I do not know anything about the Trojans except that they seem to have what it takes to win state hands down. Looking at the roster everyone is big, but I had a question about this guy. Does anyone know if he is a starter, and if he is any good?

#76 Moni Folau, OL, 5'9", 372,

This dude is only 3" shorter than me, but is 190lbs heavier than I am.

I heard these Tonga (or whatever they are) guys were large, but my god. Please does anyone know of any film online of this team?

Yeah he's good. He can knock your head off but he's also very quick for his size.

Zippy,

One place to find them online is at http://www.insidehighschoolfootball.com
Click on the highlights tab and you'll see footage of them against DeSoto and Midland Lee. Yes the kid you are referring to is a starter (left guard) i believe. The tongan kids are the biggest boned people in the world. In their native land rugby is the most popular sport and they get together on Sundays, men and kids and they get after it...no pads, it's truly a sight to behold. Football is actually a finesse sport compared to the game of rugby. They are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet but at the same time they'll tear your head off. When I was in high school I didn't dare step foot in the weight room, they were to intimidating, i mean if you weighed 160 pounds like i did they would laugh you right out the door.Their philosophy is "If it ain't rough it ain't right". I have always been glad they're on our side. To put it in a more familiar perspective, they hail from the same part of the world as Junior Seau and most of them play with the same reckless abandon that he did.

first of all - junior seau is samoan not tongan. Second of all they dont come from California - they hail from Samoa or Tonga -Polynesians and most of them are big and most of them are athletic - it is almost surreal the athleticism they have for being so big.

that is the other thing about polynesians -- all of those cats are related. it is funny how they are all related some how some way - my cousin.....my uncle.... kind of wierd. And even funnier is the ones who speak perfect English and then they get around some other polynesians and they start speaking like they just walked off the boat from Tonga or Samoa.

That is why you never get in a fight with a tongan, all their brothers(basically means the whole tongan population in Hurst-Euless-Bedford) will come to their aid and back up each other.

Aint that the truth - you might have your supposed best friend polynesian -- and you guys go to the movies and some other polynesian dude starts a fight with you - well your best friend is likely to jump in agains you too.

Wow how could that be...???

Maybe it is because they are all family and they want to go to Trinity.
They could probably use a Trinity or a Bell Adress.

Hey thanks for the info everyone. The Rangers get little attention every year. Nothing new. They are doing ok, won all their games, and thats all you can ask. As for the Trojans, I just dont see anyone beating them anytime soon. And I have a feeling they are about to get a lot of attention. I am just glad they are going D1, or at least I hope that is still the case. Thanks again for the info.

For those of you wondering why euless has such a heavy tongan population, it is due to the location of euless being so close to dfw airport. Tongans started migrating here in about 85 and found it to be a nice little community to settle into. We are the most heavily tongan populated city in the united states(it was even a jepordy question :) ).

Most members of the Tongan community live in southern Euless which lies in the Trinity attendance zone. There are a few of them however that do live in the Bell zone. Trinty is fed by Euless and Harwood JHs. Bell is fed by Hurst and Bedford JHs. Both high schools share the students from Central JH or at least that's the way it used to work.

Quite a stirring debate here - much akin to Dodge's height. Here's a highly sought after source "JP" from urban dictionary.com:

Polynesians from the island of Tonga. Most are either Catholic or Mormon. They are some of the largest people ever. Bob Marley is like a god to them. The most heavily Tongan populated city in the United States is Euless, Texas. Most of them smoke weed which is what prevents a lot of them from making it big in the NFL. In about 6 years, everybody in America will know what a tongan is based on Ofa Moheatau. He'll be bussin heads in the NFL. They usually have a hate for Samoans. Samoans also have a hate for Tongans. Usually in any samoan on tongan fight, it is the tongan that wins. All Tongans are some how related. The entire race.Tongans are huge!

Source: JP, Jun 17, 2004Most Tongan's don't smoke weed. This quote is confusing "weed" with the root Kava. Kava is deeply entrenched in the Tongan culture. Kava is a root that is made into a drink. It is a mild drug.

Anyone who follows Rugby can tell you that serveral teams have a "War Dance" that is preformed before the matches. It is very intimidating and very, very intertaining. Several teams such as the "All Blacks" (actual name of a rugby team from New Zeland, in fact you can buy All Black team appears on the internet) have a very elaborate chant that really gets the crowds going.

Many African national teams such as the Zulu's have a chant and dance that to outsiders is quite the spectical. In fact there are CD's that have all the War Dances and songs on them so you can become more aware of what the significates of the songs or dance is. A lot of times the Dance is a form of warm up much like the Sumo Wrestlers do.

I had to laugh when I read your posts about "the dance."

What makes it even more intimitating is that the Trinity crowd goes silent, waiting in anticipation, then yelling our heads off. They do it at the beginning and end of each game. The majority of the Trinity crowd hangs around after the game just to see the dance again.
