesome a experience they had in College Station. You ask thsoe same VA-Tech fans about Texass and they tell you nothing but horrible things of how their fans were at the 95 Sugar Bowl or how the Texas fans treated Virginia or Nortre Dame when they came to Austin. I also think the best thing I have ever heard was when Deloss Dodds wrote a letter to the Ohio State athletic department concerning the treatment that Texas fans received, i mean this coming from a fan base who is notorious for being arrogant, and hostile to anything not in puke orange.
You also laugh at the dead dogs, but the sedated nutless bevo's might be just as funny.

Oklahoma has already shown their not that good this season and UCLA is probably the #1 or #2 team in the Pac-10.

Texas A&M hasnt looked good. But, they did lose to Clemson on a last second FG and Clemson just took Miami to OT (Both games at Clemson).

And YES.. I would put Texas & Tx Tech on par with USC & UCLA. Toss up games both of them.

You put the rest of the Big-12 (10 teams) up with the other Pac-10 ( eight teams) and you would get toss-up games for the most part.

The whole Virginia Tech experience is over-rated...You have to remember I was stationed in Norfolk and dealt with Va. Tech fans constantly. And a Hokie is a castrated turkey...nuff said.

And if UT starts a graveyard for all of the old Bevos outside the stadium...and has a special scoreboard just for them to see the score...then you can make comments about Bevo. Yeah, Texas Tech's games are a little easy. Va. Tech had a pretty tough season opener at NC State (everyone expected it to be tough). And then had two easy games with Duke and Ohio. But The Hokies are gonna have a game tomorrow vs. Georgia Tech AT Blacksburg...which has been rated the toughest place to play i believe...

All i know is Iowa St. beat my Iowa Hawks and Iowa has been one of the toughest teams in the nation the past 3 seasons. I think Iowa st. played out of their mind vs their rivals that usually abuse them and they had a blessing when Tate went out early in the 2nd. Iowa st still has talent and potential. They are 8-1 in their last 9 and are one of the hottest teams in the nation in that time span. We will see how big and real or a fluke that Iowa st win over Iowa is tommorrow when Iowa goes into the shoe to play Ohio st. Iowa beat Ohio st by 30 at Iowa last year where they have won 20 in a row. :eek: But that was last year and Iowa might not be near as good as last year do to the very very young and inexperienced defensive line.

I just told you that its probably not a great year for the Big-12.. But, I wouldnt be so fast to announce to the world that the Pac-10 is stronger. Pac-10 still hasnt done much in my book to proclaim they're better then the Big-12 other than UCLA beating Oklahoma.

Oklahoma has already shown their not that good this season and UCLA is probably the #1 or #2 team in the Pac-10.

Texas A&M hasnt looked good. But, they did lose to Clemson on a last second FG and Clemson just took Miami to OT (Both games at Clemson).

And YES.. I would put Texas & Tx Tech on par with USC & UCLA. Toss up games both of them.

You put the rest of the Big-12 (10 teams) up with the other Pac-10 ( eight teams) and you would get toss-up games for the most part.

The team that will probably end up being the most under-rated out of all of them is Texas Tech.

Please dude.. I've been to about 15 Texas games in person and about 4 Aggy games in person. There is no comparison about who puts more into the Horns vs Aggy game. The Aggies live their whole year on just beating Texas and their fans show it when they wear Anti-Texas stuff at every homegame.

Go to a Texas game...!!! You'll see 1/10 in Austin of what you would see in Kyle Field.

Do you notice who alot of the other Top #25 teams play ?? Last year Auburn finished #2 and alot of people believed they were #1. I think they played such National powers as La Tech and La-Monroe to start the season out. Hell I even believe they played another pushover early.

Last time I just looked Texas went to the "horseshoe" and beat a very powerful Ohio St team. I know you dont want to look at that though.

Plus, dont act like you knew Oklahoma was going to have a down year (like its looking).

But, the argument that the Pac-10 is stronger then the Big-12 doesnt hold alot of water.. Not yet at least. Lets give it a couple of more weeks and see how the first half of the season plays out before everyone starts touting this and that Conference is better.

I'll just leave out the fact that over the last 7 or so years the Big-12 has pretty much owned the Pac-10 in about 65% of the head to head games.

and you guys knock aggie, while Texas plays the like of LaLa and Rice, 2 temas who would not beat Texas State or SMU, factor that into Texas backing out of a game at Hawaii a few years ago or playing UNT and NMSU, and the schedule Texas has is nothing to brag about. The Ohio State win was big, but dont be shocked if OSU is a 3-4 loss team this year, they have already lost to Texass, and going to Michigan and hosting Iowa are games that they are very capable of losing, then with the bowl game anything can happen, so at the end of this year we could be seeing tOSU with 4 losses on the year.

Almost mathematically impossible. Auburn was left out of the national title game for one reason and one reason only... their starting place in the rankings. Auburn was ranked #16 in the nation to begin last year. Even though they went undefeated, they had too much ground to make up during the course of the season. As long as Mobilhoma went unbeaten, it was almost mathematically impossible for Auburn to catch up and surpass the land thieves in the BCS rankings.

That same thing probably wont happen this year. The odds on favorite to win the Big XII is Texas. Texas started the year in most polls at #2 or at least in the top 5. Put it this way... Texas has a far better mathematical chance of surpassing USC in the BCS rankings as the #1 team, then Auburn did of making it to #2 last year. There is a reason that people are already saying it will be Texas vs. USC if both teams win out. Because of the way the teams were hyped early on, they started out so high in the early polls. There are only a couple of teams that can go unbeaten and jump Texas in the polls and that would be either LSU or Florida for the simple fact that they play in, far and away, the toughest conference in college football. However, if Ohio State puts together a great season... the other teams can kiss it goodbye. That may not even matter though because Texas' huge win at Ohio State is still going to be in voters minds all the way into December.

I'm not at all sold on the Pac 10 yet. This is one of the biggest fraud conferences around and has been for a while. Sure, USC is good and there may be another team finish with a good record (Oregon), but, as usual, the top 1 or 2 teams in the Pac 10 will have to deal with the fact that the rest of the conference is a joke and is matched only by the Big East in terms of sucktitude. I'm gonna wait until conference play before I start bowing to USC or the Pac 10. Right now, the ranked teams from the Pac 10 haven't played anybody. Arizona State is the only team that has played a worthy opponent when they lost to #5 LSU. The only other Pac 10 team to play a ranked opponent was Oregon when they played, and almost lost, to #23 Fresno State (who is no longer ranked). Other than that the record of their combined opponents is 12-27. USC has played two horrible teams (Pig U. ranked #72 out of 119 and Hawaii ranked #102 of 119) and already people are running in fear. Tell me where people were picking Tech to compete for the conference title, on this board or in the media? The Big XII is a good conference, but it is not the best and it is not what it should be. The Big XII is a lot like the Pac 10 in that there are a few good teams, but the whole conference is pulled down by all the crappy teams. Nobody can argue that Mobilhoma and Texas have been very good the past few years and few will argue that Tech is a legit top 25 program on the rise, but those teams and the Big XII South in general cannot bring up an entire conference that includes mediocre or poor performing teams like Kansas, Baylor, Iowa State, Nebraska, etc. The same is true for the Pac 10. USC has been good as has Oregon over the past few years. Every now and then another team like Arizona State or Cal may have a decent year, but those good teams cannot lift up a conference that includes such bad teams as Arizona, Stanford, Washington, etc.
