Hey guys I'm new to this forum, but not this site. Anyways, I just wanted to have a dicussion about these teams and the 265A district. I don't go to madison games much anymore except for my own, this is because there play hasn't been to exciting. Lot's of turnovers and such. Anyway, I've been eyeing Mac, and it looks like they're on a roll. I do believe this a changed team from last year, but in a sense the same team. They've beaten boerne yes, but that's it. I want to see them come District play time. Yes, I An Anti-Mac, but im just callin what i see. Churchill looks like they're rolling also, but I doubt they could beat SV. It's a lil too early right now to see who's rolling or not. I base a team's play when they play their own district.

Heck, if your anti-Mac...your a friend in my book. Welcome to the site.
Are you gonna try and make the Reagan-Mac game tomorrow? I think that's the only 26-5A game goin' on tomorrow...

Edit: nvm i found out In addition, the Roosevelt vs. Madison game is now scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Comalander Stadium. It was originally set for Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.

Welcome to the sight. The way I see it playing out is Judson and Smithson Valley will finish 1,2 in which ever order you want to call it. Then Madison, Churchill, Reagan, and Roosevelt battling for that third spot. Mac did win a marginally big game against Boerne, but they are 4A. I do not wish the worst for them, but after watching them play Clark they would have to have gotten alot better to compete in 26-5A.

bubbacoach. Just to let you guys know Mac is a lot better then Week Zero. The offense as been getting better each week and the key has been the distribution of the ball to all options. During the scrimmage and week Zero, Udell was really locked in on Richards and Craig. Mac started playing Schmidt (backup QB) and they worked really hard on making sure all options are being used. That's the key to this offense working because it will attack the other teams weakness. Udell has stepped it up and now is utilizing all his options. Schmidt has been a big key to this because he was actually running the offense better. With the coaching and the fact that he saw how Schmidt was making it work, I believe his confidence in the other players has gone to the next level and that's why it's working better. It was better against Taft and against Boerne it looked better again. The problem that Mac is going to give other team's is that they won't be able to cover all of the options (the 4 WR,Craig and Udell or Schmidt win they run). I have not seen any teams so far that have a dominate defense in 265a (have not seen SV, Judson or Roosevelt). Teams don't seem to prepare for it because there are not many teams that can run it. Mac can with Richards, Odom, Westbrook, Scraim Craig and Udell/Schmidt. All of these guys can flat out catch the ball and run.
Defensively, Mac is solid. They are small but very quick and they all hit like trucks. Every week they are causing 4-6 fumbles because they are attacking the ball as a team.
I will say that Mac has been the best team that I have seen and this includes Marshall(I know that I've not seen Judson, SV, Roosevelt or Clemens). I will even go as far as saying I would take Boerne over Madison or Marshall.
I know there will still be non believers in Mac until they win in district so that's what they'll have to do. I agree with you on the fact that the 3rd spot could be any of 3 or 4 teams.
Finally, yes I'm very excited about Mac's opportunities this year. I've seen the bad times and the change that this coaching staff and players have made. It's made it fun again. I look forward to their continued run.

Gridiron Gopher I do not know what you affiliation with Mac is, but please understand I would love to see Mac competitive in 26-5A. It will only make the district better. I have known and respect Coach Fuschak for years. I played for Coach Honeycutt. I worked with Coach Marks and Bode on other staffs. All these guys are good coaches as well as excellent men. I am basing what I am saying on what I have seen in the one game I saw this year. And their track record since Reagan opened up and took part of their neighborhoods. Coach Fuschak definitely has his work cut out for him to make that school competitive year end and year out, and they might be better this year since Reagan opened, but I do not think they are at the point to compete for a play-off spot in 26-5A. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think so. If I am, I will apologize on this site.

