Gorgeous, farmerfan.

I've done a lot of hiking, camping, skiing, etc. in the Texas mountains and the Moutain West, but not much out east in the Appalachians or Great Smokies. They really are a sight to behold. Quite different, but still beautiful. I won't lie-- I still prefer the starkness and desert austerity of the Big Bend country, but I wouldn't mind getting out east.

You're just like my buddies back home. One of my best friends is coming out to visit us next week. The only time he has been out East is when we took a road trip to D.C and he is really excited about getting out here. We're hoping to do some rafting and fishing and Im anxious to see what he thinks. He loves the West and I love the East. It's just a matter of ones like. Either way you cant really go wrong when you're in the mountains.

My little sis graduated from a school in the Virginia mountains, and I was impressed when I went out to visit. It was gorgeous, and the towns out there were neat. I liked it. I may end up in DC at some point, so I should start thinking of some nearby places to do outdoors stuff.

Virgina is awesome. We loved driving through it on our way to Washington. I took my mom's John Denver CD on that trip and we listened to country roads about 100x.
We went to a bar in DC and got plastered one night and started singing Country Roads and got the rest of the bar to join us. It was one of the more enjoyable nights I've ever had in a bar.
I'm sure you will not have to look too hard or too far when you're in DC to find some outdoor activities to engage in.

That's beautiful country. I was accepted at UNC but couldn't afford to go there for school. Made it a couple of times on road trips back in college. though.

Very good pics, farmer. They turned out great.

And there you have KT2K's birthplace.

Hopefully you can drive a little South of DC and find me. I hope to be in Charlottesville in a few years.

That'd be cool. I hope to go up to A-town in a while, I'll let you know if I do.

Hopefully, for the work I want to go into, I will only be in DC for training and then be sent off to more exciting and exotic parts.

I wouldn't mind living and working in the DC area. The Northern Virginia suburbs (Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, etc.) are absolutely beautiful.

They are beautiful. They're also $$$$$. I have some friends interning in that area and I can't believe what they are having to pay just for summer rent.

Yeah, but you'll be some big wheel in the State Dept. You can handle it. ;)

Too bad I gotta be a little wheel first:mad: They need to just put me in charge of the place.;)

Ah, yes. It can be hard being a little wheel. For some strange reason, most employers don't put you in the high paying, upper echelon jobs straight out of college. Don't ask me why.

Seriously, I love Virginia. I wouldn't mind living anywhere from Blacksburg to Norfolk/Virginia Beach to Charlottesville or anywhere in between. Roanoke is another beautiful town and the further you get from DC, the nicer the cost of living gets.

I'll take The Big Bend too. It's simplicity is magnificent. The stay at the Chisos Mountains Lodge is worth the travel to get there.
