I think we're definitly in some down years. This yrs. team will be a surprise. I don't expect them to be great just good. We lost most of our D last yr. (I think) so 07 will definitly be an interesting season. If we go 10 -0 I will be... I don't want to say surprised but if we don't I won't be.

21 is the lowest we've ever ranked them in the pre-season. North Shore has been eliminated in the second round every year since winning it in 2003, and we think that is underachieving by their standards. Last year, they started as expected and were dominant but really fell off after that.

Expect them to go at least 9-1 in the regular season, but we will be waiting to see what North Shore does in the playoffs when they are playing teams good enough to counter some of their talent.

Four out of the last 5 years they've gone undefeated in the regular season only to lose in the second round. Yes, they have lost to really good teams, but if you're going to be a perennial Top 10 team, you should win more than 1 out of 5 in the second round.

North Shore is lucky to be in the top 25 at all in my opinion. If you look at what they did last year combined with what all players they lost. Number 21 is about the best for which they could hope.

They have such a HUGE amount of athletes in that school. They should honestly never be below 10 in the state with the type of athletes they run through there year after year. If you saw Cunningham junior high 7th grade A circa 2002, you would laugh at me if I said there was any way that Baytown Lee could even be in the game with North Shore last year in the playoffs. Cunningham just DESTROYED Baytown junior back then. It wasn't even funny. Think about a Westfield playing against Houston Sam Houston and then make Westfield a little better and Sam Houston a little worse. Then, you might come close to the discrepancy in athleticism between Cunningham Junior High and anyone else they play.

Well hopefully that's foreshadowing of the NS Football program in a few yrs!

It's always like that though. I just used 2002 as an example. My point was that North Shore has talent out the wazzoo over there every year. They just don't generally play to the level one would expect knowing the type of athletes they have all up and down their roster.

Thats the case for alot of the North and East side teams. Even the case for us folks down on the island. Ball has talent out the wazzo and we cant seem to get our act together.

Here are a list of teams that Underachieve for the talent they have

1. BALL
2. North shore-Though they are impressive during the regular season, Westfield has been their Thorn in their side.
3. Nimitz
4. Klein Forest
5. Aldine
6. Ike- This as of recently
7. humble
8. The woodlands.
9. Smiley
10. Forest brook.

(Wheat. High and Yates as well, But facilities play into that)

Yes. Those teams all underachieve. I think the Aldine teams have lost some of their athletes recently. Eisenhower is now getting back to their old form. Ball High just seems so ragtag to me. North Shore has state of the art facilities. They have consistency in their program. They have good feeder schools. They have all of the makings to be a powerhouse, but they just always fall short except for that one year.

Ball reminds me of the Wildcats movie. They seem like they just showed up in a couple of pickup trucks for the game. They might draw up a few plays in the dirt back there. I don't have any sense of consistency in the Ball High program. Guys probably drop out or fail or whatever and they probably have a lot of in-fighting going on.

You are correct sir. They Disappoint me year in and year out. Great Talent, not so great Program.

Nimitz is still stacked but losing kids to humble and westfield faster then your Grandma can make a fresh glass of lemonade.

Aldine is another story. They still have talent but it is also fleeing to spring isd

Ike, they got it. But they have about a year to go. They will be greatly improved next year. I watched the Lufkin vs Ike game. They didn't look like a 3-7 team to me. ( i was pulling for Lufkin, i had to drive the hour to see that dez bryant boy. )

I know our boys wanted to play u guys so bad this yr. I think when ur a top program like SLC a lot of skools want a piece of u! Thanks and good luck to u guys too!

The sad thing about the team this yr. is they knew they could've done better and I alwayz hear the senior players saying those last few games shouldn't have been as close as they were. I dunno what we gotta do to get them to play all their games like they did in the 4th quarter against Lee. If anyone saw they game, they really turned it up a notch.

I'm not trying to kick anyone. I am envious of North Shore in a way. They have 5 times the athletes that Baytown Lee does in your normal year. It just doesn't add up to me.

I wasn't taking a shot at Cunningham. I was giving them their respect. They are a powerhouse. I doubt any junior high in the state could stay on the field with them in Cunningham's average year.

Right now it would not be much of a game. NS is not on level with any of the top 10. This year is so questionable. TWHS, Deer Park, IKe and Pas Mem all have legitimate shots at beating them. One thing I believe hurt NS last year is all the hype. I truly believe they read too much about themselves and their rankings and partly expected to win on reputation alone. I prefer them to be ranked low and work their way up.

I also heard a disturbing rumor that Aymond may retire after this year. No validation, just from some people at the school.

i was just being a bit sarcastic..... mainly because i agree with you.... NS has athletes and should have more to show and should be showing more than what they have in the past.......

and as far as cunningham..yes..they are a football power.... i watch them when i can ... and some years they look like a HS jv or sophmore team.... but for some reason....that talent doesnt transition into HS that well for whatever reason.....

“North Shore has been eliminated in the second round every year since winning it in 2003, and we think that is underachieving by their standards. Last year, they started as expected and were dominant but really fell off after that.”