I can respect that. I know everyone has their opinions and that's why I try to give as much information as I can on Mac. I agree with you 100% on Reagan taking good athletes from Mac when they opened up but the new neighborhoods (Gold Canyon, Canyon View and some of the Redlands) are now sending kids back into Mac. Those kids are now 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. This is why the talent level is getting better there. This same kids where on winning Jr high programs and winning Freshman and JV programs. Now they are getting their chance to show what they can do at the varsity level.
I also have a lot of respect for the Coaches at Mac. Fuschak and his coaches work very hard with the kids and even though things have not been the best since 2000, their teams still play hard. Now you add in the new coaches (Kloza OC 2yrs, Burkholder 2yrs, Starnes 2yrs, Rudnick 2yrs) and you can see a change of attitude that has come to the school. Sometimes change is needed and bringing in a few new ideas to go with a solid core can raise the level of perfromance. That happens in everyday buisness.
If you get a chance, try and go see another game. I promise you they are much better then the Clark game.
Agian, I can respect your thoughts. I'm just trying to give you as much info as I can on Mac and other schools that I have watched.

First off, when Reagan was built, it bled from Churchill. Churchill was the dominant school, not Mac. And Churchill had a lot of talent then and still does. And my sister was an athlete at Mac so I wouldn't be voluntarily speaking bad about my sister unless it wasn't true. Mac had good athletes, but not as many as Churchill.
And those neighborhoods that are going back to Mac....those are kids that tried to get into Reagan but are being turned back to Mac.

Redskins, you don't have a clue about the kids that live in Canyon View. I've lived here since they opened the neighborhood and none of the kids tried to go to Reagan. We as parents all knew that after the first year of the neighborhood opening up that the boundaries had been changed and our kids (all around 7-8 years old at that time) would be going to Mac. At those ages the kids didn't have a clue about what school they were going to. As they got older, then maybe they thought about Reagan. Heck I even wondered what would be better for my kids but unless you wanted to move or had other siblings and could grandfather in.....you were going to Mac.
I don't mind you giving your opinion but please get your facts right. They were not turned away from Reagan.

I know these are not the areas you listed but they are nice to look at:
************************************************** ******
Temporary boundary changes for Reagan High School
Due to enrollment growth at Reagan High School and capacity limitations at the campus, the North East ISD Board of Trustees voted on April 11, 2005 to temporarily rezone three newly developing neighborhoods to MacArthur High School. These three neighborhoods are:
1) Bulverde Village, located east of Bulverde Road and north of Evans Road
2) PGA Village, located east of Bulverde Road and north of Evans Road
3) Encino Ridge, located just east of the intersection of US 281 and Stone Oak Parkway
No current Reagan students will be affected by these temporary boundary changes. The neighborhoods listed above do not have any enrolled students residing in them, and no home purchasers have applied for their children to attend Reagan in advance of their residency in these neighborhoods.
Future newly developing areas in the Reagan attendance area east of US 281 may be subject to similar temporary rezoning. These temporary boundary changes are expected to remain in place until a new high school is completed in 2008.
***********************************************
There was even a few stories on the news ( may dig those up later if possible) that had parents angry that their kids were going back to Mac instead of Reagan....

I love it when someone from a school that has a football team that has never made the playoffs runs his mouth. MacArthur has a much greater history in football than Reagan. Even since Reagan has opened they are not as good as they were before, but Mac has come much closer to the play-offs than Reagan has.

Reagan beats Mac 22-20. So much for Mac's undefeated season and possibly playoff hopes. District 26 5A got off to a great start. Another usual district game in 26. With Mac losing to Reagan, it has an uphill battle to make playoffs. Reagan's Jones ran wherever and whenver he wanted to on the Mac defense. Reagan defense stepped up big time in the 2nd half. If they can't stop the run it will be a long district season for Mac.

Ive got some thoughts about the game, but need to change the subject. I'm not sure the board can handle another mad_fan. :D Look Lonny the population of my bandwagon just DOUBLED. :D :D
Back to the game: Toss up is the way I see it. Will Tony Green have one of those 38 yard San Marcos games or a 200+ O'Connor game?

There game was right on par with what I expected. When to bad teams play they sometimes are so bad that they make each other look decent.

I wouldn't discount both teams so much. They are not the best, granted, but they are not horrible.
