Consol 37
Georgetown 7
21-7 at the half. Consol scored 10 more points in the 2nd half and a lot of 2nd teamers got playing time on defense, some 2nd team Offensive backs got some second half PT, Offensive line was pretty consistent the entire game. I'm rather amazed at how well the O-Line has pulled together this quickly this year.
Georgetown threw on us a lot as we expect every team to this year. Our Defensive backs were not caught out of position after a tough week of practice. 2 INT's in the end zone on Georgetown bombs.
Consol defense gave up an initial TD and then held them scoreless.
Georgetown isn't Westlake, no one thinks that, but we rebounded rather strong on a very hot & humid night in College Station.
Defense still needs to toughen up the middle, but the DB's and LB's came through nicely on pass coverages.

You and I have the same problem... looking ahead.... :)
Let's hope we're both undefeated in district and the game is for all the marbles...
*that* would be epic! And yet, there's 4 or 5 teams laying in wait for both our teams. after the various performances I've seen from Consol, I'll be quite happy to be in that position. They did look pretty good last night.
When I looked at our schedule this summer, I felt like we'd be in good shape if we won 2 out of our first 3 games. So, we'll see. I am proud of the way the boys bounced back this week, but Georgetown isn't Westlake. :)

Consol pounds Eagles

Passing problems have plagued the A&M Consolidated football team for more than a year, but the skies were friendly to the Tigers on Friday night.
Quarterback Chris Jones directed an efficient passing attack, and cornerback Leroy Thompson intercepted three passes to lead an improved pass defense as Consolidated thumped Georgetown, 37-7, at Tigerland Stadium.
Consolidated bounced back from a loss to Austin Westlake, improving to 2-1. Georgetown dropped to 1-2 with its second consecutive loss.
The passing game had been a pox upon the Tigers. Last year, Consol was unable to throw the ball effectively, and this season the Tiger pass defense was ravaged in the first two games.
Both problems appeared to be patched up against the Eagles, whose wide-open passing attack was supposed to test Consol's secondary.
Georgetown quarterback Tyler Moore had a hot start, completing five of his first six passes for 75 yards, but the Tigers gave Moore fits the rest of the night. Moore finished 11 of 26 for 114 yards, with three interceptions.
Consol did not allow a touchdown pass after giving up six in its first two games. The secondary that had been burned repeatedly on big plays allowed only three completions longer than 10 yards, with the longest 34 yards.
"I'm not sure how good Georgetown is," Consol coach Jim Slaughter said. "They're not any Austin Westlake, but at the same time, we didn't make a lot of those errors that we've been making.
"The big thing is we were hard to get the big play against. I've been upset that we've been giving up big plays in critical situations, and tonight was not like that."
Junior quarterback Jones produced a stunning game in his first start for the Tigers. He completed his first nine passes and finished 11 of 15 for 155 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.
Jones had played well off the bench against Westlake, but whether he could start Friday's game was in doubt until Thursday because he had a sore throwing elbow.
"Chris Jones had a good night," Slaughter said. "He showed great leadership. He told us [Thursday] that he thought his elbow was going to be all right, and he was looking good enough that we believed him."
The Tigers stalled on their first possession, and Georgetown quickly marched 57 yards for a touchdown. Running back Runey Davis accounted for 42 yards on the drive, including a 7-yard touchdown run.
Consol answered with touchdowns on its next three possessions, including a pair of impressive 80-yard drives.
"They didn't let our first drive affect them at all," Eagles coach Phil Blue said. "They were able to continue with their plan, and they just outplayed us tonight."
The Tiger offense clicked with Jones getting plenty of time to throw and junior running back Daniel Palmer rushing for 143 yards in his second consecutive big game.
"I think our offensive line really had a very good night," Slaughter said. "They did a good job of giving Chris time to pass."
Palmer gained 7 yards on a key fourth-and-five play from the Eagle 35 to keep the first drive alive. J.J. McMurry scored on a 3-yard run to tie the game.
Thompson's interception set up the go-ahead drive. Palmer slashed up the middle for 20 yards to set up Jones' 1-yard touchdown that made it 14-7.
Consol's third scoring drive of the half included a great leaping catch for 33 yards by tight end Miller Aldrich. Two plays later, Detron Lewis made one of his six receptions, hauling in a 16-yard touchdown pass that completed Jones' 9-for-9 start.
Thompson made two of his interceptions in the Consol end zone, including a leaping grab in the closing seconds of the half that preserved the Tigers' 21-7 lead.
"That interception where he laid out was unbelievable," Slaughter said. "I didn't think he could reach that ball. That's what I like about him: He goes to the ball."
Thompson's third interception set up another McMurry touchdown run that gave the Tigers a 30-7 lead late in the third quarter. Reserve quarterback Kyle Gideon scored the final touchdown on a 5-yard run in the closing minutes.
The Consol defense dominated the second half, holding the Eagles to four first downs and 97 yards after intermission. Georgetown finished with 253 yards of total offense.
"They took it down the field - boom, boom, boom - on their first drive," Slaughter said. "I was proud of the defensive coaches for their adjustments after that drive, and proud of the players for making the adjustments work.
"After that, we pretty well shut them down."

From the way Georgetown played Belton and Temple, I'd say all three of those teams are in that same level if you can go by the stats/scores of those games.

None of the three are that good. I mean Temple has won like 1 game in the past 2 years same for Belton so not much of a barometer on how good YOU are by beating them.
