on a Nike Commercial....gave me chills.....should them in practice and then flashed and showed a clip of LaDanian Tomlinson making a big run back in his Trojan days.

Awesome...it's during the Chicago and Detroit Game

USA - Athletic apparel giant Nike is shooting a TV commercial in Waco featuring some local high school football players as well as San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson.Nike is shooting a TV commercial in Waco starring San Diego chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who is also a former player for University High School in Waco. Current University players are also featured in the commercial.

University Coach Leroy Coleman says, "They're doing a commercial on the importance of high school football."

Film crews traveled to where Tomlinson got his start in late 90s -- the practice field at University High -- and spent the last two days shooting video of University Football players and Waco ISD's football stadium.

"I'm real thrilled," Coleman says. "I had the opportunity to coach him."

"He's a great guy. He talks to us like he's one of our friends," a player says.

The ad campaign kicked off with a billboard featuring a picture of Tomlinson when he played high school football. It reads "This is University. Just Do It."

"It's a great, great thing for us," Coleman says. "It gives University High School, it gives the community of Waco, a lot of recognition."

The commercial is expected to launch this football season.

Also Coach Butch Henry from the Butch,Tom and Intern show is in that commercial. They talked about it all last week.

Well I wasn't really paying attention to the tv.....and then I saw a flash and I was like man they look familiar........then I keep looking and it was showing more flashes of the team.......and I was like NAH.........then I started seeing the practice field and was like holy crap......and when I saw Ladanian running a touchdown in at Paul Tyson Field was when I started getting chills......that was the Smithson Valley game at Paul Tyson in the playoffs I think.

I hope it comes on again so I can DVR that *****. :eek:

I've seen that commercial quite a few times now....

...did you guys see Brian Urlacher (LB in pruple unifrom wearing #11) hit that runner out of bounce? I love it!

Oh, and Mike Vick (in high school) was on that commercial scrambling too....scarmbling.

Best commercial I've seen in years - great story, great editing - LaDanian and Mike Vick are the center-piece pros I guess - I could watch it all season long. I thought LT went to Waco High?

Did you notice how the players were all decked out in new, expensive, Nike gear. I wonder how much stuff they got out of the deal?

wow great commerical, i like how they used vick, and urlacher as well, and yes i did notice all the new nike gear, im sure it was a "win win" for both parties, though it seems the players could of made it out better, all the gear, on national tv....

Haven't seen the commercial yet, but if the footage was from the Waco U vs. Smithson Valley playoff game, they had several big plays to choose from for Ladanian. I was at that game and remember thinking, "How in the HELL do we stop this guy???" He seemd to slip GANG tackles left and right and turn what would be a 3 yard loss into a 15 yard gain.

The only thing that kept us in the game was our vertical passing game. We were within 7 at halftime thanks to a last second 60+ yard TD reception by Brad Triesch, one of the best WR's to come through SV at the time. The game got ugly in the 2nd half as LD had his way with us.

I noticed in that commercial that he seemed like a pretty tight runner. He looked pretty tall compared to the rest of the people on the field. Was he that way, other kids midgets, or camera angle? Or do you even remember?

That was definitely Paul Tyson Stadium tho....and yeah LaDanian was a large kid in high school also. The Smithson Valley quarter-final game was pretty much in a sold out Paul Tyson Stadium...and there were alot of seats empty in that clip.

I think had he been at Waco High.......Tusa would have wasted his talent and he would not be playing in the NFL. He would have him kicking off punts or something like that.

Nah..they were playing against 3-A power Marlin High in that clip. You can tell cause there is no logo on the helmet...and they have purple and gold and white on.

The game may have been sold out on the Waco U side but definitely not on the SV side that year. Waco is along drive from Smitshon Valley and that was back before SV's long playoff runs became a regular occurence. There were plenty of empty seats on our side. I know because my girl friend was LAYING DOWN on the bleachers next to me.

Again, I haven't seen the commercial but SV didn't have logos on their helmets that year either (we've only had the numbers on the helmets since 2001). But if what you say is true about the team in that commercial wearing purple and gold theni tmost definitely is NOT SV!
