Last year the Ohio fans touted that their defense was the best ever that they produced in Ohio and that their "Division 1" is the toughest classification in any state. Even better than our 5-A.
You can go here and check out the video of their defense. There are 3 pretty long videos.

tyler lee defenatly.but if we lose were going to wish that lufkin,sv,or longview played ohio..tyler lee will not be the best team in texas next year, and it sounds like colerain is the best team in ohio, ether way there will be alot of trash talking i bet between these 2 states after the game is over.

hey fballphenome....for you to make a comment that tyler lee will not be the best team in tx this next yr is absolutely 100% dumb.....i bet if you would have asked most people on the site last yr if lee would win state they would have said no....so until you see lee play or get beat....shut your chops punk

I saw the 2004 Colerain vs Mckinley State Championship game. All I can say is that if the Texas top #15 teams had to play against that Mckinley team they would also have a so-called "great defense." That Mckinley team wasnt very good at all. They were on par with a Texas (5-5) 4A level team.
Also, Colerain was a solid team. I would put them on par with the top Texas #15 teams. They were no better or worse than Lufkin, Tyler Lee, Longview, Smithson Valley, Spring Westfield and about 10 other Texas teams of 2004.
I've seen a few Ohio games and all I can say is the overall level of competition in Texas is stronger than Ohio. Even Ohio elite D-1 level.
I have a feeling that Tyler Lee is going to win the game. Tyler Lee offense is to creative and adaptive. I'm not sure that Colerain can adjust to it. They didnt have to adjust one bit against Mckinley. Mckinley ran a dang (Pro-I) formation for 95% of the game.
Also, Colerain lost about 12 strong starters (QB, Rb) which were 90% of their offense and they lost 6 really solid defensive starters. I know that Tyler Lee lost a really strong senior class also but Tyler Lee also has about 7 solid starters coming back and a very good (QB and RB) that are both college D-1A caliber players.
It should be a very interesting game. The game being played in Ohio give Colerain about (7 pts). But, overall I think Tyler Lee will win the game. My early prediction is :
Tyler Lee by 10 pts.

In that Canton McKinley state championship Colerain had 3 (I believe all in the first half). And, still won the game 50-10. What Texas team in a state championship game had turned the ball over 3 times and still win the state championship 50-10?
Yes, they do look like a solid team, but just looking at film above that defense doesn't even look close to what i've seen here in Texas.
And, alot of those players are gone now.
I think that Tyler Lee is going to blow them out.

Mainly because both teams are going to run the ball. Colerain is going to burn the clock running the ball. The game probably wont last but 2:20 minutes.
I do see Colerain trying to pound out 1st downs and running the clock. They probalby will sneak one or two scores in. I think Tyler Lee will also pound the ball but will make a few more big plays. Especially in the passing game. I really wont be surprised to see Tyler Lee get a couple of wide-open touchdown passes.
What I would do if I was Tyler Lee's coaches (which I'm not). I would bring so much heat on defense. We would be attacking and attacking that new Colerain Qb that is learing how to run the option. I would make that kid make mistakes and turn the ball over. Tyler Lee would be shooting and stunting all over the place.
8 players in the box and cover 1 secondary and bring heat ! I promise you that new Colerain QB would turn the ball over alot.
On offense. I would come out with about 20 different formations and have some motion and shifting. I dont think Colerain "EVER" really see's that in Ohio and Tyler Lee would have kids running wide open down the field half the time.
Your right. No Texas 5A team would be able to turn the bal over 3 times against another Texas 5A power and still win the game by 40 pts. Not going to happen.
Its all about competition level. That's why the strongest and overall level of competition for High school football is here in Texas. Bar none.

It's a cool deal down there. Parking is always a pain down there. Did you get to check out The Real World house?
Awhile back we had a good friend that lived right on 6th street right above the club Treasure Island.
So, during Pecan Street festival we would just walk downstairs..out the door..and all around the displays..get food...go back up and eat some of it.....then go back down and do it again...all day long.
Fun times.

I would like to see Southlake take on some other teams from around the country also. I'm like you. I think SLC is going to have another really strong team this season. I wont be surprised at all to see them in the "Big Show" again.
I think SLC defense is going to be pretty solid this season.
I would like to see SLC play one of California top teams (Mission Viejo, DLS or Long Beach Poly). There was a California dude on TexasHsfootball claiming the SLC didnt play defense.
I have a good buddy that coaches in Alabama that saw SLC play. He said that Alabama top team (Hoover) would soundly beat SLC and that SLC was very simple and easy.
Last year 2003: Evangel, La traveled to Birmingham, Al and lost to Hoover 21-14. Two weeks before Longview, Tx beat Evangel in Shreveport like 45-21. Longview was about the #15th ranked team in Texas in 2003.
Lets see.. Hoover = 21 ECA =14
Longview=45 ECA-21
and my Alabama buddy thinks SLC is an easy and simple team.. Of coarse he also says that Midland Lee and Denton Ryan suck.

yea and i bet if he saw the 2003 north shore team he'd call them n00b's right?

yea and i bet if he saw the 2003 north shore team he'd call them n00b's right?
My Alabama "coach" friend saw the 2003 North Shore vs Woodlands State championship game. He said, " the Woodlands team sucked and was slow and couldnt tackle ," and that North Shore wouldnt be able to do those things on the top Alabama teams.
He saw this past seasons 2004 Midland Lee vs Abilene game. He said that Midland Lee wouldnt be able to run the ball like that on Alabama's top teams.
He saw the 2004 SLC vs Denton Ryan and SLC vs Smithson Valley games. He says the Denton Ryans QB-Justin Willis "sucked" and that SLC defense was horrible and that a team like Hoover would put about 35 pts on them. Also , SLC offense was "simple and easy."
So, honestly I would like to see one of Texas top #5 teams go play the mighty Alabama team called Hoover.
I've seen Hoover play a few times. They arent a bad team at all. But they also aint all that. I think the top #15 or so Texas teams would play with them down for down and beat them 80% of the time.
Hoover isnt any better or worse than the top #15 or so Texas teams.
But, if you listened to my Alabama buddy you would think "HOOVER" and the other top #4 or so Alabama High school teams were dang SEC college teams.
I did tell you he was a Coach !!!
It just amazes me that someone that is a High school coach can watch a tape of SLC and say they are easy and simple.
He just laughs it off when I tell him:
2003: #1 Al Hoover = 21 ECA = 14 in Alabama
2003: #15-TX Longview= 45 ECA =28 in Louisiana.
Texas #15 team (Longview) beat the same team (Evangel) alot worse than his states #1 team (Hoover).
By the way.. Hoover is clearly the #1 team in Alabama. They have played in the Alabama State Championship 5 years in a row and won it 4 years.
I heard a rumor that in 2006 the Woodlands may play Hoover. I hope so.
