why dragons?

i understand that a dragon is a mythical beast ladeedadeeda, but why as a mascot? I can see most mascots being a choice, specially if they tie in to the town, but

round rock, southlake, driscoll ect......i jus wanna know why it was picked

My alma mater-Abernathy Antelopes( and Post and Whiteface) are all on the South Plains where the Antelope play...:D note- on our bell that they rang after a TD or victory, it said "Home of the Thundering Antelopes." that always struck me as kind of funny. An Antelope may be fast and elusive, but not thundering like a buffalo or bull.

Anything is better than the teams here in Georgia, Everyteam is either the Bulldogs, or the War Eagles. (UGA, and Georgia Southern). Throw in a few Blue Devils also.

Needville Bluejays? There's lot's of bluejays in the area and they are MEAN birds. Just ask my cats.

There are absolutely NO TIGERS in Katy but it makes for cool mascot pictures and posters. Katy's mascot should have been some bird of prey. There are a lot of eagles, hawks and owls in the area. What critters are in the SLC area? If you go 'fantasy' why not the SLC Warlocks? But Dragons are fine. The way the SLC team is playing you could call them the Pink Periwinkles and they would still be as good.

We have two new High Schools in KISD and not one went for Bulldogs or Pit Bulls or Eagles or Owls. Nope. They go for Mavericks and Spartans. Heck, there already is the Stratford Spartans 5 miles down I-10.

JRock is right... a looong time ago (i think it was the 1910's), NB High wanted a mascot and got it from the city seal. But its too late to change it now.. and no one wants to anyways. The school color is blue, black and white. Regular blue, not sky blue (light blue).
