Stern has suspended Joey Crawford the remainder of the season and post season for his idiotic actions against Tim Duncan.

Go find Charles for a hug you showboat.

I stand corrected. I did not believe the NBA would ever do anything to one of it's boys. Wow!

Duncan got a $25K Fine for his troubles as well. Horry tells some expensive jokes. :p

It's all eyewash. Stern can't let a player/coach gripe about the refs because it gets in the way of him making the NBA what he wants it to be. Stern is the only Commish I've ever heard of telling the refs how to call games.

Suspending Crawford reinforces that Stern believes in protecting star players. The bad thing about that is there is a pecking order and players on teams will trump other teams.

I'm sure a few refs will be mad at Duncan and the Spurs, but most will probably give them some preferential treatment to stay in Stern's good graces.

Just because Stern took action today, don't think for a minute that he's going to punish a ref for making bad calls when Stern wants bad calls.

So your saying the suspension was because he ejected Duncan, not because he used poor judgement and was out of line with the call? Your dislike of the Spurs has got you sounding like a Conspiracy Theory Nut.

The sentence you bolded has nothing to do with what you just said. The bolded part means that the NBA is going to let bad behavior by refs in the playoffs go unpunished. This is not a case of the NBA checking refs at the door to make sure they do a quality job.

As far as what you said, it's not a Spurs thing. Stern would crack down on a ref for tossing many star players in that circumstance.

This whole ordeal became more public because it was on ABC and the events were filmed.

For a day or two I was actually softening my feelings about the Spurs because I'm so tired of all this Suns crap I have to hear.

Crawford got suspended because it was on national TV, but moreso because it was a star player. He might've gotten shut down regardless of who he tossed because of 2003, but there are many refs that can get away with tossing a 'sheed for staring and nothing will be said. Everything Stern does is more about image than doing the right thing. Stern doesn't care about the right thing, he just wants to make money for the NBA. Stern is protecting the public image of the NBA.

We've had peace and harmony for like 8 months and now a few days before the playoffs, the battle begins!:D

Wow - they're saying Crawford is likely gone for good. He was apparently in deep in the tax evasion fiasco - this is a 3rd strike for him.

Not to sound too LoneGunmanish, but I think that if Crawford had ejected Sheed, or Artest instead of Duncan, he would be getting a freaking medal of honor instead of his walking papers.

I'm glad to see this happen. After watching what happend to Timmy it was bogus for him to be thrown out. Some of these officials in all of sports think they can not ever be challenged or held accountable for their mistakes. I'm glad to see this happen now and myabe Carwford can spend this time growing some hair.

Was this same ref involved in the Dallas home games last year in their playoff series against the Spurs?

Tim got fined $25K. Let's not put him up for sainthood just yet. He did wrong, it's just that Crawford overreacted to it. Just think, if Crawford had kept his cool, we'd just be talking about what a dunce Tim was for putting his team in jeopardy by flirting with a suspension this close to the playoffs.

And seeing the stunned look on Tim's face when he got thrown out was one of the funniest things I've seen in sports all year.

Crawford should have been suspended long before Sunday's incident. Crawford gave Devin Harris a tech earlier this season just because he looked up at the ceiling. He's also the same clown that booted Don Nelson because he stood by the scores table too long. Not to mention, he t'd up Jermaine O'Neal because he put his hands on his hips. Crawford has always sucked!

Game 3 refs:

Joey Crawford
Joe Derosa
Bill Spooner

I'll go to my grave saying the refs wanted Dallas to win that game (They did 104-103). Mavs 39-50 in Free Throws (Dirk 21-24) and Spurs 22-32 (Duncan 5-8). Duncan fouled out, too.

Before Spurs fans start griping, remember I've said many times that you DESERVED to win Games 1 and 3. Dallas DESERVED to win Games 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Dirk got the better of Duncan at the line in that game, but the rest of the series was robbery as far as what Duncan could do.

Game 1 Spurs 30-28 on FT's, TD 12-6 over Dirk. Fair game.

Game 2 Mavs 43-37 and Tim 14-7 (Yeah, the refs wanted to help Dallas, but it was a huge blowout and they didn't need the help.

Game 3 Mavs 50-32 and Dirk 24-8. Mavs stole it.

Game 4 Tie 32-32 and Dirk 15-8. Fair game.

Game 5 Spurs 31-19 and Tim 15-4. It was a ripoff win for SA.

Game 6 Spurs 34-20 and Tim 10-8. Another ripoff win for the Spurs.

Game 7 Spurs 39-31 and Tim 23-16. The Mavs won anyway.
