i think i heard this on the lufkin game last night but the uil is looking into next realignment having 10 team districts once we have 4 teams in teh playoffs...that would mean lufkin would stay in the current district and another team would come in with college park...again i dont know if its true but if it is can someone verify it for me

8 is understandable but still %50 getting into the playoffs...thats stupid...10 teams would be really stupid, that would mean all there games would be district games, that would really be crazy...

I like our current districts, I think only two teams should make the play-offs, and one State champion. Most people on the board would agree with me.

There has been a 10 team district for the Fort Worth ISD district, 8-4A, for quite a while until 2004. I know that from at least 1998 thru 2003, their district contained 10. They would divide the district into 2 zones of 5 teams each and have a distrtict zonal playoff between the 2 top teams from each zone in week 10 to determine the 3 playoff spots and seedings. This would enable each team to schedule 4 or 5 non-district opponents at the start of the season. Obviously, the teams in the district did not get to play all the other teams in the district. Kind of confusing isn't it?

The old-timers will remember that 4A had 16 districts in the old days and several districts had zones. It seems like Mt. Pleasant had 12 teams in 8-4A with 6 in each zone. I remember going to Hallsville for a zone playoff game when I was a sophomore.

I'm pretty sure 1987 was the last year of the East Texas zone district before they went to 32 districts in 4A.

There'a also a 5A ten team district in the Houston area. The Fort Bend District schools. BANG! Their district season begins with the first game.
Question...Isn't there a better way to align East Texas teams so that Lufkin plays in a District in their own area? Why should Lufkin have to bus the team way down here for a regular season game? It seems rather inconvenient to Lufkin.

I believe there is also a 10 team district in El Paso.........

I would like to see at least 8 team districts....especially with the 4 teams making the playoffs.

busing lufkin teams to the houston area...
for football it's not too bad.....
varsity, jv, soph and fresh...

how about volleyball, softball, basketball etc. where you play every team in the district home and away...
especially when your teams get their brains beat in every game.
must be some long bus rides home ..how do the boys and girls soccer teams do in the klein district??
bet it's not like football... :(

Shoot, make winning a district championship an even bigger incentive and go back to just one team from each district! I know it'll NEVER happen though. Four teams in the playoffs is flat out STUPID!!!!!

The Fort Bend district only has 9 teams in it. That's 8 district games.

The 5A district in El Paso only has 9 teams in it. Just at a glance I didn't find any 5A districts with ten teams.

I feel that if they are going to have four teams in the playoffs they should just let everyone make the playoffs, with nine regular season games and a garaunteed tenth as a playoff game. It would not make the season any longer and would help a little in taking away the disparity in enrollment with the DI vs. DII thing. Meaning the biggest teams in a district would go DI automatically and then the rest would go DI

Trinity was in a 10-team district in '86 & '87; it sucked. Just for clarification, if your district has 10 teams, then you will play 1 non-district and 9 district games.

I did not say that 10 team district's are possible?? They happen but they are very rare. I was saying that not all 5a teams are going to go to 10 team district's in my opinion. That sure would ruin the fun of non-district games if that happens!! I never would doubt the UIL to make a complete idiotic decision because they are knows for it, so i guess i should not be surprised if that happens.
