I grew up in Waco being a big Baylor fan and still follow them but I just can't understand why they stay in the Big 12. If they would move to Conference USA or similar I think they would be much more competitive. Right now they are fighting just to stay out of the cellar and not having much luck. I understand the money issue but damn. Winning the occasional upset just doesn't help them any. Get Arkansas back and get Baylor to go to a conference where they can compete and they will be back in bowl games. JMO

Baylor competes well in other sports besides football. Their biggest problem is they play in the Big 12 South, which is like the penthouse compared to the North. That's not just football, either. The South has a good advantage in sports over the North.

Do you think Arkansas would willingly 'secede' from the SEC, and join the Big XII, especially, as Lonny pointed out, to join the already stacked south division. Possible schools that could replace Baylor would be TCU, Houston, UTEP, maybe UNT, but they would be no more competative than Baylor currently is.

Baylor ain't leaving the Big XII unless the other eleven join hands to kick them out for being noncompetitive.
Baylor gets too much money out of being in a BCS conference. I am an SMU grad and believe me, being a part of C-USA means we might have a chance to compete for our conference title someday, but the money isn't but a fraction of what Baylor gets from being in a better league.
Same reason you'll never see Vanderbilt voluntarily leave the SEC despite getting their arse kicked every year.

1. we know.....its hard to throw out baylor, and still justify iowa state.
2. SMU is FFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAR away from a C-USA champoinship, but they have a better chance then baylor
3.vanderbilt has had a slight, slight incline in sucess in the sec. i heard they might make a bowl soon.
