This run defense is horrible! Florida, Ohio, and now Trinity have given the rest of Lee's opponents a sure way to a victory over the defending 5A champs. Wow, I can't believe they are this bad!
Longview and John Tyler are going to steam role this defense!

there a young team give them time to adjust like any one in sports when your young and fresh it can be the roughest time, but fear once they adjust and are ready they bring it, i say next year there a top 5 team and will hand out tissue paper to any one who beats them this year

You have to keep in mind they have went against 3 very very very good rushing offenses. Most would struggle and i knew Lee would because of their inexperienced young defense that is not very big. Most would struggle stopping those 3 teams rush to tell you the truth.

The defense they had last year was 10 times as good as this one. Ask Westfield or ask Trinity. They were not dominating by any means but they were a bend but do not break type of defense. I saw Lufkin put up 44 on them but you could see the talent was there. They did enough to win the div1 state championship and you cannot have a bad defense and win a championship in my opinion.

They will definately have trouble with Lview then. Our run game is hard to beat.

Like you said...last year they were bend and no break...this year is different...Sweeny did pretty good last year after Westfield lost one of their backs in the first....but it was just a matter of time before the lack of a run defense caught up with them.

Yeah they are in big big trouble when they face Longview. Anytime you are having trouble stopping the run you do not want to play the Lobos that is for sure.

i predict mcgee will have 300 yards against us. he was a hoss last year against our defense which was 10x better, this year he'll probably go 30-40 yards untouched a few times

Yeah -- I don't even know why we're going to play the game. Just give it to Longview and let's don't get anybody hurt!
I hate fairweather fans. Suck it up, people. We lost two games against two good football teams and Owens pulled out our starters to avoid injuries. I look for a really good run in the district and if it doesn't happen, then jump down my throat. Great coaches make great adjustments.

Outlaw would have made the adjustment before we were down by more then 20 to Euless like in the State Semi's.
I love to say but JT will beat Lee this year. by a Td 28-21

"Fair-weather", just maybe the truth hurts a little their DAD? Ohio ran the basic high school option offense please.......You learn how to defend it in middleschool! Face the facts, There is no swarming, no gang tackeling, and absolutly no penetration from the 3-4 defense.
I played qb at lee so it's hard to say that I'm "Fair-weather" rather a raider alumni from the Biff Peterson days.
You can't stop the option, you have no chance at stoping the counter plays that you"ll see from Longview! J.T. will run left and right all night long on these kids...........I pick them to finish 3rd behind Longview and J.T.
P.S.....Can't wait to see E.Trinity vs Longview in the REGIONALS.

I agree....I watched Colerain vs Lee (by the way Colerain is not that great.)
....anways, they rushed up and down the field. I thought wow!...until I saw highlights from Lee and Trinity....my jaw dropped.
Trinity will be very tough to stop, but Lee.....is in for a LONGGGG year!!
I say they lose to....Longview, Tyler John Tyler and Mesquite.

If we get up too big you won't see Mcgee after midway through the 3rd, so I doubt he will get 300. We have a sophomore who is backing up Mcgee. This guy looks like he might be just as good. It will be interesting to see how many yards they have combined.

Here's the situation with Lee vs. running offenses is that they run a 3-3-stack defense to account for their lack of depth up front and annual influx of speed. While Lee still has speedy athletes and will always be stellar vs. the pass they need more beef up front and more physical backers to have any success against the run using this scheme.

Lee does not have the athletes to run that defense. When they use to have Warren, Miller, Strpling, Scates they could do that and get away with it. They also had DeHaven at LB to plug the gaps. Now they are undersized and will struggle against John Tyler, and Mesquite fighting for there playoff lives

I love all the coaches on here! Does anyone remember how many total yards Colerain had in the second half?
How many of Nance's yards came in the first half?
I know the answer to both of these questions -- there's a difference in going to the games and reading the paper!(or the internet)
Oh, by the way, my congratulations to ET for another win that doesn't count! I remember one like that last year. Let's brag when they are handing out trophies! Beat us then and you'll get a sincere congratulations from me.

REL made some defensive adjustments in the 2nd half against Colerain. In the 1st half they played 3 DB's about 10 yds off the ball. ( I couldnt understand that at all) against a team that runs 99.9% of the time.
In the 2nd half they brought the Saf. up into the box and they pretty much shut down Colerain. They starting being more agressive and stunting into the backfield. I didnt see that one time in the 1st half.
That defense they ran in the 1st half was very (??????). Just laying back and reading Colerain offense but giving up 5 yds a pop.

Even with the two losses. REL has shown some great things. They have a good shot to make the playoffs and make a strong run.
Losing to Colerain in Ohio ( probably Ohio's #1 team) and losing to Trinity (one of Tx top teams) isnt a bad thing. They see what they have to work on and fix.
REL not that far off..
In 2000 Midland Lee went to West Monroe, La and got spanked like (35-9) at West Monroe.. Then came back to West Tx and got beat by Odessa High who went like (4-6) that year. What did Midland Lee do after that ?? Got their act together and rattled off about 8 straight wins to the State Title.
REL has a chance to do the samething.. they just have to fix a few things.

Sounds like they just beat you, and beat you very easily, non the less on your home field. Euless Trinity has been a better overall program than Tyler Lee has so I would not be saying Trinity has won anotehr game that doesnt count. Sounds like you can't take a beating very well, i have a feeling Trinity will be in the state semis this year, dont know if you can say the same about Tyler Lee.