THEIR expectations? You mean YOUR expectations! Real fans of North Shore were never fooled by the early scores. I looked these stats up on the Houston Chronicle website: They blew out Aldine to open the year – wasn’t even close. They beat Ike 24-0 but it was 10-0 at the half with the lone touchdown being scored on a fumble recovery by the defense. They beat The Woodlands 31-0 but it was 10-0 at the half with the lone touchdown was on an interception by the defense. They beat Deer Park 21-3 but it was 7-3 at the half. Then they blew out a LaPorte team that struggled defensively. The offense lacked overall speed and experience up front. They were beating teams in the second half because they were in better condition and just wore teams down. They then played 3 Pasadena schools that didn’t have a chance. When they met up with Pasadena Memorial, it was 3-3 at the half. By this time teams were in comparable condition and North Shore ended up pulling out a 21-3 win. Lee was a war. Mohammad was the fastest kid on the field followed only by Jarvis Moore and that #24. All three of them had more speed than ANYONE on the North Shore team (check the track times). Lee was up 10-3 at the half and almost landed the knock out blow when they returned the fumble for a touchdown when North Shore was wearing down the Lee defense and chewing up clock. Pearland gained 95 of their 295 yards on a freak QB sneak to end the half where the official blew the call (Proctor clearly steps out of bounds but the official is cut off by the Pearland sideline who were understandably excited). Pearland is led by two big time Division I (Oklahoma and Texas) prospects who, again, were much faster than anyone North Shore put on the field.

The 2004 North Shore team was riding the wave of the 2003 state championship and frankly, they were not that good. Westfield (who ended up playing for the state championship) exposed the smoke and mirrors.

The 2005 North Shore team was awesome! They had a legitimate shot to win it all that year and probably would have been a better match-up against Euless-Trinity than Converse Judson. Judson would not have been there if the Westfield QB (Pierre Beasley) doesn’t get hurt in the first quarter of the semi-finals. NS had Westfield down 14-9 going into the 4th quarter but couldn’t hang on against a very deep and very talented Westfield team.

The 2006 North Shore team had an unbelievable defense but was plagued by inconsistency on Offense and a lack of overall team speed. With a break here and there against Pearland (like a whistle when Proctor steps out of bounds) they could have been playing for a state championship.

The thought that North Shore has Division I athletes at every position is a myth that went away after the 1996 season! Their state championship team of 2003 only signed 2 D-I players (would have been 3 if the tailback had qualified). Their “dominate” team of 2006 that was full of D-I athletes at every position was exposed by the college coaches who saw them for what they were – a tremendous group of high school football players that did not project well to the next level. Too many kids are labeled “D-I” and “unbelievable athletes” simply because they wear the North Shore jersey. Few people, including this website, research the type of athlete North Shore is currently playing with. The community, and the student body, has changed dramatically over the years. A poster on another site opened my eyes to the real demographics of that school on the TEA website.

All of this being said – there are not 20 head coaches at high schools in the state of Texas that want to line up and play North Shore. In all honesty, there are not 20 other high schools in the state of Texas that you would bet your paycheck on to beat North Shore. You can talk about second round exits all you want (to 3 teams that went a combined 38-6 overall) but the bottom line is there are not 20 other programs better than North Shore in the state of Texas, period.

I'm not saying they are they are #1 but one may question your credibility when you state there not in the top 20!

No one ever said North Shore has d! talent all over the place. They have talented athletes throughout their roster though. Just go look at Cunningham one of these days. I have a feeling I know who eastside football is from the other board. Cunningham is LOADED with talented athletes every single year.

I remember when Ced Cormier was a freshman. They came to Lee and absolutely OBLITERATED Lee. It was something to the tune of 42-0 at the half. I think the final was 63-7. Flash forward three years. Ced Cormier is a senior. Lee has them down 7-3 with 2 minutes to go in the game. North Shore didn't move an inch all game long. THeir offense was soooo stale and predictable. Drop Cormier back and let him run around and try to make some yards on a broken play. That was pretty much their gameplan. It works against sorry coached, lesser athlete teams. This stuff unfortunately doesn't work as well against well coached, athletic teams.

North SHore made it to the semi-finals that year, so I won't say they were horrible. They got as far as that talent would take them.

Make no mistake about it. North Shore is one of the most athletic teams in the state every year. I would venture to say they are one of the top 4 or 5 athletic teams every singl;e year. Now, can they translate that athleticism into football production. That's where the question lies.

Yea and if Saenz does not intercept the pass in the zone and if fozzy does not run for a touchdown and if Pearland defense would not have played a solid game come on give me a break.

Not that it matters now but this is the first I've heard about the out of bounds. Even if he did step out, Shore still did not do what it took to win that one. They had Pland down and should have driven the nails in the coffin.
Like Bruce Lee said, "Never take your eyes off your opponent."

I agree the interception, the 95 yrd. TD, and anyother big play they had should not have been game determining factors. I dunno what happened between the 1st and 2nd quarter, but it seemed like they decided to take an early lunch. The biggest problem w/ the team this yr.is that most of the time if they were down they just exploded in the 4th and that didn't happen w/ Pland. I hope next yr. they play full throttle the entire game or @ least enough to get the other team down to where they stay down.

I'm surprised this is the first time ur hearing about it. I know the team talked about it the following week and they covered it in the skool paper. Someone brought it up in a thread and had pics and sure enough he did step out. But what's done is done we have 2007 to look forward to and we can only hope the D will be around next season as it has been in the last few!
