View Full Version : Ringo wants out of PESH

Johnny Ringo, Plano East HC, looks like the frontrunner for the Coppell HC job. After applying for the Carroll job, Ringo is now chasing the Coppell gig. He still lives in
Coopell so I guess he is tired of the commute.

if he takes it, the pesh job becomes pretty plum. would joflo get back in the hunt? had pesh had a decent principal several years ago, he'd be there now. pesh with joflo jumps into my top 5.

I'm wondering how the PESH fans feel about Ringo? How is he perceived there and how do they feel about their HC applying for multiple other positions in the area?
What were the particulars with JoFlo when the PESH opening didn't work out? Do you think he would leave Denton Ryan for PESH when he didn't even apply at Carroll? Was the decision not to apply because he knew Wasson was a done deal? I know that's alot of questions but this is an interesting development and if we could post the recent history, for those of us that don't know, it would be appreciated.

ringo wants out because he realizes that he cant coach and his only success last year was because of one of the best senior classes to ever come through east. with any real head coach pesh advances to play carroll in the semifinals.(sorry allen but we lost by 2 points at yalls place without our starting qb after a dumb move by ringo instead of kicking a field goal to go for it on forth down.) he realizes he has no chacne at repeating that next year and is looking for a new start. ringo is a snake and not a wise hire for anyone. his own coaches dislike him and it is constantly obvious. pesh always has the talent and if what you say is true about joflo then watch out.

jo-flo accepted the job on a handshake after the walk-thru and the ad interview. all that was left was the interview with the principal and school board approval. he went into the p's office and shortly thereafter, rescinded his acceptance. the woman was so unfriendly and crazy, he knew he couldn't work for her. ringo wasn't the second pick either as she ran off several good candidates.

No problem PESHpanther, I appreciate your confidence. Regardless of what happens with your QB this year you guys have to promise, no excuses if you lose and we will give you guys all the credit if you win.
I really wanted you guys to get past Westfield in the PO so you could have a rematch. If things work out this year we will get to play two games.
If Ringo wants out so bad, what is to stop PESH from going on a recruiting puush for a new coach? Are the schools hands tied because of a contract?
Florence would be a very big deal for your program!! Look out, 9-5A.
Good luck. Uncertainty sucks.

Is jo-flo making a habit out of this? Did he not accept the Garland HS job only later to rescind his acceptance? Any owl fans out there remember this?

If PESH would be on board with going back to the triple, Jim Ledford would be a great fit for them. He constantly gets more out of the athletes at Berkner than anyone ever has. I couldn't imagine him at PESH with all of that speed.

Yep - homer had already given joey the keys to the field house. He went back to Denton to tell his coaches and team that he was leaving...
then he changed his mind.
It worked out, though. Jeff Jordon has done a pretty good job...

Seems like there was also an issue revolving around Coach Florence and his DR assistants. My understanding was that he declined the job after being told he could not bring the DR staff with him.

you have my word bigdaddy :)
the reason that ringo can walk all over PESH and do what he wants is because our principle knows nothing about athletics and cares about the same. while she is a very nice lady she doesnt know jack and doesnt concern herself with it. the old principle was a royal pain. the superitendent needs to get ringo's a** out before he ruins another good class of young men. pesh was in the same boat plano was in 2 years ago. all the talent you can ask for... but no1 to guide it but the players themselves.
p.s plano you cannot have joflo we got dibbs:D

Let me know if I am out of line here, but isn't this where the movers and shakers (Notable alums, Football Alums, Etc...) come in? I would think that there are enough influential folks out there by now that do care about what happens with the PESH Football Program to get something positive done.
ISD Superintendants hate pissed off Alums and community members/leaders.
I'm pullin for you guys.
Oh yeah, Plano Too...:D

I don’t want to criticize a coach about his ability on this board. But I will criticize a coach for applying for jobs to make a lateral move. Maybe he is being told from within to find something else. Or maybe he is doing it on his own (I think the latter). It looks bad and it seems to me he does not want to be here.

i hope somoene does step up. im tired of hearing people say "wow 5500 kids wtf is wrong with east" its frustrating. we need a coach that has a history of running a successful program. not some college recruiter that is more of a politician than a down to earth coach.

Paul,
I can't agree with you more. Ok, I can see the "I'll apply for my dream job" once, but the second time around, it's time to cut Ringo loose so he can job hunt full time. East is a great place, in a great district with caring and supportive fans and students, not to mention the talent. I don't know what a coach could want more than that.
BDD- PESH lost to Spring Westfield last year that prevented PESH-Allen II. Rico opened up a 3 TD lead that PESH couldn't hold after he broke his collar bone, which happened near the end of Q2, for the second time last season.

That's really the million dollar question. What is his agenda? From the outside looking in I would think PESH has everything a coach could want or need to build a highly successful program. I can't think of what's lacking or perceived to be lacking by Ringo.

I cannot say what the other programs would offer him. It seems to me that Ringo want's to get into the college ranks and wants the fastest track in getting there. But I don't understand how another program would help him achieve that any sooner.

The fastest track to a college position would be for him to dig in a build a power where he's at. If I'm interviewing him for a spot on my staff I'd be looking at what he did with what he had. Did he maximize the potential and leave no stone unturned to cultivate a winner? Did he develop his kids to ensure that they reached the level of performance they had in them? If that is his agenda he'll be relying on networking over merit/substance, at this point.

That is what Dodge did to get the UNT job. However you look at former Allen coach and (current poster child of what all is bad in college coaching) Todd Graham. That guy was a very average coach at Allen and was not well liked got a couple of his players to go to West Virginia and his ties to Recruiting and got a special teams gig at the job. Got the Rice Job then promptly left after one year for Tulsa. This guy relied on networking and maniupulaton over any substance or character. Sad statement.
For very Dodge their are way to many Grahams in the world.

The only thing that makes sense is that he is frustrated by a lack of support from the Administration. The situation with Jo Flo and how they described the Principle it seems that if he was not allowed to control or bring in "his coaches" I can see where a head coach could get frustrated real fast.
There are just some things we just may never know. I don't hear as much talk on the boards about booster involvement from many other programs like I do Southlake. What role do you think that could play in all this mess?
