no way that Westlake should be ranked above Leander in those rankings.

Think about this for a minute. For most districts you only have three non-district games. To rate high you would have to play teams that are ranked higher than you. If you are a the best team in you district it will appear that your schedule is not very strong since you are play teams (that you have to) that are lower than you. The are only a few teams on this list that have scheduled tough non-district game. Teams like Tyler Lee, Midland Lee are just a couple of examples. Take a team like Belton for example they scheduled Abilene in non district and have to play A&M Consol, Copperas Cove, and Waco in district. Their strength of schedule will appear tough because of the rankings of the teams they are playing. By example look at Copperas Cove who played Converse Judson in non-district and A&M Consol, Waco, and Belton in district. Copperas Cove schedule doesn't look as tough, in this rating because they are ranked higher than most of the competition that they have to face.
Anyway these are just my thoughts. I don't put a lot of credit into strength of schedule numbers.

If Carter is Ranked #210 through the 1st four games. (schedule Stength?)
Arlington Sam Houston
Arlington Lamar
Dallas Kimball
Garland
I can imagine what we will be ranked when district comes around. :)
I don't get upset by these ranking systems anymore, but I sure did in the past. They are for entertainment purposes only. Like a Psychic Reading.

I'm going to shoot down your argument because although Cove beat Judson,
WE'RE STILL 3 POINTS IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE POWER POLL! It has nothing to do with if you're better than the teams you played and everything to do with how good your opponents are compared to other team's opponents. You are right about district play and how the worst team in district has the hardest district schedule.

If you look at the 265 teams in the rankings, they are all up there because of their district schedule. There were some tough non-district games too, but the strength of the district will dictate where you fall.

None of the rankings so far involve any district games. They'll stay at the top because of the district, though.

I understand that the rankings do not have any district games in them but these non-district schedules were mostly made last year and schools would have to break contracts to schedule different games. My post earlier wasn't to mention that Cove beat Judson this year. That game was great to watch and could have been won by either team. Waco has had a tough non-district schedule and are currently 0-3 with a strong strength of schedule rating. Is Waco a better team than Cove or A&M, I don't think so but the strength of schedule has them ranked higher. I just think all of these polls need to be taken with a grain of salt.
So Lonny how long have you been in the Air Force? I spent 20+ years in the Army and retired about 4 years ago. I have a good friend that is a Air Force weather guy and is getting ready to go to Omaha NE.

I've been in a little over 14 years and might go to 30. Deploying for 3 straight and next year being probably 4 straight years hasn't dampened my desire to stay in.
I do think a good schedule goes a long way to being successful in the playoffs. The main thing is winning the tough games and not just playing them.

All seven 12-5A teams are in the top 12 of the toughest schedule listing and I predict they will stay there, the teams they played were top caliber teams with at least three of the top 4A teams you know ECA will win out in Louisiana 1A, as will West Monroe in that state's 5A, Colerain will fair well in Ohio, as will Euless Trinity...Inside District 5A I think there are going to be some fierce battles, even for my Lobos, they will be the target and I know Tyler Lee would like to get it's name back and what better way than to beat the Lobos...12-5A will be tough...

I expect that they will stay close to the top. It's a necessity in that district. They all know they need a good non-district schedule to prepare for district. It's the same in 3 and 26.
