LeGerald Betters is our 6ft 5in WR. I hope that this new OC coach can use him for an aerial attack. We got two QB's that are competing for a start. One is 6ft 3in and one is 6ft 5in. Our OLINE will be smaller than the past. Defense will be changing to 4-3-4 from a 4-4-3. Too many teams burned us on the long pass last year.
Congrats to Cove's Buckram.
Lions' Betters off to state on his own in 400 and triple jump

Waco High junior LaJerald Betters is used to running in front of the pack, all alone. But he wouldn't have minded bringing some friends with him on Saturday.
Betters scurried to a convincing victory in the 400-meter dash at the Region II-5A track meet, clinching a second state berth to go along with the triple jump title he won Friday, but despite his best efforts he couldn't pull off a miracle mile relay rally.
"I want to take some of my teammates with me to Austin," said Betters after winning the 400 and roughly 90 minutes prior to the relay. "I'm just going to do my best, give it my all. You can't leave nothing on the track at the regional meet."
And Betters didn't. Waco High's relay squad, which also consisted of Jeron Burks, Terrance Jones and Joshua Swann, entered Saturday's final with the second-best preliminary time at 3:22.51, but that meant little in the final. A sluggish second leg put the Lions in a big hole by the time for the handoff to Betters. The lanky sprinter passed three runners on the final leg to bring his team back to fourth before running out of real estate.
Waco High actually eclipsed its preliminary time, running 3:22.16, but the top three teams – South Garland (3:19.79), Klein Forest (3:20.61) and Dallas Skyline (3:21.6 – all bettered their Friday times by at least two seconds.
On the heels of that relay win, South Garland claimed the boys' team title with 68 points. Copperas Cove finished fourth with 44, while Waco High was sixth at 30.
Despite the relay disappointment, Waco High fans had reason to cheer, thanks to Betters. In the 400, the 2004 state qualifier broke out to a calculated clip through the first half of the race before making his charge on the final turn, passing leader Derron Montgomery of South Garland and pulling away to win in 47.67 seconds.
"I always want to be on the outside of whoever I'm running against by that last turn," said Betters, who finished fourth in the 400 at last year's state meet. "I was able to do that. That first 200 meters, I ran (Montgomery's) race. But the last 200 I ran my own race."
One of the most enthralling come-from-behind efforts of the day came from Harker Heights' anchor runner Danielle Brock in the 4x200 relay. The Lady Knights trailed Dallas Skyline by a good 20 meters when Brock took the stick, but the diminutive sprinter came up big to pass Skyline's Sha'Tara Taylor and win by five meters with a 1:39.77 clocking.
"I always try to eye whoever's ahead and say to myself, ‘Go get 'em,' '' Brock said. The Lady Knights finished third in the team race with 45 points, behind champion Skyline (106) and second-place A&M Consolidated (93).
Copperas Cove's Donald Buckram hardly had time to catch his breath Saturday. Around 10 minutes after Buckram qualified for state in the 100 with a second-place 10.70-second effort, the Bulldawg senior boosted his 4x200 relay team to state as well. Cove sped to a time of 1:27.68, behind only Dallas Carter's 1:27.16.
"I had a quick turnaround at last year's regional meet, too, so it wasn't completely new," Buckram said.
Belton's Grant Hightower won the long jump title with a leap of 24-4 3/4.
Temple's Victoria Smith punched her ticket to Austin in the 100 hurdles, sprinting 14.51 to take second behind Skyline's April Williams (14.0 .
Waco High senior Brandon Fletcher, who entered the regional meet with the state's third-best heave in the discus at 180-5, struggled with foot fouls throughout the afternoon and finished a distant eighth with a toss of 150 feet. Fletcher twice unleashed throws that would have put him in the lead, but stepped out of the circle.
Congrats to Cove's Buckram.