How do you justify E. Trinity being a better football program than Tyler Lee? If I recall correctly Tyler Lee has been to the state semi's and won a State championship in the last 3 years. If it hadn't of been for a brutal LUFKIN game the week before game 1 last season( losing 5 starters on the defense) Lee more than likely would have won both of the 2004 meetings. 4 of those 5 were lost due to graduation this year.
I think you should do some back tracking of both schools over the last 5 seasons and consider this...........WE were playing Lufkin and Longview twice in one of those seasons....all 3 of which were ranked in the top 10 in the state.
SO,,,,,,,,I ask you? When was the last time any program in the state of TEXAS had 3 teams from their district ranked in the top 10? Try going 2-0 against Lufkin in the same year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah i am going to have to disagree with that one Farmer?? Well it depends on how far you go back?? There is no way Trinity has had a better program in the last 3 years then Lee that is for sure. Only a few have been better and more consistent and Trinity is definitely not one of them. What did Trinity do in 2003 and 2002?? I know last year they lost to Lee in the state semis and i know in 2001 they lost to Lufkin in the state semis. Trinity is a very good program but Lee has been a better one lately. Trinity might change that with a state championship this year.

E. T. should make it to the semi's this year, anything else would be a waste of talent, poor execution, and poor coaching because this team 2005 is really good!" This is the best football team I've seen in 20 years," Mike Owens Tyler Lee, Tyler Morning Telegram............

To justify my comments, I am going back the duration of the program. Trinity has been very consistant for many years, in 1982 they lost 2 games, both to LD Bell one was the last game of the year and the other was in the regional finals at Texas Stadium. That same year I believe they defeated a undfeated Permian team. Since I am at school right now, I dont have the info in front of me so I will go on pure memory. From what I can recall Trinity has numerous district titles, they have made 4 semifinal apperances and a few regional finals. Even in 1992, they advanced to the state finals, probably being the worst team to ever reach a state final, it still goes on record for them appearing in the finals. The following year they finished 13-1 losing to Plano in the state semis by a score of 13-10 or somewhere around that. From 94-98 they made the playoffs as well, how many times escapes me. In 1998 they were 11-0 and had to go to Duncanville to play the Panthers, no coach should flip home and home in the metroplex but Ed Hickmon did and I believe it cost his team a shot at a state title, Duncanville won a hard fought football game. In 99 they were 9-2 losing a heartbreaker to Lewisville in the 1st round of the playoffs, Lewisville scored a rare TD through the air on a reverse pass to Darren Stephens that ended up being the game winner. In 2001 they reached the semis again losing another heartbreaker to eventual state champion Lufkin. In 2003 they lost to Arlington Lamar, a team that was very stout and ended up losing in the semis to The Woodlands. So my argument about Trinity being a better overall program than Tyler Lee is valid, Trinity has done more over time than Tyler Lee has, sure people will say Lee is the better program with them winning a state title last year, but I believe over the duration of each program that Euless Trinity has done more than Tyler Lee has.

I just watched a DVD replay of the 2001 Lufkin vs Trinity Semi-final game. Wow, its almost hard to believe that Trinity blew that game. R. McNeal made a pretty good throw there with about 50 sec. left to win that game.
PS. Being played in a monsoon rain storm didnt help either team that day.

If you all remember lee was small last year...undersized in every game......they lost games last year as well......for you all to lose all hope in lee for losing 2 games ina row is just plain ridiculous....when i remember 2 wks ago everyone was a lee fan......Some of you are taking it as far as they will lose to JT....i really dont see that happening there good but no to that level yet.....HOnestly not to doubt lee myself i dont see them making it to the state finals again...but i do see them being a really tough game for anyone...i know coach owens and his staff and players dont like the taste of a 2 game losing streak...so my predictions for the season they finish district with 1 loss to longview and go to the regional finals and squeak one out and then play USELESS trinity in the semis and for that game we'll see how they progress......But im really dissapointed in everyone especially people from tyler losing hope in lee...

Yeah, I was at the game..it was freezing cold....and rained that whole game......we had umbrellas but still got wet and man it was COLD. We left at halftime to head to Shreveport to gamble because it was 20-0 and didn't think Lufkin would come back.......listened to it on the radio and was pissed hearing them coming back and winning.
I got a tape of it tho and watched it and it's a great game to watch.

I think Tyler Lee has a really good shot of putting together a solid season and making a run in the playoffs. Now, if its a State Championship run I dont know .. but deep run "maybe."
Losing to Colerain ( probably Ohio's #1 team) and losing to Trinity (one of Tx #6 teams) isnt a major black eye. REL has shown a few areas of concern that hopefully they can fix over the next few weeks. (mostly stopping the run) & not making stupid turnovers. Those turnovers killed them in both games they lost.
Second.. I would discount JT just yet either. They look like they have put together a pretty scrappy team and with the caliber of athletes they "always" have you never know. I'm predicting that to be pretty much a toss-up game right now. Its going to come down to who wants it the most on that day.
That 2nd & 3rd playoff spot for district honestly could go to about 3 to 4 teams right now. I'm not going to discount the Mesquite teams or JT.
I'll go ahead and proclaim Longview the front runner for the 1st spot in district.. But they still have to play the games to prove it.

Ya.. watching it on DVD you can see the rain coming down sideways. It looked like one of those typical crappy Texas weather days in December. A nice strong Norther blows in the region and just makes life horrible.
McNeal threw a nice dart over the middle and the kid caught it and just outran everyone into the endzone. The Lufkin sidelines just went "insane." Its like nobody believed what they just saw.
Sad thing is Trinty had the kid covered good. It was just a great pass and the kid took the right angle to run to the endzone.
