First of all, it was an ugly game.
Both sides lost their opportunities in the game. Between TWHS fumbles & Humble dropped passes (probably 2 for TD's), this game was nothing to be proud of. It is nice to see us win. 0-3 would not be good going into district play. Thanks Humble! We should soon be sending you a Thank You card.
As I predicted, it was going to be defense that determined the game. The Woodlands came out on top. I also predicted that Humble needed to call the "yellow flag" plays to pull this out. That did not happen this time; however, some suspect calls on both sides.
Humble 1st two games: the wildcats averaged 390+ yards (240 & 315 rushing). Versus the Woodlands? 178 total yards (102 rushing). Now if Humble's receivers would of caught 3 perfectly thrown balls, they just might of won this game. They have a great quarterback. Of course, we held North Shore to 7 pts. The Junior defensive linemen are playing great!
The Woodland's offense is getting better. QB Parsons is not on target still. This will be a tough season if he does not get "accurate". I'm not sure he is looking pass the 1st receiver. The offense will need to modify their routes to offset a quick pass rush. Humble scored on such by calling the quick slant from the line after noticing the blitz. TWHS receivers can catch, but only if the ball is somewhat close. There are too many weapons on offense, but you cannot win a war if you cannot get the ball to these players.
See you at the next Game.
