Another "THUG PUNK" student assaults a teacher in the classroom that is just trying to do her job. I'm sure when it's all said and done we'll just excuse this punks bad behavior as an accident and really he isnt to blame and there is a totally legit good reason why he did what he did. I mean really when it's all said and done it will end up being the teachers fault probably.

A Worthing High School teacher said Monday she is too scared — and too bruised on the left side of her face — to return to work after a student repeatedly punched her in class last week.
The student was charged with felony assault on a public servant and will not return to the school, said Terry Abbott, spokesman for the Houston Independent School District.
Vanesta Marshall, a home economics teacher at Worthing who is 5 feet 4 inches tall, said she remembers a ninth-grade male student punching her in the face two or three times before she blacked out Friday. The other students in the class counted seven or eight blows, she said.
The student became angry and started spouting profanity after Marshall scolded him for not bringing his notebook to class, she said. Marshall then escorted the student to school security, and when he returned, she asked him if he had paperwork allowing him to return.
He got angry again, she said, and lifted a chair. Then, Marshall said, she was walking to her desk to call security when the first blow fell. The punches kept coming, and several students tried to stop the teen.
"My class, they're the real heroes," Marshall said in a phone interview before her voice began to crack. "If they hadn't did what they did, I probably would still be in the hospital right now."
Marshall said she went to the hospital Friday afternoon and left early Saturday. By Monday, she said, she was starting to be able to open her left eye.
Marshall said she wanted to share her story because she's worried other teachers could face the same situation. She said school officials didn't inform her about the student's discipline history. "We're just regular-ed teachers," she said. "We don't know how to handle violent behavior."
In an independent survey last year, about three-fourths of HISD teachers said they felt safe on the job.
The district, Abbott said, has "zero tolerance" for students who assault teachers.
Marshall said she began working for HISD in 1990 as a secretary. She's hoping counseling will keep her from leaving.
"I went back to school so I could teach," she said. "Now I don't even know if I want to go back to teach."

That's not as bad as that kid that was punching that old man whom happened to be a Vet with people standing around and not coming to his aid. I saw the film of it and it was sickening.

I know you didn't mean it but you sort of conveyed that what happened to this teacher "wasn't so bad." You just meant the beating those punks put on the old man was worse than the teacher getting beat up, right? As in degrees of physical hurt? BOTH are situations in which someone need to end up incarcerated, don't you agree?

Everytime I hear a story like this it makes me want to puke. These little craps, today, are bolder, dumber and therefore more dangerous than ever. But, no one really seems to care, until the "incident" occurs. A teacher can't tell a kid to sit his butt down, without fear of being fired or worse, brought up on charges of "abuse".
How ironic that we're giving the power of "rules and regulation" to teens and criminals. Then again, there are so many useless parents and a gutless law/educational system. Where do we go from here? Surely, not up.

its a horrible situation... im not sure what i would do in that situation or if i was that teacher.. or what kind of restraint it would take not to knock his punk butt out... he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Yeah this kid is a real tough guy beating up on a small/fragile woman. They should put him in room with a "man" that is 3 times bigger then him and let them throw down, so he can see how it feels.

I wanted to get a piece of that guy so bad i about climbed through my tv!!
I couldn't believe it!! They showed it again this morning..
It's a shame though.. the way they have things set up these days, you get in as much trouble coming to someones aid as someone committing the crime.. Makes no sense.
I got sent to the grand jury once for getting a little too physical with a couple of guys that were jacking with an elderly couple. As much bs as the county put me through, i'd still do it all over again.

Man, you got a wonder what the Hell when 3/4 of the HISD teachers say they feel threatened at school and in the class. Talk about having fun on the job.
I'm in a 3rd world country where there is many people here that want to kill us and I probably feel safer here than many of the teachers in HISD.:(

Those of you that remember when I was a pretty regular poster know that I am a teacher and a coach and not a politically correct person. I personally have no problem telling these kids to sit their *** down. I have no problem telling them to shut up. I have no problem doing what is necessary to keep control of my classroom. But the problem is not all teacher are 6'4 and 250 lbs. The kids that do these acts need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, they need to be expelled from school forever. They are a danger to the other kids at school as well as the faculty. Give us back the board and it will change attitudes as well as behaviour. I have already been reprimanded for breaking up fights to roughly. That is crazy, it is part of my job to insure the safety of the students and staff at my school, and if someone if endangering a person on my campus I should have the right to put a stop to the situation and insure the safety of all people involved. The problem is that the liberals are to worried about hurting peoples feelings and not teaching them their is failure in this world, their is a right way to address people and a wrong way. The way my generation was raised (with the paddle, with a winner and a loser in little league, with a parent that was a parent not a friend) did not ruin us, I think we did alright. But until as a society we get passed excepting excuses instead of responsibility we will continue to slide to a MAD MAX type world.

They ought to make it legal to line these punks up one by one and put em in the Octagon and let the UFC fighters have their way with them. I'd pay to see that!

LOL.. That's probably what he should have said.
The old guy was just shocked and surprised that someone would "turn" on him like that. The "turd" (thats what a refer to as scum) had asked the guy for a light..for his cigarette or something...then just started punching the guy.
I think the one thing that prevents people from getting involved these days is they are fearful of someone whipping out a firearm and getting killed.

I guess I worded it wrong. Both instances are bad but when you see a punk repeatedly punching a defenseless old man in the face you want to scream.

yeah.. the whole group should have pounced on the guy.. gave him some justice before they called the police to haul him away..
Kind of makes you wonder if your on your own if something were to ever happen to you or a loved one.
I'm protective by nature so it's kind of an automatic thing to want to jump in when i see abuse like that.

No way Jose!! I love my guitfiddles!!
Now I have some old metal baseball bats from when my son played baseball that would do better. We should have punishment over here like in the Philipines or Indonesia where the authorities will cane a guy like that. A few whacks on the back would be good medicine for some.

I agree 100% and the kid would be told if it ever happens again the same will be done to him. I promise that would be enough deterrent. I am sick of all this politically correct crap and the rules that teachers can not give out punishment to kids that are out of line. When I was growing up and you got out of line and did not heed your warning to stop, the teacher would take you out in the hall and whoop your butt right then and there and then you got the real whoopin when you got home. It happened to me ONLY ONCE!!!! I never got out of line again and didn't even think about it.

Amen bubba. Breaking up fights too roughly? What a bunch of baloney. If a student would hit me 1st over an incident as descirbed above, according to state law, I can protect myself and the others in the immediate area. Anyway, the kid was just a coward and punk. I agree with pack 808 on the kids punishment.

What's really sad is this kid will keep being turned onto society until he finally kills someone...
