I just put my son (the manager) on the bus to the 4A State Track Meet in Austin. My Copperas Cove Bulldawgs are real contenders for the State Title. They qualified in 5 running events (high points) and the Triple Jump with some really great times and jumps. So while you are getting ready for the 5A Meet tomorrow send a little luck their way.
GO DAWGS!!!!! TAKE STATE!!!!!

thanks for the kind thoughts. My youngest and I are leaving now for Austin. This is going to be fun! I have never been to a big track meet like this. I know it will be an experience. Our first event is the triple jump at 4:30. After that I think we don't have anything till the hurdles start about 6:30. Our star hurdler is also our Quarterback Robert Griffin. Go Robert Go, Jump Robert Jump! Our relay teams run later. I should be back with updates by 11:30.

YES!!!!!
I had an incredibly good time. Met a lot of nice people who of course root for their own team, but in the face of so many individual outstanding athletes, have an appreciation for the standouts no matter what team they are from. It was awesome. Can't wait for next year!
2007 4A TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPIONS -- SWEET!

Alright, Waco High takes first in 4x100. All of the runners are RB's, so look out 4-A next year!:p

That hurdler? The one who won the 100 and 300? He's our quarterback. Look out 16-4A. Can't wait for the annual Waco/Cove game. It's gonna be a barnburner!

Who's Johnson? Our QB is Robert Griffin, holder of the new State Record (unless it was beaten Saturday) in the 300 hurdles. .01 off the National Record. He hit two of the hurdles and stumbled. Can you imagine his time if those things had not happened???
As to who will win next year, I am saying right now, Waco will be the favorite, but the "any Friday night" rule will apply in 2008. It's always fun, no matter who wins. :)

Griffin, Johnson, whatever.
You guys come to our house this year, I expect a good game. Waco High returns A LOT of core talent, a lot of D-1 players, and a better defense. Hard to believe about the defense part I know...
