Coming to the end of May and the Sox are on another win streak. This one at 5 after sweeping the Rangers over the weekend and taking the first 2 against the Tribe at Fenway. Beckett had a very good outing tonight making his first start since May 13th. He went 7 inning allowing two runs.
The Sox now improve to 36-15 with Toronto and Baltimore tied for 2nd at 24-27 and new york tied for last place with Tampa Bay at 21-29 a whopping 14.5 games out :D
That June prediction of mine is sure looking good aint it? ;)

It was that sweep of the Yankees in Boston at the outset for the first time in 17 years and the fact that the sox are 17 world championships behind the Yankees that convinced me that this was indeed Boston's year. So if the Yanks cannot win it all this year (and that looks very decidedly true), I will simply have to pull for the Red Sox (except when they play New York) to win it all. Just to support farmer.

I think the season is over for the Yanks. If they want to get back into the hunt, they need to start winning games now. I think its a little too late for them to catch the Red Sox, they are the runnaway winners of the AL East division. Having Clemens will somewhat help them but the injuries have come back to hurt the Yankees and some of their players have been inconsistent like Rivera for example. The only player that is holding this team up is A-Rod JMO.

So....in view of the Yankees' "difficulties" when will Mattingly take over? I know it is not all Joe's fault, but.....it's time for a change George!

Yeah I believe that Joe should be on a short leash not Cashman. I wouldn't be surprised if Georgie cleaned house and got rid of both of them.

The Wild cards will come out the Central you'd think - maybe the west. The East is pretty weak, but I still think the Yanks get on a run.

The only thing preventing the Yankees from being any good is 'Boy' George Steinbrenner. If only he'd give Cashman the green light on dealing some of these over paid oldies that Georgie wanted then they could get themselves back into contention maybe this year, but definatley next year.
Oh, and how sweet it was watching the Mets take 2 of 3 from the Skankees in Shea a few weeks ago. Ahhh, the tides are turning in NY.

Sure you do. I believe it was a comment of something like put down the booze farmer or somewhere around there. But like I said I couldn't have made that prediction or the one where Billy Clyde Gillespie would go to Kentucky since I have no "stones". ;)

I wasn't directing that at you man. It was to Kermit who has this thing about me not making predictions. When in fact I do. I know you didnt see my original statement about BCG. Sorry it came off as an attack towards you. My mistake.

The Yankees are doing so poorly, I was able to get $5 tickets to the August 2nd game!! They'll be 30 out by then and we can move down to the good seats for a better look at that hottie Jeter! I wonder if the Fat Wonder will be on the mound - I sure hope so - I have some choice words for his slimy butt. Right after the game we are going upstate to visit family for a couple of days and then to Manhattan for 3 days so it's all good!

I'm sure by August Roger will have already pulled his hamstring or something.
I am loving this right now but man if there is a franchise in baseball that can blow this thing it is the Boston Red Sox

Tribe Win 2night! w00t
The Tribe played real good ball tonight. Paul Byrd pitched outstanding the offense for Cleveland was able to knock around Matzusaka. However I will galdy take 2 outta 3 in any series for the rest of the year.
Cleveland's got a great young team and one I predicted them to win the Central this year

Moose, Wang and Pettitte going for the Skanks.
Beckett, Wake and Tavarez most likely going for the BoSox.

Thank God I wasn't born in 78 but my God I feel like I was around with all I've heard and seen about that horrible season.
History doesnt repeat itself just the mistakes. I hope that Boston doesnt repeat the same mistakes from 29 years ago.

My husband is a die-hard Sox fan. He is a Vermont-born and educated true blue, actual, bonafide Yankee (that's an accident of birth, you know). I told him about your post (regarding the BoSox skill at blowing good seasons) and he laughed out loud. Thanks for providing some levity to a hardworking, type-A Army guy today. It was priceless.
btw, I saw the 78 season as an adult. It was good for us Yankee fans, but not pretty for you guys.
