By all accounts, he's a very good guy and a delight to be around. He's just not a very good coach. There are a lot of guys like that in his line of work.

I won't even say he's a good guy. I'll just say he's Larry Brown with a smile.

So, when you met and talked with him, what made you think of him as not a good guy?

I once saw Coach Frantastic at 7 on 7 cruising the scene in his golf cart. He is very good at the presedential wave.

I'm just saying he'll leave you high and dry for an extra buck. If you listen to him talk on TV and radio, he seems to be personable. His track record is one of not being loyal to his current employer. I don't think you can trust him no matter how nice he seems.
Here is my personal rankings of the overall good guy rating of each of the Big 12 South Head Coaches.
1. Guy Morriss, Baylor- Everything I've seen says he's pretty cool. He has a good relationship with his assistants and I like him.
2. Mike Leach, Texas Tech- I love some of the stuff The Pirate says. He's honest to a fault many times. I can't say I completely trust him, though. He's not bad.
3. Mack Brown, Texas- Mack makes me want to puke. I can't stand listening to his crap after games. He might be the nicest and most personable coach of the 6 to your face, but he's middle of the road at best for NCAA coaches with me.
4. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma- Sometimes he's honest, but he blames the team for too many losses and I sure don't trust him either.
5. Dennis Franchione, Texas A&M- Like I said, he's not loyal. I don't trust him no matter how nice he is.
6. Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State- There's just something about Gumby that I don't trust. I just don't like that look in his eyes. I don't have any proof of any funny business, though.
None of these cats even come close to approaching Jim Tressel level for me. Overall, you'll find that I don't have great words to say about NCAA football coaches.

Thats because there is so much going on with the "dark side" of college football...recruiting.
