Best place to take a 5 yr old kid is anywhere where dad is. That's the only thing they are going to remember anyway. :D

Take him to a construction site where there's a giant mountain of sand or pebbles... Me and my boys had more fun playing in that when they were that age than anything. Also, the end of a runway watching the jumbos come in is pretty cool too, especially if you take a laser pointer. :)

We still do that to this day out at Hobby Airport.

When I was a kid it was Six Flags Over Texas where someone vomited on my foot.

When my boy was that age, a well timed incoming Thunder Storm made for some cool entertainment. Something my Father and I would do. My son and I still do that.

Everybody knows that this time of year, Dallas has no weather!!

How about the Speed zone, right by the old Resturant Row (Walnut Hill, is it)? Fun for all ages.

Yea, Kt, all I remember about Six Flags at that age, was how PETRIFIED I was of the big roller coaster, Big Bend. Was that the name of it? They also had the runaway mine train, which I could tolerate. But you couldn't get me near the Big Bend!

Don't bother with any water parks here... they are nothing compared to Schlitterbahn.

Minor League ball in Frisco!

6 Flags added 10 new rides last year for smaller kids. Some may be a little much for a 5 year old.

The Gaylord Texan is something to see... very close to Bass Pro Shop.

Paulin has covered it, and he's done a great job. Especially about the Gaylord Texan.

Speaking of the Gaylord Texan, it'll be exactly 3 years tomorrow that I've been working there. It's a great place to work, and the sights (women) are good as well.

VERY good list. Cabelas is a great place, has a TON of stuffed animals.

Also, what about a minor league hockey game, what 5 year old doesn't like to see a good hockey fight! I haven't been to a game in forever, but I know there was a team in ft. worth...

There's a Ripley's Believe it Or Not and a Wax Museum in Grand Prairie. Its right off Beltline and I30. Right now they have some huge metal dinosaurs out front....a five year old should love that

I took my kids there back in ' 98 or '99. We had a blast.
