I think Trinity, Judson, Westfield, and a couple of other dallas and houston area teams have a chance........I believe its wide open

It also depends if Katy and SLC go to div1 because then you definitely have to think of them. Both have a real possibility of going to div1 especially Katy!! If both Katy and SLC go to division 1 this year that would definitely give div1 a much deeper and better bracket. The exact opposite of last year when div2 was much stronger overall.

My front runner prediction for DI right now is the winner of the Westfield / Northshore game. Assuming both make it to that game of course.

Euless Trinity are also looking good having well beaten the current D1 5A champs, Tyler Lee last Friday.

Westlake could make some noise in the D-1 bracket should Bowie not make it in District 16-5A, which is a distinct possibility.

Hey if Huntsville and Conroe Oak Ridge make it to the playoffs in 145a Lufkin will go div1!! Longview could go to div1 if JT and Mesquite Horn make it. Ok the sky would fall before those 2 scenarios happened but wouldn't be great if it happened?? Katy, SLC, Lufkin, and Longview all in div1 with Judson, Trinity, Westfield, and Northshore  We would definitely have a real champ in 5a with no questions asked if that happened.

I'm pretty sure SLC will not go DI. But from what I've seen so far Trinity looks really good. I would give them the edge at this point. Definitely would like to see them ans Westfield square off.

Pure insanity would ensue. But it would be great football, and that's what counts.
With the way the Alief ISD schools here in 19-5A have fallen off (Elsik, Hastings and Alief Taylor), it's not that hard to envision Katy going Div 1. Fallen off being a relative term, of course. If I can sit here and not be sure that one Alief team will make the playoffs (and I'm not convinced any of them will, as of yet), then I consider that falling off.
And I'm not sure about how the poulation of schools looks up in the DFW, but I don't really see SLC going Div 1. Unless they are in a district of notoriously small schools (which they may be, I have no idea about the size of those schools), it would seem that a team only a few years removed from 4A would have no chance of going Div. 1.

Denton Ryan and Grapevine would have to make the playoffs if SLC were to go and i hear that is a slight possibility but not likely. God it would be great if there was no such thing as div1 and div2 wouldn't?? I miss it!!

Why did they divide them into two divisions?

Why did they divide them into two divisions?
Because the Northeast Independent School District didn't think they had a chance to compete with Judson as they kept getting bigger. It got them 1 title and another title game, but it got Judson 4 titles and 7 title games! :D

How 'bout a Trinity/Judson rematch. I don't think Trinity will be sneeking in the backdoor for this one though.

If Katy goes thru those teams (especially with the speed and power of NS and WF) and wins a championship - then I will truly believe they are God's team.

well i think the title is wide open.i could name at least four teams that have that talent to do it but i think it is gonna boil down to which team wants it more.

North Shore has to play Westfield in Round 2. You'll get the winner in Round 3. Round 1 and 2 will be cakewalks for Katy, but then it gets tough.

Even if Katy stays in Div. II, Div. I is not going to be an easy road for anyone.

Both DI and DII are going to be very tough this year. Lots of times this is not the case, but there is no way around it this time. This is a good thing however, we will get to see very good games both weeks!
