I guess that means you think Lufkin is overrated. I agree that Carter is getting too much love. Clemens is good, but not that good. Copperas Cove has to be somewhere in the top 10 and above Judson until the Bulldawgs get beat.

I might've asked this question before, but it's worth asking again. What dynamics of the game have changed that Longview will now beat Lufkin? I know the QB and RB have another year under their belts, but the stud WR is gone. Lufkin does not have their stud RB anymore. Do you have something to show that you guys are better this year or that Lufkin is worse? Is there some balance of the 2 that's the difference between losing in the past and winning this year? I'd like for it to happen, but I don't know that enough has changed for that to be the case.

Have you forgotten about Dez Bryant the best WR in Texas. WR E.J Shankle that already has offers from Texas A&M,LSU, Texas. DB Hewitt who already has offers from Miami,LSU,A&M. Not to memtion led the State last year with 11 ints. LOL Lonny23 Lufkin is loaded and could beat any team in Texas. Longview has lost 9 st8 to us but its ok everybody hates Lufkin but only one team has proven they can beat us. LOL Lonny23 check your home work on Bryant he was the one that caught 4TD's in just 2 varsity games last year(Cedar Park, SLC) and oh yeah he had a 98 yard TD reception last friday.

I am not just referring to what you post about Lufkin because what you post about them does not matter to the ones out on the field every weekend, but saying KF looks like a college team. Please. :eek: I don't doubt KF is better this year then last year and Lufkin will not overlook them. If KF wins then that is just the way it was suppose to be. Big deal. Life goes on for the Panthers. Even the best fall down sometimes in case you haven't noticed. I have never seen a team dominate year in and year out and win a state title every season. So get real Poppy. Learn a little more about 5A High School football before you post such childish messages. You might want to look closer at College teams too before you make comparisons with a High School team and a College team. There is a huge difference. Longview fans are very confident that they're going to win this year and I've asked several times what has changed that will make them win and not lose to Lufkin. I know Lufkin has talent and that's my point about why so many people think the Lobos win this year.

Not all of us LP fans are bragging about 9 straight. Longview is a much more physical team this year than in the past. That's why I have South Lake and Longview as 1 & 2 in all my polls so far. Lufkin vs. Longview in the region finals would be another great match-up but its still a long way off. If the two had to play right now, I'd give the advantage to Longview (I know this will cause a volley of hate mail from some Lufkin brothers). Not everyone assumes a Lufkin win against Longview. The games are normally to close to call.

In the last 6 years I have always thought it was possible for Longview to beat Lufkin. I never go into a game thinking we can't be beat no matter who we play or how great our team is. Like Pack0808 has stated before, one of our most talented teams got beat in the first round of the playoffs 2 seasons ago to Garland and everyone thought we would win for sure. Anything is possible on any given game night. I have said it before and I will say it again. Freaky things happen sometimes and even the underdogs are capable of pulling off an upset. When we play Longview I know that we are not guaranteed a victory just because Lufkin steps on the field. I know it will be a battle that can be won by either team so I do not just assume that Lufkin will win. I always hope we win but I know it is possible to lose especially to a great team like Longview. That is how I have viewed the past games that we have played them and that is how I will view a future game with them if we should meet up in the playoff. A win is not GUARANTEED by either team if we should meet up. All I know is that if we do meet up it should be a great battle but that is no guarantee either. It could end up being a blowout by one team or the other although that is unlikely. Other then that, it is still obvious POPPY does not have a clue!!!

Bleed - all streaks eventually end - except maybe Lufkin / Nac. -- actually that one probably will as well.

When I graduated from Abilene High - Cooper had beaten us I think 14 years in a row. That streak eventually hit about 17 or so. It's been around .500 I believe since the streak ended.

Look at Permian - they're starting new streaks moving in the wrong direction - sad but true.

P.S.-- Longview fans - please don't take this as a prediction the streak goes on for several years to come - only an insane person makes that prediction. BTW - let's get real - the old district is dead forever - predicting Lufkin/Longview play every year in the regional semi's ain't smart either. But, I have a feeling Coach Outlaw will offer up an pre-district annual game to Coach King in early '06. He's got no desire to play Ike again, and Coach Owens ticked him off big time with his Colerain decision.
